I remember this turmoil so vividly. We never though gas prices would ever go back to normal, and envisioned it even going well beyond $10. Thankfully, the price of gas per barrel dropped(or whatever the hell happened), or we might be paying $15+ dollars by now.
I guess you could say that is one thing bush did right, even if he didn't really do anything directly to effect it.
rumor is the russians found and are building a oil pump. the oil they found is the same size of middle easts oil field. the russians field is massive ,and the middle east knows about this construction.so they are taking while there taking is good. once russian open up. the price will fall just as fast as it got high
Yes Americans?? WE have to fix this problem ourselves! Use cotton made reusable bags for you're groceries. Plastic is made from oil. Lets use more glass bottles. They are made from sand. We have plenty of that. Glass is reusable. Watch you're prices at the grocery store. Ride bikes. Walk. Ride mopeds. The time is now. We have to do this!!
why I switched to bus commuting instead of driving saves buttloads of money everyday fare prices will ALWAYS be cheaper than gas prices thank God. I really don't care public transit is constantly overcrowded and stuff......it's well worth it
Great video. It's funny - most people buy cheaper houses that are 30 miles away from work, but spend what they "save" - on gas & wear/tear on their cars.
Screw Americans and drivers! They have been pampered WAY TOO LONG! Stop the vacations and driving big vehicles! Take the bus, or walk, or bike. But that's too hard, so pay up the ass and shut up about it. No matter what the gas prices are, Americans want to drive. Nothing will change. Period.
...and the gas tax should be $3/gallon. That money will go to investments supporting non automotive transport such as bicycling, railways, and subways.
How much was gas when the inept criminal elitist Bush entered office?? Bush is the WORST PREZ EVER! Rednecks and yahoos voted him in, not educated, knowledgeable Americans, of which there are fewer and fewer these days!
Us British are paying $9 a gallon now, and today the price of petrol went up again. A liter of Petrol in now £1.02, and a liter of Diesel is now £1.07, and that is only at the supermarket pumps. At BP garages it's even higher.
Public transport here in Britain is shite, and fare levels are disgusting, I hardly ever use the bus, and can't even remember the last time I went on a train. And 97% of our manufactured goods and raw materials are transported by road.
Depends what you are comparing like with like with. A Porche does as many mpg here in England as it does in...California. BTW petrol and diesel at my6 local BP garage has gone up again, it's now £1.06 a liter for petrol and £.1.11 for diesel, which works out around £5 a gallon or $10 a gallon more or less.
well.. more compact cars? heh.. we dont have lil cars here or not yet.. i heard in canada they made some electric ones.. but they are illegal in canada oddly..i guess cause they dont have a problem with gas.
Well a Yaris diesel here does 63mpg on average-my older brother has one-so I guess it does 63mpg in Canada as well. And as for not driving 'lil cars' with the price of oil stedy at $100 + a barrel, and with Hubbards Peak fast approaching, you'll all have to start switching, or use the bus. :-)
I Love America, and I Adore the American people, but it Really makes me laugh when they moan about Gas prices, we pay about $8 a gallon here in England, if they were paying that, then they would have something to Moan about.
I still LOVE you America....The BEST country on EARTH!!
I really like driving my SUV but something has got to be done about the energy situation. Oil companies are obviously price gouging everybody, I would gladly run my SUV off ethanol (sold to me by a small company, NOT ExxonMobile) if it was reasonably priced. Who gives a rip if the government subsidizes ethanol, do you have any idea how much the gov't subsidizes the Oil companies?!
Theres almost no hope in North America (Canadians are just as bad) they would rather sit on their asses every moring in a gas guzzling queue to get a (piss weak) coffee from the drive in than get out and walk into the 'resturants' where there in NEVER a queue. Every day I get a coffee and a pastry from the same place, I walk in straight to the counter get my order in a quarter of the time, honestly if these people cant work this out theres almost no hope.
By the way, could you try and construct coherent and punctuated sentences next time; it is difficult to eke the point of the sentence out when it appears as a single homogenous mass of words.
Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, and countless other car manufacturers are far cooler than almost all American cars. Incidentally, European cars can actually go around a bend at speed without making a fool of themselves.
I have been to America many times, they have some Lovely cars that people in UK just Don't see. You don't get to see them unless you go spend some time in America.
America has some Top Class Designers!
The UK has some of the most BORING cars on earth, I hate them, they are just So Boring!!
Capitalism, and exploiting resources, are absolutley no excuse to pollute the entire world with inefficient vehicles, and other shoddy products to suit the average American's whim. Mustangs and other American cars may be cool to you, but you will find very few of them outside North America, whilst European and East Asian cars are exported everywhere.
Charlesmartinez1, what is your problem? Why all the name-calling? Big certainly does not imply comfort. A jumbo jet is 76 metres long, yet the vast majority are certainly not very comfortable. Cheap Citroens, and expensive Rolls Royces even more so, are renowned for their comfort, yet you don't see any 2.5 metre wide Citroens lollowing around. Comfort is related to quality of workmanship and use of material, not size.
..."how about more drilling and building some more refineries asshole."... That is an absolutely ridiculous statement. You think that the only way to decrease America's apparently exorbitant prices is by drilling for more oil? If we all thought like that we would have used up all our resources by now.
resources get with the program you liberals we have made great discoveries of oil fields in the last five years one off the coast of calif that is said to be larger than all of saudia arabias deposits stop watching an inconveniate lie , and know that the oil companys record billions profit is because they can't invest it in drilling or research for more oil.
Why are you swearing? Incidentally, I am not fat. I am 60 kilograms (132 pounds to Americans). And who said you had authority on what is cool? Have you seen some of the ugly American cars? The reason European cars are small is because our roads are small - they've been that way for many hundreds of years, and because most people realise that big does not necessarily imply comfort or luxury.
i'll try not to swear your euro contries are built on small but the us is not. and yes gig does imply comfort don't fool yourself , and yes a mustang gt is alot cooler than what ive seen come out of europe ,any questions???
well maybe us (liberals) think its time to change our bad habits, nasty disposition, greedy thoughts, and help save our planet by using less gas,or maybe even driving a fuel efficient one,but most like those fat cars to fit their big fat greasy butt in
In Europe, our cars have a thing called ''efficiency''. European car manufacturers can producefar more brakehorse power out of a 2 litre engine than those gas guzzling American cars can produce out of 3 or 4 litre engine. Perhaps the U.S.A. should make their cars more fuel efficient before moaning about fuel prices. If Europe had only to pay 63 eurocents (43 pence) for a litre of fuel, we would all be twice as better off than we are now.
What americans still pay under 1 dollar for a liter of fuel?! And they complain?!!! In Belgium the price per liter ( US gallon= 3,785 liter)is about 1 euro and a half (1 euro= 1,25 dollars) maybe you really should stop driving SUV's. Whats the point of driving those things anyway?!
For one I think the old skool mini coopers are cool. Second you can buy a mini van that uses less fuel then an SUV. Destroy the planet because it's cool?! No reason to call names. Amazingly americans are suprised that the rest of the world thinks they're stupid...dumbass
Easy answer to lower the cost of fuel. greyfalcon. net/ electriccars.png Drive electric. greyfalcon. net/ evmovie3 greyfalcon. net/ tesla greyfalcon. net/ truck3 Costs about $0.50-$0.75 per gallon. greyfalcon. net/ plugins _ And with a small gasoline generator for backup electricity, you wouldn't have to change your driving habits at all. Asside from visiting the gas station less than 5 times a year.
people complain about high gas prices but do ZERO to change their driving habits, pedal to the metal everywhere they go, racing each other to the next red light. Driving massive suv's, sucking go juice thru a funnel. Hurry up and wait and pay extra to do it.
The impeachment hearings need to start soon if this country is to have hope for the future. The rest of the world can't live w/ the most powerful military in the world being run by dogmatic idealogues w/ no regard for our Constitution. The Constitution is NOT pre-9/11 thinking!!!
The U.S.A worried that petroleum costs on average $3.22 a U.S. Gallon? That works out at $0.85 a litre, which is only GB£0.43 (43 pence)a litre. In the United Kingdom, we have been paying more than double that for decades (96 pence per litre today). That is $7.20 per U.S. Gallon! One would not moan before you know what the situation is like in other countries.

I would say lets make our leaders subject to the bills they pass in our name! Like did you vote to let oil companies make 72b. profit. Why are they allowed! We need to make the supreme court tell us why politicians can have free healthcare, pensions and vote there self a raise and not all of us! They want you to live in 1970 econemy, While they and there corp. buddies live like kings.
Nationalize oil! If water was as relatively expensive as oil is, there would be no question about. Use the laws of eminent domain as they should be used...take the shit away from them. It doesn't belong to them (oil companies) anyway. If not for our huge military budget and forces worldwide, gas would be twice what it is now. We already subsidize them, so screw them all the way and just fucking take it away. Done deal.
Yes, no doubt, we Americans brought this on ourselves, but our primary concern is the obvious Price Gouging by the Oil Industry & lack of Government action. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will on Friday release selected portions of pre-war intelligence in which the CIA warned the administration of the risk and consequences of a conflict in the Middle East.
Among other things, the 40-page Senate report reveals that two intelligence assessments before the war accurately predicted that toppling Saddam could lead to a dangerous period of internal violence and provide a boost to terrorists. But those warnings were ignored.

Well, if you took the yearly subsidy for ethanol $7.1 billion.
And then spread that across the 4.6 billion gallons of ethanol we make.
As compared to 146 billion gallons of gasoline.
Then cut that down to only 70% of the mileage of gasoline.
Per equivalent gallon of gasoline, we're paying a total cost of $6.75/gallon for Ethanol.
