When you're concentrated watching a match and when you're really there for the tennis rather than being there to act like a purist from the 19th century or like a child in a sex educ. class gigling all the way because it reminds you of sex, it really is not a big deal. This is an overrated issue and for some reason they're only picking on the women when men do it as well.

But it does help some people play better - it's kind of like in Karate, when you throw a forceful blow or kick, 'screaching' can help you, because it's part of the process in mind and body.

Very odd that she doesnt grunt during training but does during matches. I think the Nick Bolleteri Camp tell their players to grunt. Sooo many that come out from there do. She's def gona get alot of stick about her grunting. Lets hope she also gets alot of attention from ehr results. We need players like her in the tour doing well. :o)

After being on the tour for as long as the people she plays if they're intimidated by that then they're a bit retarded...

People play with their own styles, she's younger, so not fully developed as the rest of the people on tour. If she needs to let out a loud grunt to get the agression that she needs and the same power behind the ball, why does it matter?

Seriously, I understand that shrieking/grunting is considered important to "follow through" by some tennis trainers, and I'm in no position to disagree (that happens in many sports).

What I'm confused about, and maybe someone can explain, is why it carries on SO long. In other words, the shriek is still going almost to the point where the other player is hitting the ball back.

Is that common? Do other players have such a long grunt/shriek?

wow, idk about this one....umm, i hope she becomes alittle more humble and learns how to control herself. she seems like she is just, sorry for my lack of operative words,but a brat. I mean, look at how she shook hands with sveta at the net and how she shook the umpires hand, attitude much. At the same time, her fire and tenacity can be molded into something golden, like seles and like henin (as tracy pointed out).
