The men's competition was very much affected by the absense of US, Japan, China, and West Germany , The Japanese would have probably won silver, and the US team bronze. Thomas would have won medals in the AA, Fx, pommel horse, high bar and parallel bars. Connor would have medaled on PB and Ron Galimore would have medalled on vault.

Yes, the US along with about 60 other countries boycotted these Olympics.

yeah well it wasn't really a shame, because all the countries with the good gymnasts showed up... US or no US, it doesn't make a difference
