actually i am a history major in college with emphasis on American history in the 19th century. i have read many books on John Brown specifically and heard many lectures praising his actions. it takes a true realist to expose him for what he was, a murderer. the founding fathers did do some of the things you say, but at least they built a nation instead of commiting treason.

A John Brown movie is necessary. It just goes to show how unwilling the country is to confront this monstrous past of kidnapping, forced labor, and collective psychosis later in the form of lunching. Voting for Obama is not a meaningful moral confrontation with this horrendous past.

@theyoungcommander yes buddy! since I majored in philosophy and have Malcolm 2 thank 4 that, what I usually do in these forums is debate on racism. I think you would enjoy some of the give and take. u can say that I am "undefeated" in that arena. Yes, 'brother" John Brown gave his life for blacks and did not do so because he just thought it was "wrong" to enslave them. He actually said that in conversation blacks were no less intelligent than whites so to enslave them was to enslave mankind.

Why do they keep using this insane looking picture of John Brown? Is this not fostering the common illusion that he was insane? John Brown was a real Christian. God was more important than the economic interest of the country. The real question is why Christian US did foster more people like him.

There is no illusion of Brown's insanity. Sure, he did a great thing, and was "guided by God." However, written accounts by his sons state that the moment Brown killed James Doyal, was the moment their father (John Brown) went insane. It is undenyable that he was, indeed, bat-shit-crazy.

Thee portrait of Brown was done to make him look crazed. The North did not want war. When the S. States seceded Lincoln made sure the fault of the war was on the South. The North had to do everything they could to make Abolitionists look like radicals. I see allot of parallels today.
