  • Lead mello...1996-98! This is a beautiful encore....trumpets got a little tired toward the end! When & what did you play?

  • @wildhornbrass I haven't. I play snare drum, but I've still got four years before my drum corps life kicks the bucket. I'm mostly involved in indoor percussion though, so drum corps just may not happen.

  • Happy to come in 3rd to THIS in 1996!

  • @wildhornbrass Ah, so you were with the old Bergen County corps? What did you play?

  • No one plays classical like Phantom...my fave corps along with SCV. :)

  • PHANTOM 96!!! HOLY CRAP ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love phantom so much

  • So wish I was there!!

  • MELLOS FTW!! *O*

  • 1st) Ballet Suite No 4: Prelude ( Variations ) ( The Limpid Stream ) by Dimitri Shostakovitch

2nd) March Slav by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

3rd) 1812 Festival Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

  • Song 1:

Ballet Suite No. 4: I. Prelude (Variations) (The Limpid Stream)

    Song 2-3

1812 Overture- The entire last portion.

  • @Boopity24 The 2nd tune is actually Marche Slave, By Tchaikovsky as well.

  • the first piece is an excerpt from Shostakovich's Limpid Stream. They opened their show in 96 with it.

  • @JPHawk2011 To keep it in the EXACT key it was originally played in, JD definitely did SUPER WORK! If you're going to take an excerpt like that and use it as an encore piece, just leave it sounding like we all remember it. And that's what was done here, and I'm frozen in amazement!

  • @guitarmansegovia oh absolutely. The one comment I have is that this performance benefits from the increase in numbers in the hornline (specifically in the euph and contras). WOW.

  • yea it is

  • First one sounds like their 1996 show "A Defiant Heart" I think its the First movement from that show!
