  • Very funny.

  • why do I not believe that Wes Anderson did this?

  • I wish I was Wes Anderson!

  • Hilarious how some people believe this is real.

    Great video though.

  • Guys, this is pretty obvious not actually by Wes Anderson.

  • I think he's just parodying John McCain, not supporting him

  • I've watched this before. Great mimicry of Wes's style.

  • I'm a cool little hipster girl and my heart is broken because wes anderson doesn't have the same righteous liberal political views as me.....

  • HAHAHAHAHA i love wes anderson he is the best

  • WAIT, WES ANDERSON IS REPUBLICAN?!?! This just doesn't make sense....

  • Wes would have made sure the mini-van and SUV at 0:15 were not in frame.

  • Haha. Great. Really looks/feels like a Wes movie. Whoever directed this, the Decemberists should hire for their next video. 'Cause I don't think they've made one yet that wasn't a total rip-off of Wes Anderson's style.

  • i can't tell if he's supporting him or not. PLEASE tell me Wes Anderson isn't a republican

  • @velvetinetable Actualy, this was a comedy website (I think) doing ads in the style of notable directors. This is them aping Anderson's style. I reckon its easily the best one.

Couldn't tell you which way Anderson votes.

  • @velvetinetable Thankfully this is just a spoof on Anderson's style. I don't know his political standpoint, I hope he's not a republican too.

  • What am I missing? I found some videos of Wes Anderson off of some other stuff I was checking out. I've literally never heard of the dude. Apparently, I've seen one of his movies and thought it sucked ass. It was the Life Aquatic. Did I see the wrong one? Because people on here are calling dude the greatest director ever and I really don't see it.

  • @bigrobdeezey The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite but Rushmore is good too. He has a very distinct style, so it's easy to parody.

  • @bigrobdeezey life aquatic is amazing youll have to give it another shot someday. id definately pick up royal tenenbaums, impossible to dislike

  • this is great. someone sure knows their Wes Anderson films :P It's exactly like his style. Slow motion scene with a hit chorus! awesome man!

  • Pretentious shit!

Wes Anderson's great, he really is. But really you guys, there are just so many other directors out there to also look into.

  • That was PURE Wes Anderson.

  • i think if this was real, mccain wouldve won

  • What is the name of this awesome song?

  • @tna0x0 "Life on Mars" by David Bowie.

  • @tna0x0 it's called "Life on Mars" by the super man David Bowie himself :)

  • maaan, that was so perfectly made :D

  • that fucking sucked

  • Couldnt have picked a better song..

  • i wish my life was fuckin directed by wes anderson. i wouldn't even have to try at all. plus i'd be surrounded by beautiful scenery and i'd have some dude singing david bowie in portugese following me around. that's what i call living

  • @RedDragoncombatzone I'm not sure you'd want that. I mean, at first it would seem kinda cool, but soon you'd fall in love. And then that woman would take everything from you, including your heart, soul and that obscure statue you'd like, and you'd be forced to swallow those emotions down. Then you'd finally ask "Why?" And deep down, you'd know it's because your life was being directed by a man named Wes Anderson.

  • @TheMagicalNobody haha thats a valid point but i still think it'd be worth it

  • @RedDragoncombatzone Then I wish you the best of luck, my friend.

  • @RedDragoncombatzone

Are you related to either Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold? Just curious.

  • like the columbine guys, no. why would you ask that?

  • @RedDragoncombatzone man... wise bloody words

  • wow landline really does suck

  • All of Wes Anderson's films are self-indulgent that's why they're awesome

  • @frackle

    Very interesting comment

I love all his movies and he does whatever he wants in them

    But...could you explain it better

  • isn't it sad to be lumped into a film style?

louis malle was right about being an anti-auteur, godard made the same movie 40 times.

  • @undesirablenumber1 why indulgent?

  • He took a much-loved kids' book and made it into the same film he always makes, albeit with "cuss" substituted in for swears. Some people think that's just lovely, but I think it's rotten- show me the 8 year old who laughed at gags about existentialism.

Something I always have to clarify here- I love the visuals and the voice casting, and I believe they would have made a wonderful film with any other writer/director. My beef is with the script.

  • @undesirablenumber1 i mean its his adaptation after all. i dont really like wes anderson's movies, i think he just prefers to do character profiles than solid stories, but its his interpretation.

  • I took 5 kids aged between 4 and 12 to see it and we all loved it. All animated films have lines that go way over kids heads.

  • @undesirablenumber1 nothing can beat a child's imagination for sure. but i am glad that it was a wes anderson film, he's got an interesting outllook and it could of turned out much worse than how it did. stopframe animation is rare now so you gotta give him a little credit...

  • Thumbs down are just fine- we're all entitled to our opinions though. I realise I'm in the minority here, so shall do a couple of replies...

@tregbo I do give the film credit for stopframe animation- it looked wonderful but I hated the script.

@DirtyHarry I'm fine with that, I just wish he hadn't called it Fantastic Mr. Fox

@cwegers1 ok then, I was wrong about it not being for kids, sorry. It felt to me like most of the film would go over kids' heads though.

  • Very funny, love the penguin that lady's holding.

  • Anderson's characters are intentionally UNreal in my opinion....their flaws are ballooned to show ow people are all broken in some form or another and how they manage exist in spite of it all..keep it simple assholes.

  • hahahaha this is hilarious

  • If only Wes Anderson was the writer and director of everything. Ex. Lost, written and directed by Wes Anderson. Now thats a fuckin twist.

  • that would be so weird!

"jack did you save the marshall?"

    "no, he's dead"

    "oh."

  • haha exactly

  • @LBTennis that just flew over meh head.

  • Everyone acts like Obama's so cool, but Wes Anderson is cooler, making John McCain cool by association. O_o

  • haha, nailed so many elements of his style

  • HAH i adore this.

  • haha! That's pretty good. The dialogue is great. I could imagine Max Fischer saying that. The Bowie song just made it a hundred times better though.

  • LOL WTF.

    Is that...! 0:40

I see some of those characters!

  • Reminds me a little more of Jared Hess than Wes Anderson... Bu the ending scene reminds me of wes anderson. The dialogue is totally napoleon though.

  • Dynamite or Bonaparte?

  • To be fair, Napoleon was a re-imagined Rushmore remake. If anything, Hess owes his style to Anderson, not the other way round.

  • I suppose. Napoleon was intentionally stupid and ridiculous. I feel that Anderson always kinda gave his characters a "real" feel, so you can sympathize.

  • @MrJimmyJr rushmore and napoleon dynamite are my two favorite movies, lol no wonder

  • @MrJimmyJr I don't know. They are 2 completely different movies not comparable in anyway.

  • @MrJimmyJr But to be fair, Most of Anderson´s Visual and Narrative style comes from the French New Wave.. especially from Godard!. See: ¨A woman is a woman¨

  • @MrJimmyJr Rushmore and Napolean Dynamite don't have a similar style though and other than both being loosely defined as coming of age comedy, they dont share any similarites in terms of the plot either. Napolean might owe it's plot or style to something that came before it but, it isn't Rushmore. How is it Rushmore re-imagined ? What plot elements does it share? (other than both movies being about a high schooler who dosen't really fit in very well).

  • @Woppatown Yeah, I totally thought the dialogue was a better fit in Napoleon, but the sequence after that was totally Wes Anderson.

  • it even has a bunch of books behind mccain.

"muah look at me i like wes anderson movies, i like to read, reading is for smart people muah muah muah, i like to put a bunch of books in all of my shots muah muah muah im wes anderson"

ugh, this video was pretty freakin good

  • you got me laughing

  • @mpiscopo14 Books are for people! Not smart people, dumb people, people.

  • proper slow motion, music, background haphazardness, and ending cut-away. Wes Anderson win

  • Just like Goodfellas

  • music from Life Aquatic, smoking girl and person reading book from tenenbaums, and the guys in the jumpsuits are from Bottle Rocket.

  • Anderson + Bowie = beastly

  • I love Wes Anderson

And I have that penguin :)

  • I could watch the "probably not" part SO many times. Great timing and a job well done.

  • I love how you turned John McCain into one of the poetically depressing characters of Wes. Just lovely. Kudos :D

  • Love it!

  • ah. it would be funnier somehow if wes anderson did do this

  • haha thats good stuff

  • Someone didn't get it.

  • its a joke

  • i want a fucking penguin

  • haha. that was pretty good

  • well done

  • sooo funny

  • oh no. that was too amazing.

  • song

  • Girl + Penguin = AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao that was amazing I love that moment when the bodygard rips the poster.

  • can someone explain what represent the dude reading and the girl with the "obama" sign ... i understand that the girl smoking is a representation of MARGOT TENENBAUM and the two running dudes are from bottle rocket...

  • i loved it

  • LOL that was brilliant!

  • What sort of camera did you use shooting this.

  • Comment removed

  • You guys love this so much because you love Wes Anderson, that's why its (not) so strangely beautiful. It's a good job, though it should be called The Life Aquatic John Mccain ad.

  • acctually the dajarling limited had more slow walking scenes so it should be called the Mccain Limited add

  • ya but at the end of life aquatic it plays a david bowe song like in this.

  • i cant stop watching this video

  • Strangely beautiful...

  • Fucking Brilliant!

Guys running by in yellow track suits make it a true Wes Anderson piece.

  • wtf

  • @dukattack It was a spin off from a scene in the Darjeeling Limited.

  • I thought this really WAS directed by Wes Anderson!!!!

  • haha thats brilliant!

  • Jeez. Theres something so oddly perfect about this.

  • I know what you mean. Seriously!, Everything from the David Bowie song to the guy fiddling with a telescope.

  • wow

    this is great.

  • I love it, love it, love it!!

  • awesome.

  • perfect.
