I got my DR-Zed shortly after commenting! I love it! Thinking of doing what you did, taking off those plastic wind catchers and putting steel plates on.  Love my bike, I picked up the SM model and sometimes wish I got the S model instead. Also thinking of getting tyres off a s or e model and changing them, but having a hard time getting information on what I would need to do it. Anyways I subscribed and keep up the good work!

lot easier to convert the e or s to an sm! but you could pick up a set of e or s model wheels, but you'll need to put your 310mm front disc and 240mm rear disc on those hubs. they will fit. then you'll need a caliper adapter. google 'drz400 caliper adapter', a mate of mine makes these. could airmail one to you cheaply.

@secretgardenproject I just got the 'Clark USA' oversize fuel tank. The stock plastic pannels don't fit the new gas tank. I'll try a local shop in town, if not I'll let you know if your friend could make them up. For the wheels I going to wiat for a while before spending money I don't have. You in Ireland?

the E model tank is different the S and SM apparently. the clark tanks on ebay are careful to specify they are different.

@secretgardenproject Yes, I ordered it through Clark themselves. It isn't very pretty, and its plastic. You have to take off the fuel tank to check the coolant, and another down fall is you can't use the choke.

search ebay for "WARP9 WHEELS RIM ROTOR SUZUKI DRZ 400 SM". this is the easiest way to get dirt wheels on the SM model. either use your existing discs, or buy a new set to put on the dirt wheels. the drz400 rider says the radiator shrouds were just replaced with 3mm thick alloy sheets, used a pair of tin snips to cut the right shape.
