  • What a menacing guitar figure. It soothes me 99% of the time with its frightfully sprawling discordant splendiferousness. Greetings from the South Pacific.

  • nobody else knows what this means to me. cept one person.

  • nobody else knows what this means to me.

  • robot hand!

  • @Stillillgal it sure is the future!

  • Whats the painting at 1 26 called

  • This stuff has to be the biggest crock of crap I have ever heard, what's the big deal about this guy, never heard of him, and no wonder, I am not surprised, useless shower of chancers.

  • @zuludelta100 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!!!!! OK GO GET A OSCAR PERFORMANCE, GAIN MILLIONS OF HARDCORE FANS.........THEN YOU COME BACK AND SAY THIS GUY IS CRAP!! UNTIL THEN YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER UNEDUCATED MINDLESS INTERNET TROLL!!!!

  • @CAITOSON I have my fans thanks anyway.

  • @zuludelta100 Sorry but facebook friends dont count!

  • @CAITOSON Face Book fans? ha ha ha yes all my fans are Facebook fans how did you know. (Sarcasm).

  • This song makes me feel like I'm floating above it all. It fills me with elation and sadness all at once. I don't drink or do drugs but whenever I listen to ANY Elliott song I get high. A special high that I can't describe. Sounds way out there I'm sure, but I don't care.I miss him a lot but hell, he's never really that far away. R.I.P man, love you lots. (:

  • @manwhassup1 i know what you mean, i do do drugs however, but it is when i am sober i enjoy his songs much more, gives me goosebumps, elliott is my hero and will always be my favorite.

  • You let go,

  • where did you find that pic at 0:52 of the guy with the bass drum? its awesome!

  • great snare drum sound in this.

  • amazing

  • The world ends to songs like this..

  • I had never heard this song before, seems like I might never run out of new Elliott Smith songs to discover

  • @cauthoncrazy you will run out,he died

  • @Deicidead he may be dead, but new songs appear like, every freaking year. god knows how, but i havent run out of his songs, and i have like , the majority of his albums .

  • Maybe you been on the wrong side of the tracks listening to that top 40 bullshit, we all welcome you over...=)

  • His music always brings me up!, so I won't stay down.

  • who are you talkin too cricket

  • this man never got the credit he deserved , maybe the best melody and lyrics and tunes of all time and you listen to the shit on mtv or the radio today that gets so much respect (wishy washy shit) and think how the fuck was this guy not the biggest music act in the world , legend , legend legend

  • shut the fuck up and listen to the song you fucking henry rollins wanna be fuck.

  • @molloy1978 absolutely agreed with you there

  • @molloy1978 He really got all the credit he deserved though with the indie scene and some artsy mainstream heads, real artistic honest music is never allowed into the mainstream scene since that whole agenda is to dumb down listeners and profit. But for sure Elliott was a mastermind at honest pure music.

  • @mellowtonen there is no way you can possibly believe that he got all the credit he deserved... He still deserves more credit. It's that simple. A bunch of Indie scenesters gave him all the credit he deserved??? What??? That doesn't make any sense. He deserves more credit because there are TONS of people who don't even know who he is and even more who haven't heard his music. I routinely meet people who should know Elliott Smith, but don't because he hasn't gotten the credit he deserved.

  • @tripperthe Elliott doesn't belong in the household name category of music, if everyone knew who he was than coming across his music and connecting with it so personally would be less personal. And what /who do you wish gave more credit? The indie scene is where the heart of music is and he got all the credit in that scene, which means more than getting credit in the mainstream where art means nothing. People will find his music, I never want to hear his songs on american idol.

  • @molloy1978 couldn't agree more with you.

  • Great slide show for the song. Love every second of From A Basement.

  • what a great lyricist he was "she was as hard and cracked as the liberty bell" just so evocotive.

  • I think the way he sings the first line "I met a girl, a snowball in hell." makes it the best line in the song. I like how he pronounces 'hell.'

  • yes i rate him as one of the all time best lyricists with maybe only dylan above him.

  • The best Elliot Smith song I've heard. I'm not really into his live concert performances. Not really my thing.

  • really? you don't like his live shows? half of them are quite good, some even better than studio versions

  • I would pay millions too have seen him play

  • im usually into guys like bob dylan and leonard cohen but for some reason i've always like Elliott Smith.

  • i read somewhere that the first song Elliot learned on the guitar was bob dylan's "Don't think twice", which would explain the style in which he wrote a lot of his songs

  • @Jay3039 thats cuz they all three rock!!!!!

  • I think I've seen that painting at 1:15 in an exhibit.

    Is it an Edward Hopper?

  • yes it is!

  • I saw it at the Corcoran Museum/College in DC, which is where I'm going today to get my portfolio reviewed for admission :)

  • @TheJibs: BTW, it's called HOTEL ROOM (1931), and it's from Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. If you like that one, check out WESTERN MOTEL, SUN IN AN EMPTY ROOM, and MORNING SUN. They're some of my favorites. Also try looking at DaChirico. All some of my favorites

  • I met a girl who was cracked as the liberty bell.

  • Brilliant song! Too bad...

  • because he fuckin kicks, brotha

  • i love elliott smith ,but why do sooo many people love elliott smith?

  • for the same reason you love elliott smith?

  • exactly.

  • because he was a beautiful person... it shows in his music

  • I knew this really depressed girl.I gave her a cd of his.She hated it.

  • that's quite funny

  • yes it is

  • @slicknicknirvana (depressed girl): "WHAT THE HELL? MUSIC WITH ACTUAL MEANING? GET THIS AWAY FROM ME!"

  • @AlwaysSkate488 lol.yeah.she was real dumb.anything with real meaning was "too serious" to her.She liked crap music. One of her favorite songs was small town girl by journey.god.that song sucks.

  • @slicknicknirvana LOL maybe jonas brother will help her out.

  • this is a new one for me...I love Elliot Smith

  • me too

  • beautiful pictures!

  • this song is amazing.
