  • واو..^.^...روعة.....

  • One of my favorites

  • This anime was good pretty much all the way through. Only the ending was kinda shitty. Still overall a good anime.

  • Love the anime and I love its music as well...hehe Thanks for posting. Was trying to find this song for the longest time. :)

  • So good.

I typed in "Best Anime's on netflix" and a forum came up, with a few of them saying this one was it.

While I can't say it was my favorite, it definitely has a special place in my heart. Death Note as well... So Good. I don't have a favorite anime.

This song is so deep, meaningful, and impacting. Someone must truly know sorrow and despair to write a piece such as this. Ah. Music. I can hear it in his accent "Albair" (Don't ruin the moment with "correct spelling". I'm aware.

  • I loved the epic yet classical feel this series had.

And why is it only animes like Cowboy Bebop that have their soundtracks praised?

  • I am so happy I watched Gankutsuou, watch monster anime if someone is looking for similar deep experience

  • Welll........this is my favorite ost from Gankutsuou...it's like his heart...he start slowly, with love, compasion, and others...but then...then, he know the pain and he want to show others that he can be like them: cruel and dark...it's a beautiful song, but sad, for me, because this aniem show us the reallity...this anime show ud that the like can make you....a doll, a cruel one...

  • Most underrated anime.. even I thought it sucked at first but after giving it a chance i finished the series in 2 days lol

  • @Shinn18 Woah. Didn't take you long then lol

  • Every time I listen to this song I remeber all of the moments that made me sob like there was no tomorrow

Gankutsuou was definately an amazing anime

  • I feel my world crumbling down beneath my feet.

  • HI all! can someone suggest another animes that are this good? most of the good animes that i know they are old, from year 2000, i dont know so many good animes! except like naruto DBZ etc but they are nothing compared to this master piece!

  • @jackfatal2 Try some other shows in the seinen genre, like Monster, Baccano, or if you want movies too, then Ghost in the Shell and Jin-Roh are awesome as well.

  • @thebirthdaybomb i saw all the animes you mentioned except Baccano, which i will start watching after i finish Monster!

any other animes come in mind? i like fist of the north star, akira, ninja scroll, showdow skill, lady oscar, death note, vampire d bloodless etc.

  • @jackfatal2 Hmm, have you seen any of Mushishi, Toward the Terra, Trapeze, Black Lagoon or Birdy the Mighty Decode? I'm pretty stingy normally with what I'd recommend, but those are all grade A shows.

  • @thebirthdaybomb i havent seen any of these, however mushishi got my interest from before, and black lagoon i saw 2 episodes and it wasnt something special, at least for the first 2 episodes.

i will say what i generally like, i like death note, naruto :), fist of the north star, berserk, ninja scroll, akira, ghost in the shell, vampire D bloodless, Paprika, cow boy bebob, golgo 13, escaflowne, valley of the wind, wolf's rain, detinator orgun, helling. eyc

  • saca uno de mis pensamientos mas profundos.

joer me encanta el caos y la desesperacion que esta melodia expresa.

es una sensacion insana tan sublime.......

  • I love this series so so much. <3 I'm really new to anime, and have only seen a total of 3 in all, but I already know that this will always be one of my favorites. The story is absolutely magnificient; made me want to cry numerous times. And this song is so familiar and eerie, makes me shiver...

  • @NancyDrewgal111IF you like this anime, watch Lady Oscar, it even based on a real story and events from what i know. and watch berserk, its different style but good anime. there are more good animes but i cant recall now. if you watch Lady Oscar and Berserk and u like them then you would like what others i liked.

  • epic masterpiece

  • Une musique d'une rare intensité ...

  • Breathtaking...

  • The song sends chills down my spine, just like how the cold hearted Count does

  • Vengeance is like a hunger. Subjected to the perpetual starvation of love experienced after loss, vengeance takes love's place and compels us to consume those who have wronged us. But no amount of consumption will ever fill the stomach, and the only end-game is to let vengeance consume yourself whole.

  • @Aixrotciv never have truer words been spoken.

  • can u upload the whole album please`? desu

  • I. love. this. track. :DDD

  • Bide your time and hold out hope.

  • The hour of my vengeance has come!

  • the soundtrack of revenge...

  • This series was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, just hearing this song makes me cry as it was always played at the most gut renching parts, I urge everyone to go buy the box set, it cost me $100 australia dollars and it was the best money I've ever spent <3

  • awesome anime, impressive that this anime has has been more true to the story of The Count of Monte Cristo than any other adaptation I've seen yet

  • meraviglioso

  • This song is like, 'Oh look, the plot is rearing it's ugly head again.' :)

  • i love this song it make me feel good inside

  • Awesome Anime, it suprised me how close it was to the actual storyline of The Count of Monte Cristo despite it being a sci fi take on it.

  • @giojanjalia

Apparently Mahiro Maeda wanted to make an adaptation of "The Stars My Destination," which is a science fiction take on "The Count of Monte Cristo," but he couldn't get the rights to it. So, he adapted the original book and added his own science fiction elements. I also loved the mix of 19th century-style aristocracy and science fiction.

  • Now I feel like rewatching it...

  • This reminds me of a song from Assassin's Creed II. I love it!

  • this anime is so underrated is probably my favourite after death note

  • @kamo124 oh yes this is the only anime to rival death note in the genre of suspense/thriller!

  • from 0:40 starts my favorate part

  • so tragic... so epic.. ù__ù

  • how? its from the show

  • @TheDarkWall that's not an original picture from the show... looks like the cover of a doujinshi to me... the title in the side kinda gives it away.

  • @Midare13 meh, good enough! XD it's the song that we're all here for

  • @TheDarkWall

I realize this is from a while ago, but I figure I should answer it anyway. xD VPmena probably thinks its a funny picture because you chose the cover of a fan-made hentai comic cover.

  • @MoonFox23 Oh, LAWL! That's hilarious XD

  • @TheDarkWall ...It's from a countXAlbert doujin, actually.

  • @VPMena O_O how is it funny? wouldn't someone normally put a pic of the anime if came from?

  • I listen to this over and over. That scene was so sad, really gives the ol' heartstrings a good tug.

  • Sad. This would have to be the most unappreciated anime in the world... If only animes like naruto and one piece weren't so popular, then maybe the common anime viewer would open their eyes to the real stories! If you agree, say yae! :D

(best book in the world. I would suggest reading it, though it's not as fantastical as this loose interpretation ;D

  • @simmer9431 in fact yes, the show is surprisingly good, there are very few anime like this and yet it seems to get very little attention, even from hardcore anime fans.

  • @simmer9431 I beg to differ. The book has so much more depth, so much more to offer than the anime.

  • @Lulzman69 This is simmer from a new account... well, I agree that the book has WAY more depth. In fact, it's my second most favorite book mainly because of its depth, but the anime is more fantastical, as in it has a lot of fantasy that's not unbearable. Sorry, didn't mean to imply something else :)

  • @blythemadeline Nah, no problem. My fault for misunderstanding, anyway. :p

  • This kinda reminds me of the Black Omen from Chrono Trigger. But that's just me...

  • @Gragthor yah ir reminds me of it as well

  • That's right. The one who sent the letter that led the arrest was me! If I hadn't done that, he would've been the captain of an interplanetary shipping route and I would have been an underling at the Marseille docks... I ... I had no other choice. - I don't want to live the life of a loser anymore! I don't want to rema...in in his shadow anymore!! - Fernand

  • ...this song always makes me want to cry. ;-;

  • watching the anime now...its awsome!

  • This is a good music

  • If it was cheaper, I would so buy this OST. Probably the best anime I've seen so far.

  • I love this music

  • This is a superb song. However, I have a question, related to the ost. I have the ost, but I couldn't find a song from the anime. If anybody here knows, the moment when Albert introduces Fernand and Mercedes to Monte Cristo. I mean, the exact moment when the couple descends the stars. There is a CERTAIN tune playing, but I can't find it anywhere.

  • @Pheonille : It's probably one of the classical pieces used throughout the series. There is a different album that has those on it.

  • Where can I download this? This has to be the best OST music I've ever listened to...

  • wow this is freaken good

  • Imádom!!!

  • gankutsuou is the best animation I've seen... and has a goo classical compilation... and this is the only song I currently like from the OST :D

  • I'm agree with you ^^ . This song it's my fav from the ost . It reminds me that fight between The count and franz. Poor franz.. :( .

  • It was a touching moment ;) .

  • Should make a music video with this from the last movie or the show itself.

  • I never get tired of listening to this music

  • funny ^.=.^ this song's about me?

  • what does kaisho mean anyways?

  • @TheDarkWall The kanji on the official OST is 海嘯, or 'tsunami'. 'Kaishou' can mean something like "a landslide victory" or "an easy win", so I suppose it's a metaphor of sorts.

Then again, my Japanese is rusty; that's just my conjecture ^^

  • @TheDarkWall from the context of this series, the word "kaisho" most likely means "meeting place."

  • How can I get the ost without paying 69$.

Maybe 14$ like any other ost.

  • From what I know you can either pirate it or pay the fee.

  • @TheDarkWall You can always try eBay, though.

  • thanks so much for posting this!!!

  • thank you for the song i love gankutsuou ost

  • Hmmm... I'm wondering which song is played when the Count and Hayde are walking inside the opera house, when Hayde is looking quite radiant. Got it on your files mate? I just need to know the name of the song.

  • most likely, if you could message me a link and the time the song is played I'd be more than happy to check.

  • This Anime is so fucking awesome.

  • ya, and it just gets sooooo much better as time goes on.

  • Its like wine, its just keeps getting better and better.

  • this song is pure awesome its slow but stil moveing its very beautiful

  • awsomeness

  • Awesome music! Could you please upload other tracks from Gankutsuou OST? Thanks!

BTW, what is that inscription in the image you used for the "video"?

  • sure thing, any particular tracks you had in mind?

  • oh, and also I dont really even know, I just liked the picture.

  • Oh, I really don't know, just something you like. ;) You are very kind, thank you!

  • Beautiful and haunting. This song is amazing.

  • This is good music, ya feel me man?
