So...Not believeing in god makes you a person with faith.
According to that way of thinking...Not collecting stamps makes you a collector of not collecting stuff?(According to him is Because that's what I collect......Nothing) so collecting nothing makes me a collector of nothing, but at the end that makes me a collector.
I am really sick and tired of idiots asking atheists for evidence that God does not exist. Listen up street theists, and write this down. It's very important. Only things that do exit are capable of leaving evidence behind. Things that don't exist cannot leave evidence of their non-existence behind. That is not only impossible, it is absurd! You theists assert that a god exists. Believe that if you want. But it you want me to believe it as well, you must provide me with evidence.
Yes, Mr. Confused, atheism is a counter to theism. Therefore, when theism finally disappears so will atheism. However, that ain't going to happen in my lifetime. So, I'll be an atheism for the rest of my life.
I recognize the third caller. It's the same man who is featured in pwhittingham's first "When Christians Get Cornered, They Get Angry" video. Too bad that, despite that episode airing almost 6 months before the one shown here, he didn't seem to learn very much in the meantime.
I'm an atheist. I don't believe there is a god. I also have faith that there is no god.
I also have faith that unicorns do not exist. I also have faith that the sun and moon still exist even when I can't see them. "Faith" has more than one definition. The faith I'm talking about is "trust based upon evidence and reason". "Faith" also happens to have a religious definition. Some people still fail to grasp that in the english language words can have multiple meanings.
@hardinmichael1981 Faith is belief without evidence. I don't know what definition you're talking about. Rational, skeptic, logic-minded atheists probably shouldn't use that awful word. It gives it more credit then it deserves. Words like faith, and spirituality are part of the problem. I have faith in nothing. No rational minded person should. I have a reasonable expectation that the sun and moon still exist when I can't see them.
After all the dust settles, we have only two choices. Either the universe brought itself into existence, or something outside the universe, an external cause brought it into existence. The problem is how something could brought itself into existence? Isn't possible, therefore the cause must be external. The only thing present was energy. The God of the Bible is described with the same attributes of energy before energy was described. The existence of God is the best explanation. Open your eyes
"You've been told many times before. Messiahs pointed to the door. No one had the guts to leave the temple." I find it so funny that these morons keep bringing up the 'Atheism is faith' idiocy. Fine, ok. Atheism is faith. That means I am part of the Abigfoot faith, and the Alochness faith and,.... Well, shit! I belong to so many religions, I don't know what to do with them!! I must have church for every hour of the day!... Morons.
what would the point of having an atheist group if there was no theists, what would we do meet up once a week and say to each other" i don't believe in nonsense for no good reason." Atheism is the response to theistic claims, it would be like having a rebellion with no empire to fight against, what would be the point?
God: I'm going to create man and woman with original sin. Then I'm going to impregnate a woman with myself as her child, so that I can be born. Once alive, I will kill myself as a sacrifice to myself. To save you from the sin that I originally condemned you to.
@TrynaGetBacToMyLuv Theoretically, Jebus is dead over 1900 years now. Still, not a single record of his bones/nails/teeth has come to our museums/labs... Just saying.
@TrynaGetBacToMyLuv Let me get right to my issue with a previous statement you made "Atheists know God exists but reject him because they are mad" This isn't true, I am an atheist and I can't be mad at God because i don't believe he exists, just like i'm not mad at Santa Clause or purple flying elephants. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. There is no evidence for the existence of God and that is why I don't believe.
Of course they're talking about religion (theism). Atheism is a direct response to theism - e.g.: it is the rejection of theistic claims and belief as a whole. Although the one host suggests it is the opposite of theism, I’m not sure that’s an entirely accurate way of looking at it. That is, no more than saying no to cake is the opposite of a tasty confectionary item. (Meaning: acceptance or rejection of theism isn’t the same as theism itself).
Faith in the religious sense means believing in something that can be proven. We atheist lack such a belief. So atheism can not be said to be a faith.
Perhaps they talk most about christianity because the vast majority of the mouth breathers that call in are CHRISTIAN, or it could be because having been raised in the us they have more knowledge of christianity then the do of islam or hinduism.
This caller is correct. These atheists are intellectually dishonest. The motive of this show is to express hatred towards Christians. They claim they speak against Christians because Christians are trying to interfere with their lives. If that is true, why don't they argue on THAT point instead of ridiculing Christians? If it's about "God" then why not talk about Islam? If UFO people wanted to teach about UFO's, I would argue that we should not teach that. I wouldn't argue there are no UFO's.
@1129Irving i don't know why iam responding to a troll but i can't help it.
1. how is asking for evidence intellectually dishonest? making baseless assumptions is.
2.Because, if someone was like "iam going to kill you" and you are like "why" "because the monster told me" you would(should) be like "what, how do you know it is real" they are attacking the base.
3.Because they are more knowledgable of chirtianity.
@sailornaruto39 The problem with your answer is AE doesn't even discuss the topics you claim they talk about. How many videos are there where they discuss religion being taught in schools? They spend so much time calling Christians deluded or bring out this stupid spaghetti monster or stupid moo-hammed cow. Why? To try to show religious people are foolish. It appears their one goal is to ridicule ones beliefs. And, what is the other issues they discuss besides name-calling?
@YesYou123333 like i said it isn't the only issue. And if they ridcule it so what? is it not ridculous? people have givn some stupid reasons for believing.
Yeah, he wasn't convinced...they didn't handle him well!
I would have explained what atheism is, since the caller obviously didn't know. I would have explained that most atheists are ex-christians who have studied the bible to such a degree that we have found many serious problems with it and that's why we aren't Xians anymore!!! And calling the bible god evil is just one of those reasons. Why couldn't these hosts do that? And what I suggested above is not combative, just an effective response.
Some theists claim that god(s) exist. Those who make claims of truth are responsible for providing empirical evidence. If claims are not testable using observation, experience, or experiment, then that evidence is outside of reality. Anything outside of reality can only be believed. Belief allows someone to hold ANYTHING as true. Therefore, anyone who claims knowledge of their god(s) without empirical evidence, is a liar. Atheists do not make claims, they simply do not believe theistic claims.
I am surprised at the number of commentors on YouTube and other places who apparently think that a non-existent thing can leave evidence of its non existence. The nearest thing to evidence for the non-existence of gods is the lack of evidence that any gods exist.
@RadioFlyer308 Not all theists are this bad. Most of them just believe because they were raised to believe. Most don't even pay any attention to their religion. It's the ones that have paid attention to it and can still believe in it, that are this bad.
If the people that don't care about their religion would just take some time to look at it, a lot of them would be atheist.
@village1diot Do you mean just about every rapist, or just about every christian? because one I could believe, the other's just absurd. (was this sarcasm?)
@quezcatol Plenty of the priests, if you haven't heard. Not only do they ask for forgiveness, the pope GIVES it to them, AND moves them to ANOTHER church.
@LiFinalmente they try and get lesser time by acting in a civil way, I doubt a real christian really think he can rape and just ask God for forgivness, but then again im not a christian.
Why is this guy struggling to understand it? I don't really believe that. A-theism. Hence you discuss theism. Like a-vegetarianism would be a show critical of vegetarianism.
To believe is to have confidence that something EXISTS. You cannot "believe" that something doesn't exist. I wish Christians would at least ATTEMPT to get educated.
If you don't want to appear a total fool, try to stick to a single coherent argument and don't think that talking about several disparate points all at once, generously interspersed with logical fallacies, does anything but make you look like someone with ADD.
I feel offended. Even if you have ADD you can bring out coherent arguments if you concentrate really hard. It's not a problem with our intelligence you know.
I fucking hate it when people like that last caller try to define what we atheists believe or don't believe. They insist that we believe in the non-existence of a god (as opposed to lacking a belief in the existence of one), and can't separate the two concepts.
@SolomonKull I think Steven Elliot(producer) is probably the physicist. Jen Peeples is an aerospace engineer, so she might also have a good grasp of physics.
Who's the co-host? I've never seen her on the show before, or the archives.
By the way, I have no problem saying I believe there's no gods. A belief isn't a bad thing, especially when it's based on reason, evidence, and the proper application of both reason and evidence in an unbiased and secular manner. Besides, I find it easier to debate theists when I automatically say I have a belief that no gods exist. It takes away the semantics element as a theist's gambit.
while I would agree that I have no problem saying I believe there's no gods in a colloqiual sense (much the same way I believe there's no unicorns) a lot of people aren't comfortable saying that in any kind of absolute sense because it's so difficult to evidence (unless we're talking about specific gods with qualities like "benevolence")
It's much easier to argue from the null hypothesis rather than a contrapositive position... once you get past the semantics.
Is that a sequel to "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?
Seriously though, the last caller sounded familiar. Sort of like the "What is a Law!?" guy. Notice he asked them to answer, "What is faith?" a similar question.
@TomMSTie I almost named it that. I got as far as "The Good, Th..." and then I realized it was going to be difficult to justify any of them as being "the good".
@village1diot If you do a sequel to this, it could be "Liars, Dumbs and Monkeys," i.e. "Lawyers, Guns and Money." Or to be more faithful to the source, "Fistful of Dullards" followed by "For a Few Dullards More."
I did use your suggestion about the bible passage in my animation. I just squeezed it in yesterday. It's almost complete(about 7 of 10 minutes done)... animation is much harder than I thought, but I am getting there.
So...Not believeing in god makes you a person with faith.

You know why he doesn't understand what they're doing? Because he's a fucking moron.

@UnreasonableSanity Why did this get flagged? Obviously, this caller is beyond moronic.

@TomMSTie lol - I'll keep those in mind.
I did use your suggestion about the bible passage in my animation. I just squeezed it in yesterday. It's almost complete(about 7 of 10 minutes done)... animation is much harder than I thought, but I am getting there.
