Ok...this is what a techie friend of mine told me...A signal is either digital or analog. The quality picture of that signal is either standard or HD. In other words, just because you're receiving a digital signal it doesn't necessarily mean that you will be watching it in HD...you could still be watching it at standard def. What do you all think?
This is not right. They are broadcasting from digital signals now, not HD signals. If they were only transmitting from HD signals anyone without an HD TV would not longer be getting TV. That is not for at least 15-25 years.
@CaseRed0605 you are right but to clarify a bit more anything above 480 pix is considered HD it depends on a particular station if its video quality is in HD or not. For example, when big sporting events such as the super bowl is broadcast. The station will broadcast it HD becuase more viewers are willing to watch. HD is not a signal it is more like a quality/grade of the picture content. Most regular tv shows are still shown in stander definition not high definition.
@CaseRed0605 So my regular cable cord wont work with one of these? i dont understand...i have normal cable, Normal computer....Can i just plug this into my t.v and have cable??
the tuner card converts analog signal to digital and encodes the data so that your pc can output it as if it were streaming digital images. i'm not familiar with usb devices for this purpose but a quick wiki can surely set you right
