@bigfellajohnnyboy There was an incident in the 1970s, when Michael Corby was fined for possession of a small amount of marijuana, with no conviction recorded. But could you please cite some sources (other than Duff's book) that prove your claim, that he has two convictions.

wow, this was really powerful....i was flicking thru the channels on my tv and i saw about a minute of this film and it really touched me, unfortunately it was the end of the movie, but im def gunna buy the dvd
This documentary has nothing to do with "pro-marijuana". This movie is about ignorance, and the intolerance of basic freedom. It's blatantly obvious the 'ganja' wasn't hers, yet the government in Bali is so corrupt, that they are planning on killing this poor girl. Don't get me wrong, i'm Pro-Marijuana, but that's not the topic of this movie at all.
@EyeJustSkateboard How do u know it wasn't hers? Some people r really good actors. I think the issue here is not that if it was hers or not but rather that she shouldn't be punished with death although I do understand that when you visit another country, it is necessary to respect that country's law. I am not saying that it was her, I am just asking how do you know it was not? I believe that nobody would be that stupid to carry that much weed in their bags! That's ridiculous, someone's in on it.
i think she's inocent, and its so sad to think that a inocent person is sentenced to 20 years, makes me wonder, what kind of world we live in? and even if i'm wrong and she's guilty, 20 years is too much time, and life sentence or dead sentence? come on!! people make that kind of stupid mistakes all the time,u just cant kill somebody for that!! the law and the people of indonesia makes me sick!
I agree... weed isn't THAT bad.. it's not like it is even heroin. I still think the death penalty is way too harsh for drug convictions but that is probably because I am mostly against it. It's like these countries who impose these strict penalties are just doing it to prove a point... that they don't want american to be better than them or something. I would never go to indonesia. Screw that.
@carmelina182 You know what makes me sick? People blaming Indonesia as a whole. It is the GOVERNMENT. The people of Indonesia don't have a say in reguards to the laws in their country. Not all of them are power hungry, corrupt animals.
I watched the documentary and I don't believe she's guilty. I agree why carry weed to Bali knowing the penalty cuz her brother-in-law is Balinese and it's sad she's sentenced to 20yrs and her dad has since passed away from his cancer and her locked up in that awful looking Prison. I think it's corrupt baggage handlers. c'mon , no cameras working? ppl coming and going and taking some weed and not coming back? it just don't add up to me...
I'd like to see her parents assemble a mercenary team to go to Bali, where she's being held, bust in the prison, then break her out. They could have a big sailboat waiting to then sail her to Darwin , Australia , but then I do not know how the Australian officials are, if that did happen, I hope they wouldn't send her back. Look at the Billy Hayes case, he escaped from a Turkish prison, went to Greece, then the U.S. embassy in Greece gave him a plane ticket to the Boston Airport
It's cases like these where the government of her home country should really step it up and do something to help her....governments need to show people that they care about doing things for individual people and not just the masses. She is NOT dispensable. NOBODY IS
Yes the girl is still in Bali and in jail. I read today that she is 'hanging by a thread'. Apparently an Australian psychiatrist spoke to her and said she is living in a fantasy world and suffering hallucinations. I for one, believe she is guilty (numerous reports and circumstantial evidence point to that) but I think she needs to come home. She obviously needs treatment and the best place for her sanity is in Australia. She just need to admit her guilt.
@thehourcup america has paid some countries to make drugs illegal 10lbs in america will get you 5-10 years, after that if you get caught with 1 single joint twice it's a mandatory minimum life sentence for a third strike in many states if clinton didn't support this kind of shit he would have changed it when he had the chance
@thehourcup She's English so Bill can't go. The Prince , soon to be king, should go. This story breaks my heart and I don't believe she did it. Even if she did this punishment is beyond the pale.. What the hell is wrong with these people. Indonesia has lost billions of dollars in tourism over this. Anyone who sees this will never go there. I actually always wanted to go until I saw this.
The country of Indonesia is obviously not civilised to even exist . Australia should do the world a favor and just invade and air bomb the shit out of the hell hole . Australia just take over Bali and civilize these barbarians already .

Is pot legal in Australia? Nope, sure isn't. Is smuggling pot into Australia in your suitcase legal? Nope, sure isn't. If the exact same circumstances occurred except in Australia instead of Indonesia would the result have been the same? Yep; sure would. In other words, she's guilty as hell and now gets to enjoy time in a third world shit-hole prison. You're a moron.
Anybody who knows a SINGLE thing about her case could not POSSIBLY conclude that she's guilty! You obviously know NOTHING about it! Did you know that the drugs found on her that day were worth $40,000 in Australia but only $5,000 in Indoesia. WHERE'S THE FINANCIAL MOTIVE for smuggling THERE?? Nobody is questioning the legality of what she was charged with, SHE DIDN"T DO IT and had NO trial!!! Do your research and then speak again, Your ignorance makes me sick, this is a human life!!
uhh your a moron...uhhh uhh uhhh, in the capital of australia canberra you are allowed several marijuana plants for perosnal use and if you google nimbin you will see how lax there laws are retard. Indo is backwards insode out. Have you ever tried mushrooms??? well they are sold like candy everywhere in bali and those things make weed look like a glass of milk, do your homeworlk you ignorant bastard.
Schapelle is Innocent. Let her go. Besides, the penalty is far too severe for the alleged crime. Has Indonesia considered they have the wrong person? Why has the judge had 500 "guilty" verdicts and no "not guilty" ones? Schapelle won't "reoffend" after all this, so just let her go.
for the people that doesn't know about this, i will tell you just once. either you are indonesian or not, if u bring any kind of drugs to indonesia, u can get a death penalty. in this case she's lucky coz she just get 20 years. BUT, if u're not a dealer or just using it u can get, up to 5 years. so just for supplier, for any nationality
Her professing her innocence is whining..? Shes sentenced to 20 yrs in a 3rd world country for a crime she never committed, the woman has the right to "whine" all she wants. Don't be a hater because she happens to be pretty.
Im watchin the socumentray as i write this comment and i honstly think that she was not lying i mean no drug history no crime history, no big finnacial problem, and beyond all of that she was traveling with her family. I mean c'mon i duno what else to say. but bless her siblings.
poor old Schappa - framed by her family to take the punishment, when her trashy family get millions from court trials, books and air-brushed near nude photos in mags... The Corby family is the trashiest in Oz...
People should put aside their beliefs of guilt or innocence and consider the trial. Evidence was contaminated, destroyed, evidence was not fingerprinted, DNA testing was refused by the police (why?), CCTV cameras were switched off in all of the airports, the judge boasted he had never acquitted anyone in all of his 500 cases. We are all at risk of being the next Schapelle. It's impossible to clear your name in a trial like that.
The same month that she is being trialed, a man that was involved in a club bombinb killing 202 was sentenced to 2 and a half years, she got 20 for 9 pounds of weed.
makes you want to go to an ass backward corrupt 3rd world country like this where judges can be paid off and the goverment overlooks obvious things like testing where the dope came from,i wont even go to mexico because of crap like this, too many tourists mysteriously die in mexico for my taste and the cops are crooked.
schapelle is a victim. extensive investigation which uncovered that the Chief of police in Australia already knew that the airports corncerned employed corrurt baggage handlers. The Australian government didnt want that getting out. This only confirms what we brits have known for years Australia is a third world, backward country thats why there all trying to get to the UK. After all there all just decendants of our convicts...........what did we expect to happen?
hello everyone. my personal experience in Indonesia? 1968- Djakata- their dope was very much more potent than any from Australia at that time. 1980- Bali- the dope was very weak and a rip-off. ppl go there 'cos it's a cheap holiday. but, the place is a dive. Unfortunately we live too close to them and using force, which i recommend, would start a war, and put Australia into a bad position with our allies, as well. S. Corby, and others - victims of politics. Answer - Legalize dope worldwide.
someone knows where I can download the documentary? if possible subtitled in Spanish? I work about it for my studies, I hope someone can help me;)! thanks!
i admit that sometimes these kinds of tv programs can be decieving...all im saying is that after watching this doc., my money is on the step-brother, or brother i dont remember, i mean look at him!!!-- if i were a betting man....wait a min, I am!
the lack of compassion and forgiveness is shameful. Even if she is guilty, THOUGH i believe shes innocent. ITS OUTRAGEOUS TO GIVE A SENTENCE OF 20 YEARS AND EVEN CONSIDER DEATH PENALTY OVER SOMETHING LIKE MARIJUANA.
my dad was corby's lawyer he reduce his sentenced by 5 years from 20 years to 15 years then he quite since he didnt get any support from the Australian government. How come he is not even told in the story. He didnt even know about this till i found out just now
But then on the next appeal, her sentence was reinstated back to 20 years!(who is your Father, Hotman Paris?) I am pleased to see this story has reached beyond our Australian shores.
i think, in light of the confusion and the lack of scrupulous interrogation of the "evidence" in question, she deserves to return to her home country
in texas, if that shit happened with mexico.... there would be NO way some semi-officiated mexican "official" could detain an American as an unwitting donkey - NO WAY - not in the light of these cirucmstances

u know what i think that law should be passed out here so all the druggies will be lynched for being a bunch of dumb sons of a bitches and remember kids weed makes u one more dumb son of bitch to add to the world OBAMA '08:)
Your a fucking idiot. Marijuana has been proven to not kill brains nor make you any dumber. I smoke weed everyday and i know for a fact I am more intelligent than you and make more money than you'll ever make. You should be lynched for knowing nothing on the subject and saying druggies are dumb yet you can't even talk right. Jackass.
Honestly i think that her dad and her brother put it in her bag the night befor the family woke up, thinking that they could sell it in Indonesia, and Schapelle didnt know untill it was too late, and that maybe the neighbor did have something to do with it, ohh and fi any one knows, whats up with that guy that shapelle mom let in to talk to her?? And didnt he get arrested for trying to smuggle 4.2 kilos?? let me know thks.
she sooo did it. COME ON..I like her and wanna believe it, but she did it. She herself did it cuz figured she would be less conspicuous than anyone else in the fam and could bat her eyelashes and talk her way out of it is all.
Why take a boogie board when her sis has a surfboard shop and it s been said they sell weed from the store. Plus the weed was the exact size and shape of the boogie board.
It all adds up, sorry guys but come the fuc*k on already.
shii... I wonder if she was indonesian would she had gotten 20 yrs? I think the ppl have a natural hatred towards whites. I didnt even like that indonesian lady that was 'supposely' representing her. She didnt seem to compasionate.
do you really think that 3 years after 9/11 that you could check in a body board bag that weighed more then twice the average and at least double the thickness without a 2nd look you are naive.
there has never been a case of anyone smuggling pot to bali from australia before. nor has there ever been any australian pot seized in bali before.
"the bag of marijuna was shaped exactly like the boogie board bag it was in and was shaped and had the same thickness as a boogie board"
thats what the indonesion custom officer said, yet when they pull the buds out of the bag its not sticking to each other and are round, not flat, if it was 10 pounds of pot compressed to that size, you would have to peel it apart and it would be stuck to the plastic.
Absolutely PRIMITIVE!! It's absurd to condemn her for something others have pubs for. Are you joking? Even IF she had done it. 20 years? Death? Freaks!! Primitive freaks that can't get a grip. I hear it's the most corrupt country in the world. Makes you realize why? They're PRIMITIVES stuck in hell.
I think I'll go my life without seeing Indonesia....fuck that.
i honestly have a feeling it was a family thing i mean if u saw the documentary, there was a point where the brother had the bag and she was like "OH THATS MY BAG" and took it from him. like what innocent person does that? and truu, but she had a neighbor who grew weed. how desperate was she for it?
u gatta remeber tho its not the idea of bringing in weed its all drugs so they have to treat it as such they dont see it as just weed they see it as some bitch bring shit they dont want into there country and for the guy below me meth is a 15- 25 year sentence at any level of dealing because of the nature of the drub so either ur lying or u buddy is
thats cold bro.i dont think she should die cause of havn weed.its grown out the grround,it aint made in a lab or nuthn.indonesia is a bitch.yea i think it was a set-up to smuggle mo drugs in cause no body is gonna hide 10 pounds of weed in sumone else bag and try to get iy back.she was there destraction.
I think they put 10pounds in he bag, and that person who planned it.. Called it in, and the person who planted 10pounds. Prob got away with 100 or more that day,,
When the police where all on her, other mules got away with a larger amountof weed.
That is crazy death penalty for weed, thats dumb...
I just saw the documentary again. There was a moment where she faked fainting on her lawyer. The judge asked her, "what sickness do you feel?" I think at THAT moment she should have come clean. The judge had somewhat of a warm look on his face like he was willing to talk about what REALLY happened. She should have said how sorry she was for doing such a thing. She should have also apologized for the FAKE witness, and also the guy who claimed the prosecuters tried to bribe her with money.
I watched this today and I feel sry for her but in the doc. before leaving for Bali she said she put her flippers in the bag and had opened it from the top and then in Bali when she opened it she said the zippers were on the side when she opened it which would show that someone had opened the bag before she had recieved it in Bali. Best of luck to her though
Do you people not realize how guilty this girl is? Do you really think somebody set her up? Thats hilarious. She's a liar, and the judge saw right through her. Oh yeah, her lawyer was gorgeous btw;)
it should have just been smoked by everyone in bali..because they all have sticks up their ass for actually having this against the law. .. DEATH PENALTY ...FOR WEED?!?!!? WHAT the FUCK ?!?!?? its a fucking medicine. dumb bitches
there's definitely not enough evidence on either side but it's slightly comforting that countries that are drug trafficking magnets are actually doing something about it.
watched this yesterday... familiar with the story. insanity is all i can say. all this over a natural herb. to think this woman and others have had their entire life ruined over insane laws. the judges are the criminals, fucking sick FUCKS!
I assume if the family was smuggling they would know the laws of thas country? Like is there limitation on amount of smuggling as if it where a 1 Oz.Or so many Lbs.Or is it you have a one seed or residue you get life or death in prison there? Still it has a screwed up system. I don't think she would do it if she knew she could dye over 10 lbs. for real.
I saw this documentary today and it is heartbreaking. The injustice that was done makes me want to puke. Stay strong girl and my prayers are with you and your family.
most people believe she is innocent and when i first watched this, i really thought she was. I guess its possible for someone to put that in her bag but COME ON. the bag of marijuna was shaped exactly like the boogie board bag it was in and was shaped and had the same thickness as a boogie board. seems like she was trying to trick the people at the airport. i dont know why but i still think she is innocent. her drug test came out negative and there were no fingerprints on the bag. plus 20 years?
Schapelle is innocent. The Australian media constantly attacks her family, that's why dumb Aussies believe she's guilty.
After the outpouring of support in the US, the Aussie media has attacked her family again, stating that her father is a drug dealer. ONLY ONE newspaper bothered to report that the police investigated the claim and CLEARED her father of any involvement with the drug trade! Sickening! Schapelle is suffering severe depression is hospital right now and the media does this to her!

the cannabis wasn't Indonesian, we love our leaf. and the evidence are "bud", it's got to be from somewhere outside Indonesia.
if there's bud in Indonesia, it's very rare and expensive.
I believe that corby must be free, if only brought cannabis.
What I'm concern are, cannabis ilegal in Indonesia. what a stupid goverment.
it should legal in every country in the world.
yes, I'm Indonesian. And proud of it, just like you all proud to be your countrymen. but I don't believe in our goverment.

The Balinese police planted the drugs in Schapelle's bag. Their numerous breaches of their own code of procedure, is evidence for this.
Look up "breaches of the Indonesian code"
The very first results of a Google search for just those words, brings up content relating to this case.
For the Balinese authorities, and for anyone who thinks Schapelle got a fair trial, this is a problem. . . .

OK I'M ALSO HAVING THIS DOCUMENTARY If you ask me
WHO IS HERE Guilty.
I would say
IT IS HER HALF BROTHER
WHY
HE IS IN PRISON BEFORE POSSESSION OF DRUGS
DURING THE DOCUMENTARY He smiles / SMILE IF THERE WAS REQUESTED TO DRUGS.
Something was NOT RIDE.
So I think Chappell IS INNOCENT

i think she's inocent, and its so sad to think that a inocent person is sentenced to 20 years, makes me wonder, what kind of world we live in? and even if i'm wrong and she's guilty, 20 years is too much time, and life sentence or dead sentence? come on!! people make that kind of stupid mistakes all the time,u just cant kill somebody for that!! the law and the people of indonesia makes me sick!
carmelina182 2 years ago
I agree... weed isn't THAT bad.. it's not like it is even heroin. I still think the death penalty is way too harsh for drug convictions but that is probably because I am mostly against it. It's like these countries who impose these strict penalties are just doing it to prove a point... that they don't want american to be better than them or something. I would never go to indonesia. Screw that.
cutelovelylisa 1 year ago

Blndrfist 2 years ago
Anybody who knows a SINGLE thing about her case could not POSSIBLY conclude that she's guilty! You obviously know NOTHING about it! Did you know that the drugs found on her that day were worth $40,000 in Australia but only $5,000 in Indoesia. WHERE'S THE FINANCIAL MOTIVE for smuggling THERE?? Nobody is questioning the legality of what she was charged with, SHE DIDN"T DO IT and had NO trial!!! Do your research and then speak again, Your ignorance makes me sick, this is a human life!!

It's impossible to clear your name in a trial like that.

do you really think that 3 years after 9/11 that you could check in a body board bag that weighed more then twice the average and at least double the thickness without a 2nd look you are naive.
there has never been a case of anyone smuggling pot to bali from australia before. nor has there ever been any australian pot seized in bali before.
911TRUTHINATOR 3 years ago 2
"the bag of marijuna was shaped exactly like the boogie board bag it was in and was shaped and had the same thickness as a boogie board"
thats what the indonesion custom officer said, yet when they pull the buds out of the bag its not sticking to each other and are round, not flat, if it was 10 pounds of pot compressed to that size, you would have to peel it apart and it would be stuck to the plastic.

Schapelle is innocent. The Australian media constantly attacks her family, that's why dumb Aussies believe she's guilty.
After the outpouring of support in the US, the Aussie media has attacked her family again, stating that her father is a drug dealer.
