mtdew123456789 DON,T GO MESSING WITH MOCONNORCLAN I BEAT UP MANY PEOPLE AND YOUR (MAYBE) GOING TO BE NEXT! PLUS ADT WAS THE ONE WHO STARTED FREE SYSTEMS AND THEY STILL HAVE IT! APX IS POOTHEY HAD A SCAM!!!! YEAH I SAID POO
@mattarmani yeah ADT is good but they charge way too much. I use Watchlight security for monitoring @$10/month. I paid a friend to hardwire my house when at the framing stage. I got a kick butt Ademco Vista 40 with expander module with 64 channels and program it myself. When a zone faults, I can see not only which room but which window in which room. Each window/door/etc has its own zone and nothing daisy chained and no little batteries to replace. It's like Ft Knox here and it never falses.
What my intruders would hear from inside is the echo from the Ademco outdoor 702 sirens as they blasts 60 watts of yelping siren sound throughout my neighborhood.
Sounds like a fleet of police cars from inside the house.
What's the deal has a good point. Might be a good idea to keep a portable panic button near the door.
eh yes I do becase 1. I installed my neighbors system, my grandmothers and also installed security cameras in our own house all were wired systems and not wireless so I think I do know alot about security systems! and I enjoy work and school and also your probaably some typical fat american that depends on one of them electronic carts you see in target or walmart to get from your sofa to the refrigerator and back to your sofa :L Enjoy your fat cakes Large Marge
@Magnet108 Duh, yes a panic button not a maintenance signal. Dude, I have worked for a major security company for 10 years so please don't try to educate me on something I already know.
We don't even need to test our Fleenor Security System. We set it off all the time. It's soo loud all the neighbors can hear it. We pay around 30-40 dollars a month. It's reallly good. They call after 10-20 seconds
The system uses speakers, it has a buit in siren driver. The thing above the key pad is a 30 watt ELK echo speaker. I have 2 (1 up and 1 down stairs)off the panel. Plus 6 self amplifed speakers (1 in each bed and 2 outside).I also have a 30 watt siren outside.
The neighbors that come out of their house thee blocks away and try and talk to the operator think its loud.
That system has some speech output, can a totally blind person set up and use the system without any sighted help, or are only a few system prompts and messages announced?
we have, we replaced the whole circuit board, and also, added three more sirens with different tones. they're all ADEMCO sirens. also, the Federal buzzer we have is a 450D, it's still up, but it is starting to flicker on and off. time to put up a Simplex 4050!
I am almost positive that this was back when APX sold their acounts to SAI, does your sign have SAI written as the monitoring station, Now that APX has taken over their own monitoring they are much faster then that!!! 2 way voice is awesome though
The two way voice is not widely used in the UK. That over here is known as Audio Verification. The ARC that i work at we have a lot of alarms set up to double confirmed. Panic signals dont have to be verified for a police response As long as the system has a valid URN police response will be immediate
48 seconds from the time the door was opened until the monitoring station responded. I believe the best record I've had with Brinks was 14 seconds from the time a sensor was tripped and the phone began ringing. I didn't recognize the name of the monitoring company in your clip, it must be a local one.
If you're referring to the system in this video, it seems pretty obvious that it dialed pretty quickly after the alarm. If you're talking about Brink's systems, you're wrong. By default they are set to 20 seconds, not 15 minutes. Personally I had the delay on our system disabled so it dials instantly -- sadly brinks has problems with "defeating" the alarm if the intruder knows how and does it before the system can send out the signal.
No, the panel should start dialing INSTANTLY. Studies show burglars can be in and out of your house in 5 mins. My system starts dialing the second the panel goes into alarm, and the CS calls us in about 30 seconds.
No they don't come immediatly. If the security company calls and you answer, they ask if you need the police. If they call and nobody picks up, they send the police immediatly.
Shouldn't you have notified the monitoring station you were performing a test? Doesn't the alarm dial out automatically to the police? At the bank I used to work for we did weekly system tests and had to put our system in test mode first and notify the monitoring center that our alarms would be "offline" during this time.
my sys is a Moose Z1100(w/ Z1100R keypad upstairs, lcd keypad downstairs.) but the siren short circuited, cuz we had the burglar alarm and the fire alarm go off at the same time, so it made a loud sound like a car horn(porsche maybe) and i opened the door to my room, and there was the indoor siren smoking on the carpet. now we have a Federal buzzer in its place. a lot less scary now.
A lot of those features that are standard on Apex systems are available on Ademco equipment when special equipment is added (phone modules and voice keypads, etc) but it gets pretty pricy. having a built-in siren driver that audibly announces the alarm zone is pretty cool. in aftermarket, the best you can do is a voice siren driver that announces a general burglary or a general fire message.
Apex has always been Honeywell's top-of-the-line name, while Ademco has been pretty much standard.
the central station is the monitor center who responds to alarm calls and then calls your home to confirm the problem. i have a time warner security system and it has only one siren and that thing is so loud when it goes off.
You should always call the central monitoring station prior to testing. As a security specialist please don't send test signals deliberately. That way your test is least priority incase other real signals come through. Also, monitoring stations can charge you a false alarm fines. You may have several free ones, but if you have a consistent pattern of false alarms, you can get a fine.
ADT systems are mostly Ademco, with their logos. although I've seen everything from Moose to Radionics with ADT logos on them. I've acquired used "safewatch" systems (one being a vista 20SE) and re-installed them for other people as local systems.
Oh, and regardless of what APX told you... if you choose to cancel the service, you WILL have to pay the remaining balance of the 3-year contract. (over $1000) Ask them if you don't believe me.
The system is an Ademco Apex Destiny 6100. I own and installed the system myself. Its monitored by american two way who I pay month to month. I don't have a long term contract. Thanks for the advice.
You have no idea how many people don't realize what they sign. Some people actually think the system is free cuz they are told so for having the company's sign on their lawn. Good for you for being smart about it.
Yea those are the same people that think they are protectin their families with a three zone system from ADT becuse the commercial shows a baby sleeping with blue 1's and 0's running through the walls.
Or the Brinks commercials of a home invader kicking in the front door and the alarm goes off immediately (when I can't tell you how many people the "no delay" is so over their heads!)
thats only if you arm it tho... if you set it as stay then it will automatically go into alarmif its set as a an entry delay. ao in the commercials they have it were its set to stay mode.. but i dont know ifthey did or not
Yeah, i agree, however, the APX "advertising representatives" are required to tell them everything over the contract, and by signing the agreement you agree to pay the monthly monitoring. also, a couple of days into the agreement if you decide you dont want it you can cancel. it is a federal law, requiring a Right of Recision. which allows anyone who signed a contract three days to back out of the agreement. so it is not like they are screwing anyone.
If you summon the police from the control panel (Duress code), even though you tell the operator that everything is fine, the police will still come. You are doing the right thing by arming and opening a door, but don't set off the alarm from the control panel because that is like calling the police. The operator will think that you were told to cancel the order by a burglar.
Yea you can only cancel a burglar alarm. Can't cancel a duress, panic, hold up, fire, or tamper. They are just supposed to listen in on a duress and tell the police what the hear. I called and put the system on test for the fire test video. Most central stations will let you put special notes on you account to let you customize how they react to specific alarms.
