Trust me, if this ended up being the "New Gigantor" series that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel in the mid 90s, PLENTY of young kids would be in front of the TV at a painfully early time in the morning to watch.
@prometheus126 What the fuck is wrong with you people? Humanity's inability to accept change is just outrageous. Everyone is alway like "original is better" or some other uneducated shit. Original Gigantor looked like fucking shit. It was a fatass tin-man controlled by a little kid. No matter what the occasion, this Tetsujin 28 Fx looks a helluva a lot cooler. I'd much rather be a wannabe Gundam than a fat tinman. At that, Fx doesn't look like a Gundam, who suck anyway compared to super robots.
@PhongChangster Heres the question of the day then: if you don't want a Fat tin-man then why woud you want a Tetsujin show? I'm a for change, just good changes that aren't mind-bogging stupid.
@prometheus126 I wouldn't want a Tetsujin show. In fact, I'm ashamed that the pioneer to the super robot genre just so happens to be the ugliest excuse for a mecha other than the Iron Giant. Super robots should be badass and intimidating, not fat and laughable. Question of the day: Why do all people say their up for a good change, but when that change comes along, they hate it? Answer of the day: They were never up to a change to begin with.
@PhongChangster 1.) Tetsujin's designs were a product of it's times. this was from the 60's mate be thankful he didn't have mouse ears. expecting a design from that time to be as outstanding as something like the Gurren Lagann is just foolish.
2.) don't I, as a Tetsujin 28 fan, have the right to be upset about a show where it's core fundamentals, ideas and themes are backhanded for something cliched, trite and pandering?
@prometheus126 If badass samurai armors can be designed in fuedal-Japan's era, then I think mankind should be able to design something cooler than a fat tin-man in the 1960's.
2.) I honestly think a backhanded cliche change is better than remaining a fat tin-man. What if Gurren Lagann stayed only as Lagann? I don't think Fx is cliche at all. They kept some of the design aspects of the original, but they edited it for the better. In the 60's Gigantor's original design was cliche.
@PhongChangster This argument is going no where but just for the fun of it.
1.) Samurai armor wasn't designed for a cartoon in the sixties. that's like saying "if badass knight armor was made in the medieval ages then why isn't Superman's costume more awesome?" Tets was designed as a vision of what the future would behold, back in the days when people thought there were still little green men on mars. Look at any pulp Sci-Fi magazine cover from back then and they ALL were garish.
@prometheus126 1.) I think they could have had a more clever design for invisioning the future during the sixties. Music back then was creative and great [ELO SON!!!], so can mecha designs. I could design better at the age of 4, that was before I saw my first mecha.
2.) I think the Transformers movies are mediocre. Don't go making assumptions. I like classics too, but Gigantor just is so horrible that I can't consider it a classic.
@PhongChangster be it you like Gigantors design or not, you can obviously see this is not Gigantor. The cybermen from the new doctor who is an upgrade design and looks both reminiscent of the original and modern at the same time, so did Kamen Rider the next look. check those two out, look at their predecessors look then look at this again. New gigantor was a great upgrade of the originals design, look at that as well. then look back and this and tell me this wasn't just a slap to the face.
@PhongChangster *bangs head against the wall* I SAID the Kamen Rider the Next updated look was modified but stayed true to the original, the same thing with the Cybermen in doctor who, the Klingons in Star Trek and even the later godzillas. New Gigantor looked modified but stayed true to the originals design. this one doesn't, at all, so the question comes up "why name this Gigantor?" do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?
@PhongChangster 2.) You obviously don't care much for Gigantor or it's design and I understand that, but I just don't see why you have to yell at someone who is a fan of Gigantor and his fat tin-man design when a show basically insults it. your the type of guy who yells at Transformer fans when they complain about the new movies.
@nightslash3535 Well this series is supposed to take place after the original, this show's main protagonist is the son of the original controler of the original Tetsujin.
Wait, so in FX, there's this awesome new version AND the version that came be known as Gigantor? Sweet!

That was really good. I like that Tetsujin 28-Gou doesn't look like Bender from Futurama, unlike his predesscor. ^_^;
