Too windy for Monfils. He doesn't hit the ball cleanly under normal conditions so it was understandable he was mishitting everything.

I love Monfils. His style is so brilliant and unconventional... I prefer 1000 times more to watch Monfils than other super-champion like Nadal or Djokovic ( Federer is my favourite ). I mean, if he improves the power of his strokes and his concentration he could win much more... But he should never lose his amazing style and skills.

@373axle its not like that at all. At the quarterfinals of the us open your there to compete not joke around and put on a show. Monfils is really annoying because he can't stay focused in most matches. He is playing for the crowd not to win.

Even though it's an important match, it feels refreshing to see someone who doesn't put on a constipated face because of the seriousness of the event, but actually shows that he enjoys being a tennis player. Not all tennis players are like that, so ease up on him. Think about it: is there anything inherently wrong with playing for the crowd? No matter your achievements, they don't follow you to your grave, so I don't blame him for enjoying life.
