I am guessing this is from the CBS run and not the syndicated show.

Yep, it is the CBS run, b/c the early eps. had those steel gold girders supporting the players' podiums and Jack's podium on the set and also Jack Barry greets the audience and viewers standing in front of the big Joker Machine.

and another difference between the CBS run and the syndie run's 1st season was that on the CBS run the back's of the audience members heads weren't as close up to the cameras as it was on the syndie run.

This episode was from premire week on wendsday. It was probably the only straight Q&A game on television at the time besides Jeopardy! It maintained the relaxed feel of being in LA while still maintaining a certain degree of seriousness. Also, the casino feel of the set gives the game the precise atmosphere to be in. Jack Barry did a 5 star job as the host, who knows what would have become of this show had Allen Ludden or Jim Mckrell been the emcee. Good game, good execution, and good job.

or what would've happened had Wink Martindale hosted this show.

Wink couldn't host since Heatter-Quigley beat Jack Barry to the punch by tapping Wink to host "Gambit" (which of course aired w/ TJW at the time).

Ironically, six years later, the Winker would go on to host "Tic Tac Dough" for a great 7 of the 8 seasons it ran.
