I started reading the book last month. Pirate Latitudes is a very intriguing book. When I first read it, something clicked into my brain and said, "This would make one hell of a great movie."

@The1910Phantom, as long as they do not cast Johnnt Depp and have The Pirates Of The Caribbean studio do it I will support at the theaters a serious, non Hollywood Pirate film. Let the British do it, what about it for even better results.

to be honest the book into a movie would pretty much be a combination of "Pirates of the Carribbean" and "master and commander". nothing too "omgawd amazing"

There are none. in this style? basically everything the man's ever written is a masterpiece. this was actually one his his worst-written/shorter stories. Not to say it wasn't a good book, but overall Michael has written books much more amazing, just pick one up.

Just read it. It has the same ritym other Michael's books, but I really felt a lack of "ambience". I didnt feel I was inside the ship, like in other books.

Anyway, it's another "must read" from Crichton. Unfortunately, the last one.
