The thing that strikes me is how every decades vision of the future is not much different from their present. For example in the 1970's they used orangey brown wall colours (aka typically 1970). In film of 2000, they used white lighting and touch screen computing.. hey, we do that now!

That was very well done... but it made me sad, because, for the most part, it is a reminder of how trashy and dumb the recent sci-fi movies (minority report, matrix, etc.) are, compared to brilliant movies like Blade Runner and 2001.

Matrix and minority report are a new generation of sci-fi, reflectng a different contemporary technocratic western culture. I love bladerunner and 2001, but as a young adult i relate much more to matrix and minority report, cube and solaris are amongst my favorites too. It's just a different zeitgeist, reflecting decades of rapid cultural-political-technologic­al change.
