In fact Sirius if the fifth nearest star system with Barnard's star, Wolf 359, and Lalande 21185 coming in between Alpha Centauri and Sirius in distance. However The dogon refer to it as having 2 counterparts not 1 and the one that has been discovered has an orbital period of fifty years while the Sigiu festival (the one referenced) has a period of 60 years between each festival. And even if they did have some inkling of this foreknowledge why could they not have gained it by noting sirius' brightness?

If we follow Christian principles, we can stop a lot of problems before they begin. the "you should be the first one to be quiet" was a comment actually referring to your own attitude, that you should follow your own advice. I understand you point, but I don't agree with it because maybe, something that you consider irrelevant is relevant for others. The problem comes when we think we can judge what's relevant to others, or correct, based on our own lives. It's practical, but it can also be dangerous and one day you wake up and you're racist, intolerant, etc.

@itzaramaja I'm not judging others based on my own life. I'm judging them based on reason. Some things are simply unreasonable. Ideas and standpoints do not warrent respect by default. Respect must be earned. If an idea warrents no reasonable respect whatsoever, then yes, it is irrelevant overall - regardless of what a single individual thinks about it.
Again, you're being hypocritical. Perhaps YOU should be silent and accept MY opinion; just as you demand I do for others.
