They use a unix base becouse of drm issues with both mac and windows (digital rights management...ironic huh). Protected Media Path for instance can infact cause playback issues and generaly be a pain in the ass.
The only thing all studios have in common computer wise is the use of LaCie brand monitors and the use of reference quality speakers and headphones (akg, Adam, m-audio, Mackie). Everything else varies by studio.

lol sony vegas is one of the most used video editing programs and it is on PC, there are many other 3D programs, music editing and video editing apps on PC.

They're an administrative nightmare, have no standardization whatsoever, are NOT nearly as stable as a Windows machine, generally have the most poorly coded GUI's I've ever seen, ... My school used Mac a while back and they kept freezing up so they had to write down appointments and stuff on memo pads until they switched back to PC. Also the Macs could NOT be upgraded we had to toss them out and buy brand new ones every tiem there was a change. But with a PC we could unplug stuff form the motherboard and replace it. Ive used a MAC, they suck. All they ever do is make simple things harder to do. Everything "creative" that you can run on a mac you can run on a PC. Song Vegas, Adobe Premiere, all run on windows better than a MAC.
And as far as people saying that more artistic people use macs, that's not true. MACs are just simpler to use on a basic level then windows. So people who aren't as good with computers find them easier to use. But when you mac brakes (and it will) have fun fixing it.

And by your "If I were a PC" statement, you only reinforces the idea that people have a stereotype on PC's. Yes, my Vista has encountered blue screens, but not nearly as much as what people say; I can count the number of times it blue screened on one hand, and I'm sure Macs get their kernal crash every once in a while as well.

I REALLY know about computers, and no, unix systems are not cool. They're an administrative nightmare, have no standardization whatsoever, are NOT nearly as stable as a Windows machine, generally have the most poorly coded GUI's I've ever seen, ... (I can go on for quite a while, but I'll stop here).

I loved PC's until vista came out. I upgraded to it and now I hate vista with a passion, which is what they're advertising here. Apple products are a lot better than Microsoft's in my opinion. Especially now that they're going all out on vista and you can't get XP anymore. Do yourself a favor and don't get a PC or get a PC and download linux on it.

Well. Everybody says the exact same thing "I'm a pc". They all seem quite dull (no offence to them) none of them are excited. To me it seems like in that ad they made windows look like an OS for Dull un-excited people that like comparing them selfs. (Well dull isn't the right word.) Maybe its just me.......... mac will take over the home pc market...only a matter of time. with success of the ipod and iphone, a mac is now the "cool" computer to have. so all the mac needs to do is impress users who buy...and that it does.
the mac's hardware is a sleek and awesome unix system. that's why true tech people love the mac. people that say the mac is for computer amateurs and the PC is for people that know what they are doing...are amateurs themselves.

neither macs or PCs are saying anything worthwhile with these ads. It's just mud-slinging. Thus is the nature of advertising, to take things in the ads as accurate descriptions of their or anyone else's product is to buy into the hype.

Every time I used a Mac I kept getting that spinning ball thing all the time. My school used Mac a while back and they kept freezing up so they had to write down appointments and stuff on memo pads until they switched back to PC. Also the Macs could NOT be upgraded we had to toss them out and buy brand new ones every tiem there was a change. But with a PC we could unplug stuff form the motherboard and replace it. Plug and Play. Also Macs look childish.

Plus obviously not getting the concept: Apple's campaign is about the machine itself, not the users. All those people are using computers which started as business machines (clones of IBM) designed to do boring tasks, while Macs were designed with creativity in mind from the start, implementing the mouse and graphic and audio/visual capabilities first, thus the suit vs. jeans concept.

I use a PC.
Ive used a MAC, they suck. All they ever do is make simple things harder to do. Everything "creative" that you can run on a mac you can run on a PC. Song Vegas, Adobe Premiere, all run on windows better than a MAC.
And as far as people saying that more artistic people use macs, that's not true. MACs are just simpler to use on a basic level then windows. So people who aren't as good with computers find them easier to use. But when you mac brakes (and it will) have fun fixing it.
