  • This lament is from Riverdance

  • These pipes are Irish

    The photos are of Scotland

It would seem Ireland has the nicer sounding pipes and Scotland has the nicer landscapes. Scotland & Ireland are very much alike. Both Celtic countries with a similar culture.

  • Is é seo an guth Dé.

  • G/Day From Australia, Could someone download the song " Holy Ground" by Steve Winwood, from the Album "Far From Home- "Traffic" from the mid ninties, I believe it is Davey Spillane playing Uilleann Pipes, absolutely beautiful, such a wonderful sound.

  • @lithgowflash lovely song, im livin in perth now miss ireland so much so this music helps me alot, been 4 yrs since ive been home

  • traurig aber schön

  • Nice picture of Eilean Donan at the start

  • to me the uilleann pipes sound a hell of a lot nicer than the bagpipes

  • I can't think of a sound more beautiful than uillean pipes.

  • why are the pics of scotland?

  • @MrFocaleile why was half of braveheart filmed in ireland??

  • I love to listen to music that speaks to your soul. This music you can actually feel and it does bring tears to your eyes. Thank you Davy Spillane. We love you.

  • The most beautiful pipes I ever heard were on Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn, track 2.

  • amazing

  • Wow Beautiful piping! I'm doing the pipes now for nearly 2 years. Ive a long long way to go. If anyone is thinking of giving it a shot, It is difficult, but not as hard as I had heard (once you get over the 6 month hump).

  • Very nice!

  • Was this tune on the sound track to Titanic? or is this off Riverdance? its just so familiar to me. Lovely anyways x

  • songs on the uilleann pipes tell their own story, it's amazing

  • beautifull i love Irish music its fantastic

  • Still speechless. Absolutely beautiful

  • So proud to be Irish and hope all love our music. it's our way of life. Please have smile on your face x

  • So Beautiful, so Haunting, sends shivers down my spine. Thank you for posting <3

  • Two people have no heart.

Davy is out of this world, and takes us there "thru" his music.

  • Magnificent! As jazzyneale said, he is just simply amazing.

  • That is the most beautiful music I have ever heard in my entire life. It speaks to me and stirs my blood. But why is it so stirring when it is not of my country? I have Irish blood but mixed with other stuff. Yet I feel the music like it is part of my home and heaven. Ireland is home yet I was not born there. Kind of strange. And yes, I have been there and it felt exactly like home. My own country (United States) does not feel like home.

  • I miss home!..

  • Such lovely images. But what has Davy Spillane to do with these? He's an uillean piper.

  • This is brilliant, superb, I will have this played at my funeral, awesome, thanks Davy.

  • I feel it deep in my soul

  • If this doesn't move you to tears, for one reason or another, then you must be emotionless.

  • i cant believe this guy played the pipes in my irish dance show.

what a privilege!! he is amazing (:

  • This music speaks of the beautiful soul and strength of all the Celtic people, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, who have struggled and overcome so much throughout their history. The English strove throughout history to suppress their freedoms and dominate them, but still their spirit is not broken and they endure.

  • Just another reason why i love my home Country. Simply beautiful music!

  • the most beutiful sond i have ever heard, And i am 70

  • I get goosebumps whenever I hear Uilleann pipes. Such a beautiful and unique sound.............also VERY hard to play!!!

  • Nice photo of that famous castle, Eilean Donan in The Highlands of Scotland. Featured in many a Film!

  • The one, who didn't like it is an asshole!

  • @Morihay What 1 could not feel positive about this? Yes , probably some spirit-deaf ass-hole. I feel sorry for someone who can only feel good dumping on those with talent, and with such true gifts. Tone-deaf? No: this person's soul cannot hear and cannot feel. Davey's gift has reached out and touched so many all over the world. Where his gift came from, I do not know. But I thank God for Davey, and what he gives to us. I appreciate your comment, and I agree in mind and heart.

  • Touched by the Harpies. Leprechauns own gold. Davy is Irelands own son. Speaking from his music to all our Celtic Hearts!!

He is the shamrock and the morning dew!!!

  • love Irish music so much

  • What a guy Davy is, gifted beyond words. I am Scottish, this tune is almost as good as a Scots one

  • @deedale100 as good, on par with, equal with, a Scots one. And why to compare like that anyway...

  • Davey Spillane is not only gifted he works magic by putting emotion back into a charred soul with his compositions

  • How could you think Enya had anything to do with this masterpiece? That broad does new age, not celtic music.

If you want a good celtic vocalist, go with Aoife Ni Fhearraigh, Chloe Agnew, the Chieftains, The Wolfe Tones or the Dubliners. Honourable mention to Paddy Reilly and Christy Moore.

  • hang on... weren't half those pictures from Scotland?

and by the way, this was composed by Bill Whelan...

    ...still amazing tho!

  • dito.

  • Davy Spillane Caoineadh Cu Chulainn Uilleann Pipes

  • one of the most moving pieces of music ive ever herd, moves me to tears every time i here it,thanks davy for this and many more

  • This sounds like the solo from Riverdance

  • @BlackRaven87 It is the same tune, called Caoineadh Cu Chulainn. Though an air It is sometimes called a polka because it's in roughly 2/4 timing but played with rubatto/ad lib variations.

Cuchulainn was an Irish legendary hero, but since his stories come from the north (the Ulster Cycle) and this tribe, the Scotti, founded the Dal Riada kingdom in what is now Argyll/Bute, it is not surprising that he also appears in Scottish folklore.
