I dislike Avery intensely. He has some offensive ability, but it's overshadowed by how immature and plain stupid he is. He'll piss the big guys off, but backs off when they go after him. The instigator rule kept him from being turned into a spam sandwich.

As for Ian White/Ilya, he got under Kovalchuk's skin, and Kovalchuk cheapshot him in the face, there's going to be payback, what with that and the refs stopping the fight prematurely because Ilya is a star player. They didn't protect Howe.

Did you notice the two Leafs players colliding in the neutral zone about 6 mins into the 2nd period. It looked like one Leaf cross checked the other thinking he was a Shark lol. Props to the Leafs for skating hard and earning some consistent time in the offensive zone. Yeah, the Sharks let up in the 2nd, but the Leafs were generally working hard the rest of the way. I was absolutely blown away by the skill set of the Sharks. Completely outclassed and out worked. SJ was relentless son the fore check, crisp passing and completely demonstrated that they were the superior team. And that's only after watching the 1st period.
