Hi it's me again and my friend says her dog likes the ball better than the treat so this simply won't work, any suggestions? Please answer asap. Thanks
i have 2 months and a half french buldog. he is so hyper, he bites a lot, i get that he is like playing this way but it hurts a lot. i dont want to intimidate him, but its just so hard. i try to give hime solution - stick, toy, happily play with thim, but it helps only sometimes. so my question: how to teach him not to bite? is he to young to start clicker training? cause im introducing him to clicker, slowly. thank you so much
@zsianz1 I would like to know your answer to this as well! I have a 15-week-old AmStaff and she is feisty! She is extremely smart yet very strong willed and wants to do what she wants to do. She recognizes the click, but there are times when she's nipping at my 5-year-old daughter and I click and drop a treat or call her to me she doesn't respond because she is determined to torment my daughter AKA, her litter mate. Any advice is appreciated.
I really need to try this with my Bulldog. He's actually 7 months now and he only knows how to sit. I hope it's not too late!
One question I have is, how do you wean them off the treats? I have done some clicker training before, but Blake pretty much ALWAYS needs to have a treat for it to work...
@BlakeTheBullie it's never too late! I adopted a 12 year old dog that had no training and he now does all sorts of tricks, his name is Vinnie and you can see him in some of my latest videos :) you get it so as the behaviour is 100% first and then ask for 2 repetitions of the behaviour, verbally praise (no click or treat) for the first and then click and treat on the second, then ask for 3 repetitions before you click and treat and get up to around 5-7 and then ask for a variable number....
@BlakeTheBullie you should also try the behaviour out in lots of different places and soon you will be able to only reward with praise, always give lots of praise as they really are doing you a good turn by doing what you ask :) I also think it's good to reward old behaviours with a treat once in a while just to remind your dog that you really appreciate them doing it for you. hope that helps :)
@Pimpmastahanhduece clickers are actually very effective for dogs of any age as they are work as a very consistent and clear marker to the dog that what they were doing at the second they heard the click was the correct thing. check out my video "border collie tricks show" to see what is possible with clicker training tricks or "solving aggression towards a family member" to see how it works for behaviour :)
Great video, yet again! I really appreciate how you show and break it down into very basic steps. I know that it took a lot of work/timing on your part to make a video that shows the steps and not the finished actions. But it helps so much more!
what happens if your dog learns drop, but the minute you try to get the ball from him he takes it and runs off? but if you have treats he automatically leaves it for the treat..how can you make the drop reliable every time without always having to give food rewards? thanks!
Hi, great video, think you should put in a warning though. You were playing a very gentle 'tugging' for people who do not know a lot hard tugging with young puppies can damage the jaw before the adult teeth are in place.
i have to teach milo to drop things because he will take everything he can find and never let go.. ex. shoes and socks. thanks for posting this video!
Still working at it but my dog doesnt seem to be taking to it very well. She loves the treats. Do you think that her age has anything to do with it? Any advise would be great. (she is 6 yr old toy poodle). Thanks again!
This is neat to see. I have a 6 yr old toy poodle that I want to train. Dont get me wrong she is a wonderful dog but doesnt know much as far as tricks. Im glad to see that there is a positive way to train.TY so much!!!
That was easy to understand!!! Foxi making progess in that!! He is already 8 years old,but he hasn´t learned it!! So I have to teach him that! Your puppy is so talented!!! I love her!! =)
I will try to use the nice tip!!!!! looks amazing ! Timmy can´t ro it so fast but we try to do it faster than now. your dog is talented and learns fast! =) hihi <3 :-* bye
I just wanted to say I enjoyed this video. Keen knows leave it already, she also knows how to(most of the time) heel on left, right and between legs OFF lead. But she thinks walking ON a leash is a bouncing, tug of war, growling fun exercise! "Leave it" means nothing to her when she is rowdy on lead. I have never had a pup do this! Will try to post video so you can see what I mean. And, I am going to apply your method shown in this video and see if we can reverse the leash walking party games!
sounds like this might work well, let me know if you do get a video up and I'll take a look. you will prob be best to start this without putting the lead on, also walking round the house with her on the lead and not taking her out every time.
Hey Sian what a creative (and super easy) technique. I've been working with my dog about that yesterday, I got the results I wanted: I tell "leave it" and he leaves everything he doing at the moment.
What is pretty hard for me to figure out is how can I use command like "leave it" and the "positive interrupter" of Kikopup instead of "no" in order to reinforce house manners when I don't have 100% percents of the time treats available?
thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. It's amazing what you can do with clicker training, I'm going to be posting more behaviour videos in the near future so check back if you get the time and let me know what you think :-)
Really stellar video! It really blows my mind the things you come up with! I usually teach drop by putting food to the dogs nose, and then clicking when the dog drops the thing, but this is so much cooler! This is WAY more easier for clients to do! They usually fumble around with the food on the nose technique! Had to favorite it!
Lol. Why not start with something simple like a click for every sentence that doesn't contain a swear word? Then you could move onto anything from scrubbing the floor to giving you a pedicure.
I prefer training the work "like" and the letters OMG or BFF out of their vocabulary, but alas I think it's to late..
I actually have heard undergrads in my classes say the word like more than 10 times in [run on] one sentence. I had to restrain myself and think of a happy place to survive their question.
this is so good! Thanks for showing this, It may sound silly but I forgot how I taught Samson to drop stuff, when I get my next collie puppy I will definitely do this.

i think clickers are only nessesary for puppies, they just need something like that to break their concentration which words cant rly do.

Ok Deffinitly, Holley has the same stambaum as Fynnley :D THAT PLAYGROWL :D identically
I'm so happy. Fynnley isn't really attentif for such things, he likes to rush everything, same for Q, but his trainingtime belongs to my mom.
I'm gonna get a new puppy! ;) So i'll use all your tricks. But one question, your clickers noise is much louder then mine. which do you use?

zsianz1 3 years ago
Where do you get clickers?
I'm going to try it with teenage daughter.
My aim will be one click, & she'll drop the remote control, move away from the TV, & put away her laundry, rather than leaving it to gather dust.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Both Mabel & Holly look stunning, & you don't look too bad yourself!
