@CrackerJacker43 Yes. In each of my play-troughs of ME2 (currently, in a 4th go round), The Council is alive and well. However, I just may play ME2 again, using the Genesis DLC to have The Council die. I have a minor interest in seeing how that plays out in the story.
Incidentally, I admit that I had Wrex dead in my first 3 ME2 plays. Used Genesis DLC to have Wrex be alive in my current game. Looking forward to seeing him.
@CrackerJacker43 i let them die once. in a game set up the way this is its better to have people with that much power on ur side
in ME3, im guessing the council will play a big role when you go for help. if you let the original council die, im assuming the new council will do something similar to what you did when fighting Sovereign and Saren
the only conciler i dont like is the turrian one cause the others are giving at least reasons and going"we belive that you belive in them, so since your a specter do what you have to do to stop them" while the turrian one is just going"your a fucking moron for beliving in them
yep dumb idea for me to let these idiots live, but i'll tell you one thing if that turian counsellor asks me for help and i have a choice i'm gonna tell him where to stick it because they're "not real" and i so hope you get to use quotation fingers in the game lol
Collector - Assuming Direct Control of this Councillor.
Turian Councillor - You don't exist.
Collector - ....oh...never mind.
Turian Councillor - You see Shepard, there's no need for you to parade around the galaxy starting wars...if you simply admit the enemy doesn't exist, there's nothing they can do.
i thought it immoral at first but it's clear now: they deserve to die. i let them die in my playthrough with no remorse. i saved the universe from the reapers, and i let you know the geth were going to attack
...
and yet reapers are still a fairy tale and you still let saren and a fleet of geth surprise you and wipe out your defenses? they got what was coming
i find it sad that they didn't belive shepard there was proof of the Reapers everywhere and Shepard even brought back Evidence after destroying the collecters base and they still didn't belive him i gotta say i regret saving the council bunch of idiots
@fl333r Lol, the councillors actually accepted the existance of the reapers at the ending of ME1.
Anyway, this actually sets for something cool, the people who saved the council, will get an special "I told you" moment in ME3 with shepard raising his/her 2 middle fingers to them, while the cidatel is being attacked by the reapers.
@xxSkeletons84xx The human council isn't much nicer. But yeah I agree, I wasn't going to put human lives at risk and possibly the entire galaxy to save them.
I took shit from the council through all of ME1. I wanted so badly to let the Destiny Ascension burn. I saved it so those fuckers would appreciate me and THIS is what I get? Fuck it, I am gonna start ME1 again and let them die the fiery death they deserve.
Ok guys I let the Council live! My reason is that I did Report to them every time and they said once "Think about it lik ethis Shepard; We have Judgement over 3,000+, We need solid evidence or we might have a riot on the entire citadel!" That changed my judgement. Plus, I saved the destiny ascension which was BOSS!
if i can kill them in me3 they will die. if theres option for each. asaria lives cause shes not a dick salarian gets falcon punched cause he doesnt listen and turian dies becaus ehes a dick head
@ShadeIsaac i'm really hoping that if you saved the council, in ME3, if you make it to the Citadel and they mention the attack by reapers you go "Ahh, yes, the 'reapers'. I was under the impression you idiots dismissed that claim."
Shepard: Yea, remember when I told you about those Reapers who were an evil race of machines that destroyed all intelligent life in the galaxy every 50000 years?
Turian Councellor: They don´t exist, but yea.
Shepard: Well, they´re on your roof now, about to destroy the whole Citadel and you along it. But hey, they don´t exist so you´re safe. Have fun with that while I get the hell out in my spaceship.
@Greil9 if you get a chance to let them die or at least say fuck you in mass effect 3 i'm totally doing it... letting them die only if no civilians die too. but i feel the exact same way about the council... the only reason i saved them was because that ship had civilians on it and military is meant to protect civilians. in my moral rule book at least.
@facebunch Too bad I can´t even go for the "Kill them in ME 3". My character does not kill if there is another option, no matter what the guy did. My only hope is I have to choose between Council and a bunch of civillians since "needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".Then I won´t even have to think about the morality of my choice.
@facebunch I actually let the council die in the first. the characters just pissed me off too much so i never saw that meeting with legion rofl. Besides, with them out of the way its easier to focus on the reapers.

@freespace2dotcom ..... I really do think I'll throw something out my window in frustration if I don't get my "I told you so" moment. That's the whole reason I kept those idiots alive in the first place >:(
@jimmypop1222 Well, the Reapers are coming to Earth, which is a human planet. I ME2 when human colonies disappeared, the council didn't give two fucks. So I doubt they'll give a shit. Worst leaders of the galaxy EVAR
@saph2104 Good point forgot about that, And when the Reaper ship was destoryed all over the Citadel they just said it was a Geth ship, so I wonder what they are going to make of it all when Shep turns out to be right lol. Also how much do you want to bet you will have to save them AGAIN... lol
The "i told you so moment will be indeed very satisfying", but the truth is they are absolutely right. The only proof that Shepard provided was a story, and every kind of evidence provided thus far is open for interpretation, while much more likely explanations exist.
If they say in ME3 that the giant space ship tentacle thingies that are blowing the fuck out of earth, ARENT Reapers, and just some super advanced geth race. Im going to sick Wrex on their scaly asses.
Every time the council ignores Shepard, spectres go rouge, the citadel gets attacked, and humanoid bugs abduct people. Anyone else seeing a pattern here.
i look at the council the way i look at our government when it comes to any alien life they deny that they know anything and will likely be denying that any aliens that show up on our doorstep are aliens i dont fucking get it i really wish that they would release everything that they know so that we are more prepared for our inevitable contact with exterestial life because if they dont i think that even if or et neighbors are friendly and wish us no harm people might attackthem outof ignorance
Can you imagine in Mass Effect 3, after fighting through the war torn Earth and going to the Citadel to ask the Council for help and they still don't believe you. I so hope there is a renegade interrupt option to literally knock sense into those ignorant bastards.
@BrightFilms117 should have let em die in part 1 in their last moments they realized we were right & they are wrong. their ignorance is their downfall. whether paragon or renegade bureaucrats like them deserve whats coming to them selfish assholes.
In my first paragon playthrough I let the council die. However, during my renegade playthrough I saved them, bearing in mind the other species reaction to your letting them die might mean the other races or more reluctant to help in Mass Effect 3. That's just an idea. It isn't concrete
Yeah fuck the council I let them die because they were irrelevant in addition to being a complete bunch of dumbasses, and in a few weeks I may end up throwing the new council under the bus too cause they seem just as tarded.
Wish their was a way to kidnap Turian counsellor and start slowly cutting him. then while his almost completely knocked out from blood loss, Shepard rapes his wounds. Then as a warning we chop his head off and nail it too the destiny ascension with a sign saying "you're nest, love shepard"!
Afterwards shepard cuts his three fingers off and sell them to vorcha for food, then bangs Liara.
Why would Shepard lie about something like that. They can't just dismiss his claims, they owe him that much, afterall he did save their lives. My Shepard did anyways.
I love how everyone bashes on the Council for "dismissing" the threat. I will genuinely laugh my ass off if in ME3, Shepard goes to them and says "I told ya so" and they say "Yeah, we believed you all along. Here's a huge fuck-off army to help out." Y'see, by acknowledging the threat, they're forced to publicly act upon it. By pretending to ignore it but giving Shepard free rein to investigate, they're keeping the whole thing out of the public eye and avoiding panic.
I saved the council so the galaxy didn't think that I believed only in human dominance, they still pissed me off in their lack of faith in me and dismissal of the impending doom known as the Reapers
My main complaint about the Council is that, by the time they eat crow and ask Shepard for help against the Reapers, there is no hope of the exchange being funny enough to live up to our expectations.
The Council's entire role over the past two games have been a setup for the "OHSHI-" moment when they beg Shepard for help against the ancient, many-angled machine gods from beyond space. Any joke with a 5-year setup is going to be a letdown, no matter how awesome it may be in absolute terms.
@GodzillaMaster322 As it is im keeping them alive so the galaxy is less fragile, BUT that doesnt mean im going to race to their rescue if given the choice, other planets come first including all races.
@GodzillaMaster322 i only saved them because the ship they was on was so powerful it is meant to be an equal to the rest of the asari fleet combined...
seriously despite the 10k troops onboard, letting the council die is a good idea, their incompetance is leaving everyone unprepared, a smarter council that acknowledges the threat would be better
@Tommonius On the contrary, killing the Council only gets the other races pissed off at humanity, which would be one thing to avoid if Shepard's trying to get all the races to fight against the Reapers.
And the Destiny Ascension pretty much sucked, if it was as powerful as everyone said it was, it wouldn't have been threatened to be destroyed by the Geth fleet in the first place.
@GodzillaMaster322 It was also announced in a magazine for ME3 recently that the Human Council are more reluctant to help Shepard while this one will be more willing to help him against the Reapers.
I killed the council in all my play-through of mass effect 1 cuz they wouldn't listen to me....Lol.

It's for this very reason that I let the original council die...

So... there is a geth standing right their AND telling them its not their ship but they dont believe.... they dont help in ME3 ima kick some ass!!!
horserider123a8 3 weeks ago
The "i told you so moment will be indeed very satisfying", but the truth is they are absolutely right. The only proof that Shepard provided was a story, and every kind of evidence provided thus far is open for interpretation, while much more likely explanations exist.

Pheonix7king 1 month ago
Can you imagine in Mass Effect 3, after fighting through the war torn Earth and going to the Citadel to ask the Council for help and they still don't believe you. I so hope there is a renegade interrupt option to literally knock sense into those ignorant bastards.
BrightFilms117 1 month ago
@BrightFilms117 should have let em die in part 1 in their last moments they realized we were right & they are wrong. their ignorance is their downfall. whether paragon or renegade bureaucrats like them deserve whats coming to them selfish assholes.
DIM28073 1 month ago
@DIM28073 the only reason i kept them alive is for the inevitable "I told you so" conversation you will have in ME3.

(Mass Effect 3 starts, Reapers invade the Galaxy)
Council: "Oh if only we were warned about the Reapers!"
Shepard: O.O
WiiKingMattitude24 1 month ago
@WiiKingMattitude24 Knowing Bioware, they would make the Council argue a very similar point to that, just to piss off the player.
GoddyofWar 1 month ago
In my first paragon playthrough I let the council die. However, during my renegade playthrough I saved them, bearing in mind the other species reaction to your letting them die might mean the other races or more reluctant to help in Mass Effect 3. That's just an idea. It isn't concrete

Even on my parigon Shepard I let the council die . . . because they were just a bunch of SHITS.

Why doesn't Legion explain about the Heritics attack on the station?
Supersmashodsts8 1 month ago
that's why I decided to let the council die at the end of ME1. they are just too stupid and naive to rule the galaxy.

@BlazingWarrior117

I really want to punch the council in the face. Hopefully that will be the case in ME3
legendarycupcake 1 month ago
Why would Shepard lie about something like that. They can't just dismiss his claims, they owe him that much, afterall he did save their lives. My Shepard did anyways.
SINBADASS1147 1 month ago
I love how everyone bashes on the Council for "dismissing" the threat. I will genuinely laugh my ass off if in ME3, Shepard goes to them and says "I told ya so" and they say "Yeah, we believed you all along. Here's a huge fuck-off army to help out." Y'see, by acknowledging the threat, they're forced to publicly act upon it. By pretending to ignore it but giving Shepard free rein to investigate, they're keeping the whole thing out of the public eye and avoiding panic.
That's politics, folks.
godoflemmings17 1 month ago 5
I saved the council so the galaxy didn't think that I believed only in human dominance, they still pissed me off in their lack of faith in me and dismissal of the impending doom known as the Reapers
PITY0THE0FOOL 1 month ago
My main complaint about the Council is that, by the time they eat crow and ask Shepard for help against the Reapers, there is no hope of the exchange being funny enough to live up to our expectations.
The Council's entire role over the past two games have been a setup for the "OHSHI-" moment when they beg Shepard for help against the ancient, many-angled machine gods from beyond space. Any joke with a 5-year setup is going to be a letdown, no matter how awesome it may be in absolute terms.

If keeping them alive wasn't important to the survival of the galaxy, I would've had them arrested for criminal stupidity
GodzillaMaster322 1 month ago
@GodzillaMaster322 As it is im keeping them alive so the galaxy is less fragile, BUT that doesnt mean im going to race to their rescue if given the choice, other planets come first including all races.
antony1397 1 month ago
@GodzillaMaster322 i only saved them because the ship they was on was so powerful it is meant to be an equal to the rest of the asari fleet combined...
seriously despite the 10k troops onboard, letting the council die is a good idea, their incompetance is leaving everyone unprepared, a smarter council that acknowledges the threat would be better
Tommonius 1 month ago
@Tommonius On the contrary, killing the Council only gets the other races pissed off at humanity, which would be one thing to avoid if Shepard's trying to get all the races to fight against the Reapers.
And the Destiny Ascension pretty much sucked, if it was as powerful as everyone said it was, it wouldn't have been threatened to be destroyed by the Geth fleet in the first place.
GodzillaMaster322 1 month ago
@GodzillaMaster322 It was also announced in a magazine for ME3 recently that the Human Council are more reluctant to help Shepard while this one will be more willing to help him against the Reapers.
