Some people think this is too gritty. What she is doing, is inspiring people to play violin or learn about it. I hated classical music, until I heard her play the electric violin. This made me appreciate it, in all forms, rock, or classical.

I reckon the danger is that people will not be exposed to the beauty of the classical instruments--somehow, their electric forms always seem colder, more lifeless, but maybe that's just me.

I've seen Emilie play both the classical and electric violin, and while there is no question she's greatly skilled at both, there is no doubt in my mind her classical is richer.

Simply stunning!!! Emilie is such a beautiful (in many ways) and unique person. I think she's soo cool that she would make a great video game character :) It could be a dark, horror game about victorian asylums. Something like Silent Hill. She would be one of the characters and also (obviously) compose music for that game. It couldn't become anything else than EPIC I tell ya! I hope someone shares my enthusiasm 'bout that hehe

@hhyyidlyg Empezando no soy ningún gótico y aprecio bastante la mayoría de música trabajada, soy un violinista clásico, y tambien sé la dificultad de dar un espéctaculo en un área distinta ejemplo en rock o celta ... sin embargo ésta interpretación no representa ningún estilo moderno de música sino notas aleatorios colocadas en un intento de solo de caracter superficial para que personas por la imagen que ella proyecta con su aspecto gótico, queden asombrados...

Trust me, you have to be at one of her live shows to truly appreciate how good it sounds instead of scamming through recorded live shows on youtube. Recordings, not even professionally done, don't give you the true sound of instruments. Proffesional liverecordings to sound great though, thats what makes the difference between an proffesional recording and an amateur for me =D e.g, Dissection Live DvD is awesome, The Tokyo Showdown by In Flames is still awesome, even though the sound could be alot better. I agree wholeheartedly on the youtube part though, mobilephone recordings on youtube /= good sound quality, unfortunately =p

Oh no, another smartass coming to tell us that Emilie is not all that good. Whatever sweety. Go see her live, listen to 'Manic Depression'/'Syrigne', go play the violin yourself, and THEN judge. If you still have the same opinion by then, it's obvious; you don't know SHIT of music. Emilie did finish some of the highest music schools with this. I've played the violin from age 4 til 12 and I wasn't even CLOSE to playing like her. And YES, I was good.

No offence, I think she's great, but the slow parts on her solos (that I've heard so far) sound... well, terrible, They get excellent as soon as she gains some speed though... wasn't really worth watching untill ~1:40 for me ;p at 2:05 though, sounds like someone strangling a cat when she hits her lowest notes =p Im still very impressed by her, played violin myself for 5 years, and never really got close to being able to play like this.
