Wow! you had quite a work here! And just a few people share it like you do. It's interesting to follow the steps of the making of. I had no ideia how to make a 3D movie (it's not my stuff) but I definitly find it interesting :)
What modeling programs did you use? I use blender. Extremely amazing job btw, if you could hire some people and form a company maybe you could be a potential competitor to Pixar :D
Man..please make a vid tutorial of the 3d tracking motion...how do you combine real video footage with 3d CG videos..( i'm interested how do you make the cam that is in the 3d software move just like the real one and follows the same shakes and moves?
stupid question but why do bother with such a complicated set up .. multiple passes etc etc ... is it to make things faster to render in the long run .. or is it so you have more control?
Yes and yes. It may seem complicated, but it depends more on what you're comfortable with. I'm am much more comfortable compositing than I am setting up tons of lights and complex materials. It's also faster because you can tweak a comp much more quickly than you can a 3D render. Also, I started this project 4 years ago. At that time, the hardware couldn't have handled everything in one or even a couple of passes.
Wow just looked through all your pigon imposible videos, they are great and a goldmine of information you should make a tutorial DVD or book that covers the start to finnish of making a short film! or maybe you are?
I'm planning to release all of the podcasts as part of the DVD for PI, but I've also tossed around the idea of doing a book. Is that something people would be interested in?
