  • @93ajay93 no problem bro, i sent you a private msg.

  • kidha djmosaic, i was just wondering like im sanding my dhol but its taking ages! plus i dont know what paint stripper to use and how to use it. I think its because it has so much varnish. i know you posted this video in 2008 but i really need help lol.....

  • @93ajay93 Yo kidhan bro, if you got alota varnish on the dhol get paint stripper thas extra strength! put that on the shell and let it sit for like 10 minutes you will see lil bubbles start to form.. thas when you gotta start scraping that shit off.. once you have it off use a sander and sand it till the natural wood comes out.. just like in this vid you will see the actual color.

  • Now that looks alot more sexier :P I like this

  • @mrbhudiatv

    1. I only used one layer on the OUTSIDE ONLY.

    2. The whole point of Sanding your dhol is so you can take the VARNISH OFF!!

    3. When you have varnish on your shell the sound is sealed in.. when you sand it off the dhol sounds more openly..

    4. By Stain effect im guessing you're talkin about the WOOD COLOR?? thats a kachi pakki talli wood.. they usually have light and dark parts..

  • Hey nice video but i have a question

    * Why do some people have a big knot thingy going arround Base side? <same in this dhol too at 2:50 >

  • @samrindersahota Thats just Extra Rope bro. you just make a design out of it.

  • @djmosaic Thanks bro

  • @djmosaic Thanks Bro

  • hey alright ive got a dhol and its got a crack in it wat shall i do a.s.a.p

  • depends on how long the crack is.. you can get wood glue and try that. My dhol had a long crack so i used wood glue and construction staples.

  • depends on how long the crack is.. you can get wood glue and try that. My dhol had a long crack so i used wood glue and construction staples.

  • i was sanding my dhol and found a line. finished the job and it turned out to be a crack

and now it has expanded towards my bass side what shall i do.

  • Mine had a crack too i used wood glue and construction staples. crack hasn't moved since..

  • yh wen i was sanding ma dhol....i had a crack near my bass side...i used ur advice n put shit loads of wood glue on between da crack n on top n behind da crak lol n then i fired sum staples at it....been bout a year now...dat crak is as solid as ever n will prob never move again....

  • sweet dude glad it worked out!! mine is still solid..

  • hey bro i have a question...i have a dhol which is 12.1 on the treble side....if i was to sand down the wood and make it 12 exactly so i could place a 12 inch remo skin on there....wud it turn out good and sound decent? caus i dont wanna do sumin stupid to 1 of my dhols n then end up not using the dhol. so i ned sum advice plz....kool bro! (:

  • ur takin a risk by tryin to sand that much off, you can use a slightly bigger skin and put that on your dhol, it should sound fine.

  • thx 4 da advice...also wat r da specs on this dhol here bro?

  • haha also i agree wiv u bro...jas dhols are shitttttt....india dhols sound much louder n better

  • next time you go to india dont just look at the dhol and think that dhol is wkd

dont get a dhol wt is varnished

    varnish it your self

look for CRACKS AND LOOK FOR FILLERS e.g filler is an hoel in the dhol thay get sword dust and glue mix it then they gover the hole up with it

always look at the dhol make sure its strong and heavey not LIGHT and make sure it is 13" tilli base

then you got a perfect dhol

  • yh all dats quite tru bro..i got a dhol from india...i didnt chek the treble size and i cudnt place a remo onit insted of a gbc caus the size was like 12.4 lol

  • hey..lov the vid man..ur dhol came out class!! if u cud plz take a look at my vid..its me doing a jam...my dhol is a straight dhol with orange varnish/paint onit which i got frm india....and i wanted to remove all of that orange color.. if i did exactly what you did with all the correct tools...would my barrel maybe turn out in a nice brownish or light color like your dhol..? plz let me kno TC (:

  • That looks like an AMB shell (mango), it wont have much dark wood as you can see it has darker wood at edge of the shell, either way you should sand it off so that the shell can breathe. let me know if you have other questions

  • Just use Varnish Remover

    then put oil on it

and strings back on with blue rope

  • Good job mate. Just a little advice for you, should you you wish to heed it! "Always sand with the grain rather than across it". You'll get a much better finish. " OH AND CHAKDE".

  • yo if u got it from india then why dident u get it alredy sanded .Derrrrr.lol

  • my dad got it for me genius or I would've got a raw shell.

  • gonna sound kinda nooby, but

whats the reason of sandin it??

    give it a fresher look??

    improve sounds??

  • if you look at the before sanding pics, the dhol has a Stain on it, almost like paint, once you sand that off it allows the wood to breathe, dhol speaks more openly.

  • dude what shop did you get this dhol from in india? it looks so nice when you sanded it! i bet it sounds sik 2!!

  • btw when you finished sanding the dhol, did it turn into a kaali taali dhol? or sum ova design of dhols...

  • no it doesn't make it into a kaali talli, kaali taali wood is naturally dark, this dhol is just taali wood.

  • my cousin got my this dhol from some shop in Ludhiana, no idea where.. but yea it sounds very sharp and loud.

  • this is so cool; i also wanna go to india and get some instruments! nice songs in this vid, by the way.

  • hey there, i like wat uve done with the dhol looks much better. i was just wonderin...i have a dhol with really thick black paint on it. it took sum time but i hav removed most of it...i just wanted 2 no is ther an easy way of removing the paint from the lines that go around the shell after putting sum paint remover on?

  • if you dont have alota tools then NO there isn't any easier way, you just have to use some sort of sharp object to take out the stain from the grooves..

  • hey hoh i love this music

  • hi, cool!!

  • yo last song is by Prabhjit Singh - Goriye

  • thanks for ur help

  • sucks that you had a crack in the dhol

  • yea man it cracked on the way.. but even before I fixed it dhol sounded good, now it looks and sounds good LOL im happy! im gonna go to india and get one myself and fuckin put extra padding..

  • hey man i do this all the time, u should use a belt sander, it take half the time and it comes out cleaner, but overall it came out good, keep it up

Can you list the songs please. Thanks
