This is only a demo version, but I like it more than Meat's and it is only my own opinion. Arguing which version is better doesn't make sense. Just for the record, James Michael is a great producer, player and also singer and if you don't know him and his work, don't publish your stupid comments about him. If you think he doesn't have good vocal skills, just listen to Sixx: A.M. and you will be suprised.

finishing my point. I love Meats version by far over James. That being said i also love James version. It sound like a college frat band from the 60's. THAT IS COOL! Great Job James. Also goes to show you how great a song this really is. Prime example George Thorogood, has covered over 100 songs of old time Blues and R&B artists. Their songs are the original but GT adds a slide guitar & sax. Makes those old songs even better since Chuck Berry did not use slide or sax. Same songs different sound

WOW i cannot believe all the negativity towards James. Of course this version is not as polished as Meat Loafs. Meat loaf is big time muscians, and vocalist. James version is right out of his garage with his frat sounding buddies chiming in the background from the couch. That is the way he meant it to be. NOT RIGHT NOT WRONG. Just different. Look at how many songs the Beatles or Stones covered that are way better that the original Blues & R&B artists. Not better just polished.

@youngelvisnightowls how can it be a "bad" 'version'....when this is the Guy who WROTE it... yes it's not as polished as Meats...but Meat can afford much better producers ...WHAT this shows is there are plenty of GREAT writers out there....this version has SOUL.but maybe not POP.but it took a good producer to recognise the tune for what it IS....and took it to Meat.....who made a Classic out of it..for me....I LOVE meats version.......but I also LIKE the original......it's RAW,an IDEA...:)

@WillCrazie Its not that James can't afford the good production, he just recorded this as a demo for meat loaf and produced, recorded, mixed, and played all the instruments for the song on this demo. and he also produced meat loafs version. so no matter what the version of the song, james gets the credit cause he wrote it.

is this a joke version or is this the actual James Michael version? Either way this is absolutely awful, you may not like Meat Loaf's version but you can't change the fact Meat Loaf actually sings on his version rather than talks and also Meat Loaf's version sold more. Usually I'm very open minded to other versions of songs as everyone puts their own interesting spin on things but this will be my first and last time listening to this.

@RockOn164 Meat Loaf's version sold more because James Michael never officially released it. It's also a totally absurd argument because James Michael wrote, sang and played on both versions. This isn't James Michael's unique spin on the song, both versions of the song are James Michael's spin on the song. Meat Loaf is a good singer, but he doesn't write his stuff.

I cannot fathom how anyone can say meat loafs version is awful. I cannot understand that it is not even close to being awful. Actually it is amazing. This is just an original garage type version that is all. All Meat Loaf did was make it big production with many pieces louder guitars and great background singers. Same song different sounds. Actually as much as i love Meat Loafs version I still love this one it is a raw version. And there is something to be said about a simple raw version.
