He took a much-loved kids' book and made it into the same film he always makes, albeit with "cuss" substituted in for swears. Some people think that's just lovely, but I think it's rotten- show me the 8 year old who laughed at gags about existentialism.

Something I always have to clarify here- I love the visuals and the voice casting, and I believe they would have made a wonderful film with any other writer/director. My beef is with the script.

Napolean might owe it's plot or style to something that came before it but, it isn't Rushmore. How is it Rushmore re-imagined ? What plot elements does it share? (other than both movies being about a high schooler who dosen't really fit in very well).
