and by the way I'm from Egypt and plz stop talking about language and nationality 4 a min. we've 2 c the people as they r...my words here 2 the Arabian people..Thx
gunsboy77?? How could she be Armenian and Arab?? She is Armenian and Syrian. Thats OK but not Arab!! There is a lot of Armenian, Kurds, Arameans and Cherkes beside Arabs in Syria and they are all Syrians..
even Cherkes people are there in Syria? The Cherkess from former Soviet Union? Do they have their schools and churches or they are muslims ha? Are they allowed to learn their language? And what is that Arameans? do you mean Armenians? Are there Armenian schools in Syria?
may be you have to travel in syria one day, to see by your self the multicultural nation, i can understand the confusion you have to make difference between arameans and armenians, i was living near an armenian school and an armenian church, they are more than 20 languages and communities in syria, so you have to learn more about the history of this country.
May be, one day I will travel to Syria, I have many non arabic friends from Damaskus. they really miss their homeland. I hope I will be able to communicate on one of those 20 languages, when I go there.
which you a nice travel, dont stay only in damascus, Aleppo is so important and muticultural town, dont forget the east region, homeland of ancient civilisations: mesopotamie, assyria, chaldanian and many others, if you want to hear the Aramean langauage, go to Maaloula city near damascus.. salutations
Well Cherkes are mainly Muslims and they use Arabic and call themselves Arabs now, and some Armenians do the same. Some Armenians however still go to christian schools and use their language.
I was not even thinking about Armenians, to your disappointment. Armenians are minority in your Syria. Armenians are all over the world and they have history of over 2000 years. If they are minority in Syria it does not mean that Armenians or their culture is going to disappear.
we have over 6000 years of connected history as well. I did not say they will disappear. I SAID they are Syrians in Syria and Iraqis in Iraq...et. There is a famous Iraqi-Armenian singer and her name is Seta Hugabian.
She speaks arabic, sings in arabic, lives in an arabic country = She is an arab. You can be an arab and something else too. Regardless, she has a great voice. Very classy artist.
you cant say that she is an arab, the arab is a language and culture, even your roots and origin, so she is syrian, and she have armenian roots, we are proud of her and any body living in syria.
@hoda1900 wat do u mean by Arab is a language and culture?! .. we are Arabs and our roots from Arabian Gulf 3500 b.c , haven't u ever heard about Canaanites and Phoenician?? they came from Arabian Gulf!! .. we are Arabs at the first and then we r Syrian.. but when u would like to talk about new immigrants to Syria (less than 150 years) it's a different story.. but when talkin about native Ppl they r 100% Arabs
listen, the Prophete Mohamed, says: you are not arab by father and mother, but by the language (al lissan). that's why "Salman al Farissi" and " Souhaib al Roumi" and "Bilal al Habachi", feeled arabs by the appartenance to a language and religion. donr give a racial explication to a culture matter. i give you an exemple: the Comores islands (jozor al 9amar) became an arabic country, but the people have not "arabs roots as you say", they became a member by the appartenance to the language.
she is armenian and we are as (i am not a syrian) human who can understand the language of the song proud of her original, her voice, her culture (which is mixed between syrian and armenian) and everything about her :))))).
Exactly, her singing of "sareri hovin mernen" is a mix. But it is not her fault. that is the destiny of an Armenian. She sings beautifully, with that armenian mourn in her voice. but the arabic passages obviously interrupt the melodic line. As I said it is the destiny of an armenian. Still, she sings very well.
I do not know if she has arab ancestors or her mom may be an arab. (you might know more, you sound confident about her being arab) but her last name is armenian.
Besides Pushkin, the great Russian writer, his grandfather was an arab. But Pushkin was never considered an arab writer.
I have nothing to say about her talent, she is amazingly talented.
listen, when you are in a country, you are mixing to the culture, to the traditions,.. i mean you became a citizen of this country, all americains are migrants from all the world, but they are americains, they dont denied theirs europeans or africains roots, but they live together in one nation. and its the case in syria, syrian people have many roots and its so nice and rich. Lena is proud to be syrian with armenian roots, and i like her as artiste thats all.
The "listen" makes me feel that you want me necessarily to agree with what ever you think is right. Well, first of all to be a citizen of a country does not refer to the nationality and gens of a person. Is Syrian a nationality? Do you know who are the native American's? Native Americans are Indians. An American citizen is a status of people who live in America, follow the constitution and all have equal rights. And because of that very reason Americans are proud Americans. Continued
Leaving in one nation does not mean to mix the culture and traditions to me. But to leave in peace and respect each others traditions is a necessity. The important part is, to love each other the way we are. To love each others songs the way they were born, not arranged, so others would like to listen. I wonder if a German person would like someone to perform Bach in a way of the other country's demand. Art is not a citizenship status. Its value is in its origin.
and clinton is an irish and bush are scotish and all americains are from abraod, did you get it? why they feel americains? if Lena feel syrian thats not mean that she ignored her roots, try to undertsand that.
Are not you saying that "listen, when you are in a country, you are mixing to the culture, to the traditions,... " That is why you like her singing?
Would you be listening to her singing if she would not mix her singing style, if she would sing only traditional armenian songs? I never said that Lena is not proud of her roots. I do not know her personally. And it is up to her. We are talking about art.
i don't know if you've been to Syria but its the country that has the biggest Armenian population in the the Arab world , if you go anywhere in Syria , you`ll find Armenians to be as proud to be Syrian as much as they are proud to be Armenian because in Syria you multiple national identity is very accepted . i don't know what do you have against Syria but we are proud of her Syrian and Armenian.
@trexaur123 I have not been in Syria. But I have so many friendly and not friendly invitation, that I think I should visit Syria one day.
Also, about being against. First of all, again, nationality and citizenship are two different categories. Nationality is something nobody can change. It is a gene, unless mixed marriage accurs. A citisenship is the inviroment that human being might appear in due to political or personal choices.
@JOROTIK Yes I agree she is Armenian. She was singing in perfect Arabic there though. Plus who cares what she is? She sounds great and that's all I care about.
@loosergroup85 Yes you can be. What is the definition of an Armenian? and What is the definition of an Arab? What is so funny about it? If you do not want to admit that you are both, that does not change the fact that you are both.
Definition of Arab: a member of a Semitic people originally from the Arabian peninsula and surrounding territories who speaks Arabic and who inhabits much of the Middle East and northern Africa. She is from Syria and speaks Arabic = She is an Arab.

Its value is in its origin.

and clinton is an irish and bush are scotish and all americains are from abraod, did you get it? why they feel americains? if Lena feel syrian thats not mean that she ignored her roots, try to undertsand that.
hoda1900 2 years ago
Are not you saying that "listen, when you are in a country, you are mixing to the culture, to the traditions,... " That is why you like her singing?
Would you be listening to her singing if she would not mix her singing style, if she would sing only traditional armenian songs? I never said that Lena is not proud of her roots. I do not know her personally. And it is up to her. We are talking about art.

@nonaccord my friend
i don't know if you've been to Syria but its the country that has the biggest Armenian population in the the Arab world , if you go anywhere in Syria , you`ll find Armenians to be as proud to be Syrian as much as they are proud to be Armenian because in Syria you multiple national identity is very accepted . i don't know what do you have against Syria but we are proud of her Syrian and Armenian.
trexaur123 1 year ago
@trexaur123 I have not been in Syria. But I have so many friendly and not friendly invitation, that I think I should visit Syria one day.
Also, about being against. First of all, again, nationality and citizenship are two different categories. Nationality is something nobody can change. It is a gene, unless mixed marriage accurs. A citisenship is the inviroment that human being might appear in due to political or personal choices.

@gunsboy77
LOL YOU CAN'T BE ARMENIAN ARAB, I CAN BE Lebanese Armenian, Syrian Armenian, but not Armenian Arab??? hahahahah thats funny.
loosergroup85 1 year ago
@loosergroup85 Yes you can be. What is the definition of an Armenian? and What is the definition of an Arab? What is so funny about it? If you do not want to admit that you are both, that does not change the fact that you are both.
Definition of Arab: a member of a Semitic people originally from the Arabian peninsula and surrounding territories who speaks Arabic and who inhabits much of the Middle East and northern Africa. She is from Syria and speaks Arabic = She is an Arab.

@loosergroup85 look up the definition of an arab in the dictionary then talk.
