  • this looks fun, i need to learn to snowboard... but i think I need snow.

  • Hey! Thanks for the help :) Your videos are amazing!

What jackets and pants are you wearing? I love them!!

  • i did my first method today. SO FUN THANK YOU DOUG

  • i think my biggest issue is extremely small town hill jumps with shitty landings, ive found we have to make most of the nice huge jumps

  • Great Vid - those Tail Grabs are so steezy!

  • your wrong. drink more.

  • peace out! Nice board with pig!

  • @Jange4ROCKS and yea.. i got this cheap video me doing a tail grab.. Come check it if you got some time. Keep doing good work!

  • fuckin methods are weak kid!

  • i have same jacket! woo

  • for nose grabs, how do you suck your front leg in so much? no matter how much i try, i just can't reach my nose

  • slo mo nose grabs look sooo steezy

  • nose grabs are the toughest at first. Especially if you skateboard, because it goes against everything. Tail grabs will pop right into your back hand if you just think oabout how you ollie. But nose grabs, you really gotta keep your back leg straight, or you'll miss the nose every time. lol

  • Q_Q in the URL :D

  • You don't want to wait till your back foot is coming off the lip. You want to pop it when your front foot is at the top of the lip.

  • great job once again ole dougy boy! tell me do you have any footage of yourself just shredding? youre pretty sick man be sweet to see ya tear shit up

  • what do you think is the easiest grab to start with?

  • @fatskillet13 probably just letting both legs come up and grabbing the middle of your board. thats what my first grab was

  • i felt like you were gonna kiss me...

  • I've been watching some of your vids and I'm going snowboarding soon. I'm excited to seen if These tips will help me with some of the things that were difficult before. (I've been snowboarding for 4 years so it's not like I'm a beginner trying to learn, just to see if I can improve more.)

  • 1:30 was crazy

  • You've got some steezy nose grabs

  • @brennanlong610 took the words right outa my mouth

  • Doug, You are the one who has inspired me to snowboard two years ago!

  • i forgot to let go and landed on my hand 9 stitches and my now im watching this video to try again. damn my persistence.

  • What grab was at 0:52?

  • @gretschdrummer100 method

  • where is this

  • @werecat1119 Mammoth Mountain ....YAY! COME ON WINTER!

  • That Japan at 0:44 was the cleanest I have ever seen. WOW...

  • As well as just riding trails?

  • I need new bindings and boots for my snowboard and there are so many to choose from, I have no idea which ones to get. Anyone have any suggestions for if I plan on doing similar stuff to whats in this video?

  • @Fultzyy This all depends on how tall you are, how much you weigh etc etc. But what I like to use for that kind of stuff, is the Burton Custom, some Diode EST's (if you can afford them) and Burton Imperial boots. That would be my ultimate setup when it comes to Pow riding. I love Burton stuff but you might not, it's all just personal preference. Ride and Libtec make good stuff. It's hard to go wrong.

  • @shadowblade145 Hey, thanks for the recommendations! I doubt I could afford the Diodes because Im a poor college kid right now. I guess I will look into Libtec, because I had Ride bindings and broke them after about a month of use.

  • @Fultzyy Yeah I know the feeling. Libtec makes really good stuff, and if you're looking for good bindings that aren't Burton go with Union. Their 2012 line just came out and it's probably the best lower priced gear out there. I had a chance to ride some Contact's and they're amazing. Good luck on the hunt to find a new setup :D

  • Do you pop your board off the lip like you would ollie on a skateboard? or do you just float it and let the jump do the work?

  • @monkey298 i like to pop up with both feet just like on a trampoline if i spin or do grabs like melon and stail but with nose i like to do that ollie ish thing.. :) just do what you think is the most confirtable :)

  • so much better than expert village or any other how to videos.

  • my favorite grabs are the chiken wing, one-foot indy(super hard), mute stalefish tucknee, indy tucknee/tweaked

  • no doug, thank YOU very much, thankyouverymuch thankyouverymuch

  • @mssideaks - ;-)

  • @sierrasnowboard how tall are you doug?

  • @mssideaks Agreed - Doug is the man! Learned a lot from him last season off of YouTube, and am a better rider thanks in part to his sensible and well-explained advice. Thx Doug & all @ Sierra Snowboard, and happy riding everyone! B-)

  • im popping of the jump really good and i have the formation of the grab but i cant reach it idk what to do

  • @TheRollerbladinCat - The board needs to come up to your hands for the grab. So bring your knee closer to your chest to make sure you have the reach.

  • @TheRollerbladinCat YOGA... it helps..

  • 0:08 OUCH!!!!!

  • sweet jacket where did you get it

  • @nubject Burton Shawn White Transition Jacket - TruSnow(dot)com

  • What bindings are you using?

  • @connordd2 - Burton Cartels and Burton CO2

  • jump in the background at 1:46 looks gnarly!!

  • whats better to get use to for kickers like that

pop off both legs or ollieing

  • @smiley0970 - Either way you want to pop off the tail of the board. Extending both legs as the back foot comes off the lip of the jump is a good place to start.

  • @sierrasnowboard even for spinning?

  • what's the best grab to start out with (easiest)?

  • @yesssi - Indy Grab is a good one to start with.

  • mammoth :D

  • so i should pop off wen my back leg is like at the edge of the ramp or back foot

  • @xXLevelCooldudeXx1 - Pop as the backfoot is coming of the jump so that you can generate pop through the tail of the board.

  • dude i am looking for a cheap but good board can you help me find one and keep up the nice vids

  • @122sausage - Check out the Sierra Stunt on TruSnow!

  • i tried a nose grab without knowing wth i was doing....i ended up leaning forward and not grabbing my nose. That almost went really bad lol

  • @Spulegence - Bring your board to your hand, not your body to your board.

  • @sierrasnowboard Yeah i realized that after watching ur video lol thanks man

  • Is there like a limit to how big the jump has to be for like tailgrabs and stuff

  • @1xXD4N13LXx1 - no limit, big or small

  • hahaha nice ending :)) you rock Doug xDDD

  • @RamboLastManStanding - Thanks ;-)

  • my friend has the same hat and jackket

  • When i nose grab, i just cant seem to get the nose in reach. How do i really get my leg to bend like that.

  • @xx4eversk1llzx - Allow the pop off the lip to help drive the front knee up to your chest. Also make sure to keep your back leg straight to get the board to guide up towards your hand.

  • @pook444able - We are Rockstars by Does it offend you

  • Nice bro. Is this at mammoth?

  • @viewzalot - Much of it is at Mammoth

  • where is this filmed at?

  • @michiganwolverine987 - Mammoth, Squaw & Northstar

  • u guys r so helpful thanks

  • for real the guy who invented snowboarding should get an oscar and the peace nobel-price for maths

  • How are you popping like you say in the video? On a lot of the jumps it doesn't look like you're popping off the lip of the jump at all

  • @LilRobby88 - It is still a push of the legs even if you cannot see a large leg extension. The movement comes from the ankle.

  • @sierrasnowboard

    its true.

  • what about grabs while spinning? same thing?

  • @armadillodude2992 - Same thing just tie the retraction of the legs and the movement of the hands to the movement of the rotation.

  • what the heck those jumps are crazy o.O i can bearly stand up after just sliding over a half meter jump :p

  • the final seems a japanese guy saying "Arigato", "Arigato", "Arigato"

    LOL

Cool vid, thanx for the tips :)

  • I feel so good watching this video, when I go try them I realize how bad I am.

  • that was an amazing vid you r sick

  • When I was 7 I took my snow board 3 bales of hay and piled snow of the hay then made it into a ramp then packed it down with my snow board and got like 6 feet air and sprained my ankle

  • this helps a lot, thanks

  • Do you film all these vids at Mammoth?

  • @cdawghimself - No just some of them

  • Thank you very much.

  • @THATMADIRAQI I know what you mean, a lot of these kinda tricks I don't think I would find that hard, but it's the fear of crashing or underestimating the size of a jump that holds me back (lets face it jumps always seem twice as big when your on them). It's easy for me to sit here and watch these tricks and think yeah i'll try that one tomorrow, but I know when i actually get out there in front of the jumps i'll pussy out :/

  • Thx

  • Your vids are the best. Thx for da help. I'll try it out soon. Can you email me a video on waxing the snowboard?@ waxer13@gmail.com. Thx

  • @bobby1042 - We are working on a new one.

  • yes better than the village, 1 question, do i jump with my both feet or ollie the jump?

  • @fuckusaignorants - You jump with both feet and as you develop more technique you can start to utilize aspects of the ollie to get even more pop off the jump.

  • @THATMADIRAQI - What is bad is when your speed is off so that you miss the landing. Most landings/crashes are not the bad if you hit the landing zone of the jump.

Bad - Going too slow for the jump and not making it too the landing.

Really Bad - Going too fast for the jump and airing over the landing and crashing in the flats after the jump.

Practice your speed judgment on small features and work your way up slowly.

  • @sierrasnowboard And don't forget to commit.

  • @sierrasnowboard Is there anyway to know the speed at which to approach a jump or does it just take time and practice?

  • i love the beginning

  • i bought my first snowboard the other day(rossignol hellraiser) is that a good board?

  • @overload290 IMO its a good first board, its what i have. this is my second season snowboarding and my second season with my rossignol but next year im getting a salomon.

  • have u ever ran over your fingers during landing of a grab?

  • SO MUCH BETTER THAN EXPERTVILLAGE!!!!

  • you Man are so Clear.....Every Time I want to learn something new....I just start watching your Videos!

    Thanx from Italian Alps!

  • @pepperoni1986 - Happy we could help!!

  • Doug is a boss.

  • u guys are my favorite instuctional channel. just so ya know

  • not only did you provide an excellent instruction video, you also took the time to answer the questions in the comment section, something not many people care to do. well done

  • @halodemo65 - Glad that you appreciate the effort - Doug

  • Subscribed :D

  • What's the website address doug ? I'm living in ireland, do they ship to there from America ?

  • @damienk11 - We ship internationally for sure.

    Sierra Snowboard (dot) com

  • Maybe the positioning of my binding is not right ? I'm regular stance and there in "duck" stance , should I change the binding to a more agressive stance ie. There degrees and both faceing down the hill ? Thanks man

  • About 190 lbs to 200 lbs , my board is fairly stiff I think anyway it's a Lamar ( I know there crap ) . Would get a new board for freestyle stuff if I need too , and just use the other 1 for just boarding more long distance stuff , what u think ? What kinda board would u reccomend too ? Thanks man

  • @damienk11 - I recommend up grading from the Lamar for sure. Check out the Sierra Reverse Crew in a 159. Set your bindings in a duck stance. 15 in the front and -9 in the back. I ride 12, -12.

  • Hey Doug , does your board have to have good flex to do tricks and what height should my board be for tricks ? I'm 6' 1' = 185cms and the board I have is 159cms is this too big for me to do tricks ? Thanks man

  • @damienk11 - The board is not too big for you to do tricks. The first attribute you should think about when selecting a size if your weight. How much do you weight?

Most my boards are a soft to mid flex, which is great for freestyle riding.

  • what kind of grab was that at 1:52

  • @chilibro - It is a double grab known as a Rocker Air. Both hands grab the nose of the board.

  • Thanks so much ive been having trouble when i moved away from the snow on every wow thanks so much!! im ready to shred!

  • @goobergoon - Awesome!!

  • @ seirrasnowboards thank you!!

  • @TheRoyalChaos - Happy to help anytime

  • @seirrasnowboards. When I try to do a grab I end up rolling down the windows . I have my indy but I don't know what to do

  • @TheRoyalChaos - If you are rolling down the windows a number of things could be going on: Stance is leaning back slightly, not using your legs to resist the curve of the takeoff or timing is off with your pop.

Make sure to get a basic straight air without the grab first.

Learn to move your board in the air, nose/tail up and down, as well as rotate (shifty).

Addressing these things can help bring balance to your riding while in the air.

  • You have my goggles ......sweet!

  • How do you like the Un...Inc?

  • @etannoom - I love the UnInc. Great board!

  • uninc ftw

  • do u do international shipping?

  • Yes, see out site.

  • what would it be called to do a method, but grab the toeside, like wrap your arm on the bottom and grab the toeside then tweak it up

  • @Hawkster0001

    it´s a japan air---super fun 2 do;)

  • One of my favorites!!

  • oh and also if anyone knows what a good but not expensive brand is please let me know, i think burtons are sweet but alot of money and im pretty good at snowboarding but ive always rented stuf and i just wanna buy my own gear, board, bindings, boots and i want good stuf but nothin over 400 or 500
