AH! Chopping down trees and bashing an evil eagle's skull in! They can't make movies like this anymore. Give me the days before PC and all the crap we have to deal with today. I love these old movies. Thank you so much for posting!
And if they were to know who he was, it would probably be in conjunction with his most infamous film, Birth of a Nation, and probably wouldn't look past that and most likely discredit him right away, even though Broken Blossoms, Intolerance, and BOAN in many ways, are all incredible feats of filmmaking, regardless of period.
@GriffithMovies your affirmation is not totally true, many people know who is Griffith, specially people invovled in cinematography, is an obligated reference, although is not the most known movie figure
I didn't say that he was the main woodsman, but one of the other woodsmen (there were four in total, as you know). If Walthall were indeed one of the others, that pushes his film premiere back one year, meaning that he made even more films for us to enjoy! Ah, what a pleasant thought that is.
great tune

Remember, if an eagle steals your baby it is important to drop the gun and go back in the house for your hat.
Great bit of history! Thanks!

Whats intresting is that Griifith in five years created an art fom out of all this. But no one today knows who he is.
GriffithMovies 2 years ago 2
That's true, I never heard of Griffith not until seeing this video and reading the description. He should be given credit for this.

According to the IMDb, Henry B. Walthall is one of the woodsmen. Walthall later became one of Griffith's stable of actors.

wrong....its Griffith as woodsman. Walthal wasn't even in pictures yet. Wonderful wrong history.
