  • Is the whole show an African concert? Or does it have characters and choreo and a storyline...?

  • i went there and tried to say it and i kept messin up

  • I saw this tonight, and it's a very good show imo, even though lyrics were modified to enable European and American audiences to understand it more. Of course I like tracks on Fela's albums more than the modified pieces in the musical, but it is still a great show that thoroughly entertained me.

  • I am so looking forward to Fela coming back to broadway.Fela said "Original and artificial e dey" not artificiality the writer made that one up. Great performance anyway.

  • @sabinah1 I watched the Fela documentary and I heard him say from his own mouth exactly that. That is not to say he never said "Original and artifical e dey" it is to say that when speaking to white media he did say it the way it is in the performance.

  • Just experienced this in DC tonight and I was blown away! Easily one of the best productions I've ever experienced because it was just that...AN EXPERIENCE!!!!

  • NOBODY can dance like those shrine girls. The beauty and awesomeness is in the small twists and jerky turns that makes your head spin. This is American interpretation of 'African' dance where it seems like you're fighting somebody... I applaud the effort but as a Nigerian saying goes, If you're gonna eat a frog, make sure you eat one with eggs...

  • @nurache I just had to ask this....What does, "If you'r going to eat a frog, make sure you eat one with eggs." mean? No disrespect, just curious.

  • i dont think as nigerians we should really complain if the americans want to put up a tribute musical and expose those americans who dont know anything about us to actually go and expose themselves to the original recordings there is no harm in that.. we know who fela was and what he represented for our country and what he represented for all africans thats enough for me, so a broadway musical can only touch on the surface of that not even try to explain it all. just enjoy the show.

  • the coregrapher needs to go to nigeria himself and c how we dance

  • Thanks for bringing this story to the world stage. Great show.

  • my favorite Broadway show. ill watch it over and over again

  • @edouard2me pls check on the original here on yt to see where it actually comes from .. the original is always the best.

  • I love it...! Wow.....I also loved the music

  • Just saw this show, and it's wonderful. It wasn't Fela himself, but it wasn't a zombie either. And they don't pretend the corruption and stealing has stopped, which reminds me how long crimes have been committed on Nigeria and Nigerians. Thanks to all involved with the show!

  • DAMN!

  • awesomeness!!! i love the music omg i looked up the originals. fela was a great musician!

  • Original and artificial e dey. means We have Original and Artificial. So says Fela

  • ``music is the weapon`` - fela kuti

  • Fela on Broadway...who knew? Much respect to Jada and Will for backing this. I love Yellow Fever...one of my favorite Fela songs.

  • i cant stand people who just complain and criticize. all you who have nothing but negative things to say, what have you done to honour fela? if he were alive he would have definitely been honoured. obviously no one can be the exact fela except fela himself but let's give credit where it's due. sahr ngajuah and the entire cast and crew and team have done an amazing thing here. i went and saw it a few weeks ago in london and i am going again - watched many musicals in my time and this is the best!

  • Truly a magical feat...a worthy tribute to a musical genius and champion of democracy and the Nigerian people...a superlative performance. Fela lives in our hearts and minds. The editors of xclusivenigeria pays tribute to Fela on Broadway.

  • oga rex lawson4eva, the production was put up by Americans who risked their own funds and put together a wondeful show. If you're unhappy about anything, please feel free to put something together, na wa for our people sef. Fela has been gone for 13 years, please point out one thing his own country people have done to honour him? Thankfully, Fela's kids love the show so the opinions of all those forever complaining don't matter.

  • "bemnaija", I've seen this show twice, if there's something about this show that flatters what Shrine patrons were used to, it's definitely the dancing. The dancing is far more stylish than anything we ever saw the real queens do.The dancers on this show are simply sensational. Some of the unnecessary comments by fellow Nigerians about this show amuse me.

  • Bravo!

  • what the hell kind of retarded accent is that man doing?? I mean i appreciate all this paying homage to the king but I mean if his own musician sons, all three of whom are very talented, could not successfully replicate his music or even his style, how much more a bunch of foreigners. ps is that a white man playing the sekere? wtf?!

  • Fantastic

  • Fela with Patty Labelle in a few weeks, can't wait! May his spirit & music live on & continue to inspire!

  • I am nigerian and appreciate all this , but afro beat dancing was more stylish and less energetic. I guess this dancing is for stage effect.

  • @bemnaija looool, i hear you...i dont see them dancing like this when i go to naij

  • @bemnaija the dancing has a lot more to do with what is expected rather than what is, if you want to see how afro beat dancers really did their stuff you watch the original recordings this is a tribute and stage musical not an authentic reproduction of the original nothing can ever repeat what fela did , just as nothing can ever reproduce the magic of micheal jackson ON STAGE .. same with fela there is no equal to him.

  • hey everyone please check out my music and comment/sub if you like what you hear. it would mean a lot :)

  • hahaha

  • The only thing that I don't like about it, is that the choreography is the stereotypical "African" dancing; my Dad is Nigerian, I grew up listening to Fela, and we never danced like that...Then again, I understand for the purposes of the musical why they did it.

  • gotta see it !

  • @Haunternet id agree even tho i havent seen it

  • easily best show on broadway

  • @Haunternet i agree totally

  • easily best show on broadway

  • I friggin love this show. Unlike anything I have seen, and I have seen...A LOT.
