Funny, I did the same thing after viewing this video! I don't think that is a 1976 model... the front grill and tail light configuration are from 1977. You know how car companies always release their "new" models a year ahead of time.
@JP5466 I wikipedia'd and found out in 1976 the Pinto came with two engine to chose from a 2.3 L OHC - 92 hp (69 kW) and 121 ft·lbf (164 N·m) or a 2.8 L Cologne - 103 hp (77 kW) and 149 ft·lbf (202 N·m). Going down hill probably helped in this high speed chase.
