Streep is a great actress, but she is much less effective than Angela Lansbury in the original 1962 film. In the first movie, Lansbury is the more intelligent wife behind her dim witted husband who is the Senator. In the newer (and, really unnecessary version), Streep is the Senator who is widow. Streep defines her character by crunching on ice!! The re-made movie falls totally flat. Stick with the 1962 winner.
Her voice.. Her voice.. I love her voice! OMG! This is great!! "That is what the neighbors always say about serial killers"... And then the script! Oh God! She's very nut!! Hahaha!
I LOVE this! It's so well executed by them both, you would think that it was an actual conversation.... they're both brilliant actors, it's wonderful.
haha!! love it! did she reach down to get the script cuz she forgot her lines?? lol!! she did it in such a way...it looks like part of the movie!!!! love love her!! :D
omg liev rockd that out!!!!!!!! WOOO!!! he is so amazing and brilliant. i wish he would come like, improv a story and read me to sleep every night. lol. i luv his voice that much.
Hahahahah "Oedipus Complex!" That's true. But, seriously Meryl is amazing in this and I am so amazed with Liev. I've never really liked him as an actor but the realism he shows in this scene is phenomenal... and to think that this is just a screen test!
Wow. I assume this screen test was for Liev, since the camera focused on him. I'm not at all surprised he got the part, since they played brilliantly off one another. I thought the sexual subtext between them was obvious in the movie, but it's even more obvious here. That's an example of an Oedipus complex if I ever saw one. :O
I wonder why they dropped the southern accent? It would be interesting to hear what prompted the decision, although I must say I agree that the character works better without it.
i think this is in the dvd, but in the actual film, this scene was cut or shortened or rewritten because of the sexual innuendo. but this screentest is intriguing.
that's even better than the real scene....wow

Miranda Priestley was born in 2004! She had her hair dyed , bought fancier clothes and appeared in all her glory in 2006!
