i have some questions.. i have a bunion, but is this taping only for dancers? why do we need to do this? (does it help muscles?) can we do this just because it doesnt look good?
When I was 9 I used to tape my bunions but when I turned 16 taping it was not working for me anymore I end getting both of my feet done . I'm 24 now getting bunion surgery was the best thing I ever did
@Rcutiepie are you still dancing? as in professionally? if you dance professionally it may not be a good idea going for a surgery. bunion surgery takes out lots of strength out of your feet (as I have heard). but if you don't dance as a professional and you think it'll ease your condition, I think surgery would be better :)
Yeah but the bunion (or on the side of the foot that starts to crook) is still there and even overtime I believe it'll cause more pain. Cos the bunion is growing and the tape it's restraining that space to grow. For worse case scenarios surgery should be recomended.
@Am3cA well you can use toe spacers so your bunions dont get any worst but the taping is worth it, especially for the long run. my grandma did ballet && went en pointe in her youth and she had to get a few surgeries because of her bunions in the past few years, and she only had (homemade) toe spacers. SO long story short, yes toe spacers are good, but using BT (bunion tape) is better for the long run.
This is just what I was looking for! I am not a dancer but both feet have developed bunions from walking and running. I just did this and my toes are staying nice and straight. :) I'll definitely continue taping from now on!
I am really trying to figure out what type of tape that is. Obviously you used two different types of tape, but I wonder what the difference between both of them are?
I'm starting pointe soon and I already have a bunion from a while back, and I was wondering if I can wear the taping shown while en pointe.
i have HUGE bunions! I dont do anything about them... They do get in my way when I go on releve when I am on en pointe and just releve in general... Any tips?? Should I do something about them?
my dance teacher said i have a dead middle toe lolthat my nick name in class (its kinda imbaressing) she said that because when i left my toes up my middle toe dont go up with the others. can anybody help explain why???
in ganna be on pointe very soon so can somebody help?
s the pointe shoes you wear, how high is the box on the shoe ? and does the bunion hang out of the box ? if so look for a shoe with a higher box that holds the bunion inside, many dancers dance with bunions, make sure that the shoe holds the foot and does not slip down the shoe when on pointe.your bones have already hardened at your age, nothing will correct it only surgery, but if you feel that the bunion is not getting worse by pointe work carry on and enjoy your dancing.....
She said a spacer will just push the toes apart, and not correct or align the toe, which is the problem. When I use them, often it feels more comfortable but I don't think it really helps with anything else. Though I don't know what problems bunions really cause.
Question: I'm 23 years old and I do pointe work recreationally for exercise and fun. My right bunion is more protrusive than the one in the video. Is it adviseable to still do pointe work, even for recreation if I intend to get a corrective operation later on down the track?
I can't tell if I have bunion problem or just wide feet please respond I have more questions
