and , this father in another one of his videos, the one about sin talks about the 10 commandments. how can he admire chaplins. chaplins are there to help people who murder for a living? to help them feel better about it?

@amigojapan It is not to make them feel better about it. He does quite the opposite. He makes him recognise the extent of the sin they have committed but does not leave them there. The priest leads them to accept the mercy of God. Wouldn't you like to be forgiven? Then why shouldn't they be forgiven by God.

@amigojapan Ohh I get where you are coming from. In a case like that the Church definitely encourages to seek reconciliation with someone you have wronged. However, there are some sins that are not done directly to other people. For example Idolatry and Lust. For these we must ask for forgiveness from God Himself.

Priests can do lots of good, if they aren't micro managed by their superiors. Sadly many Bishops so regulate a priest's schedule that they have little time for the ministry. We need to liberate the priesthood by abolishing the hierarchy in favor of a democratic and lay based form of governance.

Part of the problem is there is a shortage of priest, fewer and fewer people are being ordained. So it creates a problem cause the priest have their agenda and the bishops have thiers and when there is a shortage of priest it conflicts.

Do you really think that was meant to be taken literally? Come on. He was a great story teller and story tellers use hyperbole. If it was meant to be taken literally, then you should dig out your eye or cut off your hand if it caused you to sin as well. Stop being fundamentalist and open up your mind.

@KDN888 Well yes, we do have biological fathers and teachers, but that's not what this is about. Keep it in the context of spiritual guidance. It's about the inequality that fathers of your church presides over the laity. The only Father and Lord of the Church is God in Christ and our teacher is Christ. The pastor only teaches what Christ taught to his disciples. Your faith in Christ should not be of a respect of persons. You should not call the Pope Holy Father for only one is Holy.

@iceylittle I am glad you realise that it was not meant to be taken literally. Who is the one authorised to interpret it though? Surely, anyone can claim to be inspired by the Holy Spirit when reading scripture. eg Jim Jones.1Timothy3:15. What Church existed then? Also, our theology believes in only one priest, Jesus Christ. The men we call Father only join in His priesthood as he invited them into in John 20:21. When we call a priest Father, we acknowledge Jesus the Priest, not the man.

@KDN888 Christ is "Him who fills all in all" Eph. 1:23. All that live has God's "Spirit" Your breath is from God. Those who first believed "the Disciples" or, saints as you call them, and you the people, meaning everyone, receive redemption by the sealing of the Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:7-14 If we are all equal in our faith, and Christ is within all of us, why call one father and call the other laity? We are all brothers, sisters, mothers, and elders. But we only have one Father.

What hypocrisy? Simply look at the historical position of the catholic church, its popes,cardinals, bishops and priests. It's an institution based on authoritarian oppression of countless billions for centuries. It hasn't changed much in the modern period either. Just look at the lies and abusive behavior of priests against children. The tip of the iceberg.

There are a far lower ratio of priests who have been accused of Child molestation/abuse compared to the secular (i.e. non roman catholic) world. Thirty times more actually. There have been 265 Vicars of Rome, as counted by Hermannus Contractus. Priests are human and sometimes fall to the evil of corruption due to the incredible power and influence they have.

Besides everyone is born with everything, taht he needs to be what God wants him to become. You don't need to be baptized you don't need to tell your sins to somebody. All Jesus said was 1st love each other and 2nd live in pursuit of truth. And having an outside morality (like laws religious boarders to keep ourselves in) is just an easy option.

Respectfully, I do not agree with you. Man needs help on every level possible. Both from the Holy Spirit and from each other. I believe trust is necessary for you to be a follower of Christ, just as it is necessary in any loving relationship, be it filial or in marriage; between friends or for society to function. @SoldierWithoutAName I totally disagree with what you are saying. I'm sorry :( Why would Jesus give the disciples the power to forgive sins on His behalf if sin was not meant to be told to them? John 20:21. Why would St Paul say, confess your sins to one another? James 5:16. Jesus is not just about your own personal salvation. He is about the salvation of humanity. If we all just did everything on our own without anyone else, Jesus wasted His time setting up a Church.

Thats why Catholics always prey for their leaders, that they remain humble. Dont blame the entire sum of 2000 years worth of mistakes on the church of today. That's like blaming the grandson for the sins of his great great grandfather. I'm not suffering from anything. Your institutional church suffers from hypocrisy and authoritarian psychosis. There have been literally millions of people in the US who have been abused by priests. Even more terrible has been the organized cover-up by bishops and the Roman Curia, including the present pope, Joseph Ratzinger. Dude, I am Roman Catholic and have been my whole life. I have first hand, empirical evidence of what the RC Church is about, and I am happy with it. However, human nature is fatally flawed, and you will always get bad apples in the basket, so we must always be vigilant. But that is the vast minority. The Church (ie the people) are good on the whole and the teachings of the chruch (those of Jesus, the Apostles and the doctors of the chruch) are perfect as far as im concerned.
