I grew up in a small town and new most of the police officers there personally. I respected them and felt that they fully intended to protect us and had a sense of right and wrong. Their day to day power was limited.

Our police have ceased to function, our at least to function on our behalf. This must change. We are on the verge of becoming a fascist police state.

Again, your video is incorrect, the Active Duty military may only enforce laws on military installations, if a suspect leaves the installation, military police may pursue him. In the LA riots, National Guard were called out to support law enforcement, they are the military and they are still legally allowed to enforce laws as if they were a state police officer. Science fiction of the future always have militarized police in them. We are not talking about every major american city being placed under martial law, with sandbangs strategically placed for urban warfare. I don't think our cities should become war zones. I just think that militarizing the police force is just a natural evolution of the police force. We protect our military combatants fighting major wars, why not protect our police force in the war on crime?

I think militarized police forces are cool. Police are supposed to be intimidating. Future technologies will enable police to arrive at the scene quicker. If you catch a guy in the act you could just administer justice on site. I feel safer with police who have assault rifles, grenades, and RPGs. Police get shot all time. Militarizing the police force would help to protect them. SWAT has been more effective than traditional policing methods. It's a war on crime.

I am a UK born American citizen , I can see a parallel development of "people control" taking place in both countries , UK has 1 cctv camera per 14 people, It is now impossible to express an opinion without in UK without running the risk of prosecution .
