  • just saying there is nothing americanized about this song, the orchastra dosent make it american, the orchastra originaly came from spain there is nothing american about it. sorry about the spelling i fail alot.

  • The guy is still right to a certain extent. Most european metal bands released albums recently featuring heavy epic Hollywood-style symphonic arrangements. Rhapsody were among the first ones to do this and they themselves referred to it as "Hollywood/trailer-like epic symphonic metal". This makes it somewhat americanized.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but that guy is still telling the truth. The song might not sound "american", but the symphonic metal trend is indeed influenced by america.

  • @TheWickedEnergy Now, I know that metal is rare to hear in the USA, but trust me, it is same everywhere (except in Finland, obviously ^^) and LMFAO is very popular in Europe as well.. But you guys have a great trash metal scene (or at least had it), metal core and hc also.. And don't forget about Kamelot ;) Don't lose your hope..

  • @JelenaKotlajic

Holywood productions use orchestra because they had complexes that they're not epic enough ;). Blind Guardian don't need more epicness. Their composing skills are good enough that classic composers wouldn't be ashamed when listening to this :). Using orchestral instruments is more than tribute to classical masters than desperate need to be more epic :). Well at least in my personal opinion.

  • The instruments they used to play this song were forged by gods

  • KEEP THE 0 DISLIKES!!!

  • i thought it was funny when i made faces at Hansi and he screwed up the songs when i saw them in sydney. That is all.

  • No dislikes!

  • for me, blind guardian and this world are sacred.

  • @JelenaKotlajic I dont think this song is americanized. Many metal bands in the past have used orchestra. Also this song was originally composed for german RPG game called Sacred2. I like the epicness of this song and dont really think its as low as trailer music.

  • @Gilthoniel1337 Yeah, I know all that. Still think it's kitschy... They're overdoing it, you know.. Some of their past albums were epic too, without symphonic sounds.. And very beautiful, if I may add.. Simple but powerful.

  • @JelenaKotlajic Well, it is the genre of music. They genre is Power Metal, and Power Metal is very close to Symphonic Metal. I think that Drums, and Guitar are fantastic with say, Violin and Cello. It sounds nice, doesn't it? And, now BG has more money to throw around so they can produce more amazing and higher quality music.

  • @robbie4233334 Yes, but there is a limit to everything.. And adding symphonic orchestra doesn't make your music more quality.. In this case, for example, they used it to cover up bad riffs.. If you try to play this song by yourself, you'll see that..

  • @JelenaKotlajic If I tried to play this song it would be absolute shit because I don't play any instruments. I didn't find the riffs that bad. This song isn't focused on the riffs anyways. It focused on the vocals and the orchestra. This song is amazing, in my eyes at least, along with every single song in this album.

  • @JelenaKotlajic I agree to an extent. BG managed to add depth to their previous work like ANATO without relying on strings.

It's definitely a bit pompous at times, but I also feel orchestrations here are moodier than with many power metal bands who just use strings like a formula to make songs sound catchier. BG's have a more progressive feel. More Therion than Rhapsody.

While BG is late to the orchestra thing, at least they waited to do it right instead of using cheap keyboard arrangements.

  • @15V31F Yeah. I agree. I'm glad they never tried that cheap keyboard sound :) The worst thing is that I always liked that symphonic sound, but now it's everywhere - music, movies, games.. and it's just boring now.. I don't know.. I think the Guardians and I just went in different directions :/

  • @JelenaKotlajic American metal bands scream into their mikes and slam on the drums, play the same bloody note a thousand times on the guitar and call it a song. They don't use orchestras. They hardly even play their instruments.

  • @MrStaghare I didn't refer to American metal bands, brainiac.. I was talking about the movies.

  • @JelenaKotlajic Then how is specifically American? Are movies and their sound tracks now only made in America.

  • @MrStaghare Hollywood production, brother. Is Hollywood in Japan, maybe?

  • @JelenaKotlajic My point is, is that movies made around the world make use of orchestral soundtracks, not just ones made in America. Hell I'm not even American and I know this.

  • @MrStaghare Yes, there are numerous movies around the world that include orchestral music, but please, count the blockbusters and tell me where are they filmed, please? Could you do that and then tell me that Sweden is leading in producing epic blockbusting movies with lots of epicness and epic orchestral music? And that swedish movies are in fact, the most influential in this genre?

  • @JelenaKotlajic

I would just say that bands like Blind Guardian use that "orchestral music" like you say in the RIGHT WAY. That's it.

And seriously, where the fuck did you ever heard something like this? In a movie?

Seriously? You compare this masterpiece with that fake synth shit they do for rated +3yo movies?

Did somebody fuck your ears in the last 10 years or what? Nah seriously I dont mean to be rude but, I'm just asking... Really?

  • @Dinos86Senior Ok, I am 24 y.o. female from Serbia. I finished music school (a four-year, kind of elementary school for music) and I play flute. I am well educated when it comes to classical music, and until I entered high school, classical music was the only for me.. Baroque especially was my favorite hmm.. direction, if you could say that.. Romanticism also.. But nvm.. Yes, Wagner was quite epic too I guess, but here you go: watch?v=LANHWwEjOAU if you want to know what I'm talking about..

  • @Dinos86Senior That's not all.. if you want to hear more epic soundtracks, just say it, I'll get you some examples ;) Just don't talk about Blind Guardian doing this the right way if you have no idea how the others do it. watch?v=jSqw9Yn_RMQ this is also nice, AND Schwartzenegger related. Oh, and this one: watch?v=-bzWSJG93P8 how could I forget about this? Additionally, I warmly recommend you not to be rude when talking to someone you don't know.

  • @JelenaKotlajic Americanized? hmmm well concidering this band is german and europe had orchestral music before america did i think you might find that you are an idiot!

  • @Technobanana Omg, seems like I'm talking to retards -.- I was referring to the influence Blind Guardian had from Hollywood epic blockbuster movies, not orchestral music in general, because it is obvious that they didn't like Chopin or Wagner before this type of music began to be fashionable and related to epic contexts. And this fashion was created in the USA, trust me.

  • @JelenaKotlajic Blind Guardian has always loved orchestra, they have been working 8 years already on a orchestral project about LOTR, they even wanted to have it as the soundtrack for the LOTR trilogie. There is absolutely nothing americanized, this is pure Blind Guardian.

  • @JelenaKotlajic Their music is still amazing, if it isn't what you like then whatever, but don't say it isn't epic, or not good music, because it is some of the most amazing music out there, musicianship is great and they actually write great music.

  • @RadGH Well you may be right about that. But cant corrupted world in war still be sacred ? I think it can. Its only people doing those bad things, the world is still beautiful.

  • @Gilthoniel1337 Yeah, that is what I thought. The wars is maybe because he belives the world is sacred but falling in corruption and wants to change the way it is, as oppose to the other party who is "denying the truth".

  • @Gilthoniel1337 I agree with this. It is my impression of the song as well. The last few guardians, who fight to preserve the sanctity of their world that is, well, like they say, old wounded.

  • @RadGH

Why do you think there is a war being fought for the world? Because it's SAAACRED! ...Okay that was a stupid pun-ish-thing, but true!

  • @RadGH How fucked up is Earth? And yet I'll bet you that most people you talk to would agree that this planet is sacred to them.

Same concept. You don't fight for something you treasure when everything is bright and shiny. You fight for it when it's threatened.

  • @shadowstorm1989 Except the song portrays nothing about the good of the world, or anything sacred about it. That was my point.

  • @RadGH someone didn't pay attention in freshman english

  • @Kolidem Penis.

  • @RadGH don't tell me about your lunch

  • @RadGH

I agree with you there; Equestria IS sacred, it wouldn't stick out at all

  • zero bieberfans have seen this video XD

  • Hansi,you will live forever.

  • zero dislikes! thats nothing but right!:D

  • @BoatGirl96 and now i made it so it has 69 likes so now it is more awesome then it was before :P

  • I vigorously Fisted my self, Listening to this.

  • Awsome song. Nuff said.

  • This song will play at my funeral when my body is pushed out to the ocean and lit on fire with a fire arrow.

  • I didn't think it was possible for music to sound this god like.....

  • Thank you.

  • LINDO DEMAIS, PORRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • EARGASM!! I CAME like 5 times...

  • Blind Guardian + orchestral work together I approve

  • i dont think words can beign to describe the EPICOSITY! of this song

  • @jojeez it has to bee more than the game version ;)

  • This song is a fucking MASTERPIECE. We can really see how classical music heavily influenced metal from the very beginning. These guys just blow our mind by making it even more obvious in this genious song. LONG LIVE BLIND GUARDIAN !

  • this song almost made me cry, long live blind guardian

  • The New Age of Symphonic Power Metal. BEST album of 2010. If this piece would have been structured into a symphony form, the difference would not have been so big between this song and a classical masterpiece

  • @ciorapipedos1 It depends on the composer ... It would be more like 'filmic' music if it was to be 'translated'...

  • @ciorapipedos1 you should here the symphonic version on the edge of time deluxe album. it's sssoooooooooooooo good. if it where food i'd only eat that. :)
