Though I don't feel it, I am an old man. I will be contributing to this world actively for about another 15 years and then I will be another pensioner who is a financial "burden" on the system. I may not be worth you risking your life for me as you are a young person who still has a lot more to contribute than I do but risking my life would be worth it for you so that you have the chance to contribute.
