I do the factory default option...THEN it reboots...but it always pops up a user name and password option..And the admin u.n and pw dont work?? so...why would there be another u.n and pw on this new laptop? acer 4420..really never had this much of an issue fixing something..

I have a acer aspire one netboot and it came with windows 7 starter i then installed windows7 pro and i want back my old factory default settings i installed windows 7 pro because my erecovery HD was messed up it still works but it wont reboot the PC and go in the format and i get an error HDD config not set to factory default if i open my erecovery and create a factory default disc will it fix the problem i need to format my HDD to many things.

ty i didnt know you could do this through erecovery or whatever. i happen to like acers, i have NEVER had an issue with any. i have always bought acers and then just upraded and sold the ones i dont use. i do have an issue with a windows 7 error the critical battery error is frying my battery. its a 2 year old computer. im hoping a format wll help it. acer laptops are very easy to change out parts & al chargers work on their 14" and up laptops but DONT EVER BUY REFURBISHED LIKE I DID! BUY NEW

sesly acer is the worst shit ever. got a laptop and a pc from them and oh god... formatting them is so difficult compared to other pcs. they allways go BSOD in installton and it take days to solve the problems

@artin77kb ahh man that sucks! dont worry i can help you! ok well now your reformat is corrupted, BUT you can reinstall windows with a disk! if you have a legal copy of windows then just get into your laptop bios settings and have it boot from disk. insert disk save and exit then voila! if you DONT have a legal copy of windows, it is very(lol) easy to get a illegal copy of the pirate bay. go to thepiratebay. o r g and search for whatever version you want. get iso burner to burn the os file disk

ok well when your first booting your computer there is usually a acer logo at the beginning, at the bottom it will say something like press f2 for system settings etc. press the button is says to, find boot order, and read instructions on how to change boot order. move the cd/dvd drive to the top of the last, save and exit. make sure your disk is inserted and it should auto start. also if there is NOTHING on your computer, it should auto boot from disk. i hope this helps

So ya i open my computer and i found i had only 1 harddrive but it was partitioned so i went and bought a external harddrive and sfter i backed everything up on there i reformated my computer and everything saved on the 2nd half of the partition harddrive so i didn't need the external drive.

well that is the technical way. go through each hardrive and whjatever one has windows folder with drivers and windows files and such is the one with the os.

it depends on what drive the os is on. here try this, disconnect the drive that you will be putting everything thing on. then try and boot up the computer. if the computer doesnt boot, that drive has the os on it, and will be reformated so you should plug that in, put everything on the other drive power down. remove that drive, and reformat. this ensures nothing important gets erased

no u dont have to reinstall vista. thats thebeauty of reformatting. if you were to just flat out format, u would have to install vista. but by REformatting, it takes windows vista from a partition on your hardrive and puts it over everything, so anything else you had on there, including virus's, are gone. and u have a brand new, virus free os!
