  • Butterfield was pure EMOTION--the epitome of a harp player--I had the pleasure of meeting--jamming and drinking some beers with the entire Butterfield band--many yrs. back. Just an aside to maupric--if you listen to SRV he has coped Albert and Lonnie Mack licks--speeded them up an added a lil' of his own.

  • Butterfield was a real genius on the harp, and his voice came right out of his heart. Long gone, but never forgotten.

  • Some people only appreciate when the artist is famous or if he dies.

In the case of Buzzy Feiten it is not so popular at least here in Brazil nobody knows.

But be assured that Feiten has its own style and Stivie Ray Vaughan has no style just copied a few licks of Hendrix and nothing more, but SRV is dead and was more famous and that's what matters to people. It's like Michael Jackson was already famous after he died turned saint, this is pure bigotry and not enjoy as in my case.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • Simply fantastic !! Many thanks for uploading this. To anybody check The lost tapes with Buzz but also another prodigious Guitarist!

  • Yeahh this is blues men !!

  • Butterfield Blues Band - The band Dylan went electric with. Michael Bloomfield on guitar, the greatest blues guitarist that ever lived.

  • best late career Butterfield I have seen.

  • Cookin' 100 perCENT! Glad I'm from Chitown.

  • Buzz is truly SPECIAL. Heard FULL MOON? Any vids or audio clips out there?

  • killer performance. gotta love pb ...rip.

  • Buzzy Feiten is the shit, boy!! He reminds me of an old friend of mine who passed from cancer a few years back, his name was Robin Listort aka "Sonny Robbins" from Hollywood, Florida. Nice blues licks, not bad for a white boy...

  • Just amazing!

  • BUTTERS LIKED HIS SHURE545 AND ES/51//EV 638

  • I got to see a reunion of this group w Buzzy on guitar in 1987 at the Palamino

  • walking blues !!! the best by paul butterfield in last 35 years thanks Paul.

  • I think the bass player is Bobby Vega

  • Buzz Is a total badass. I dont know that much from Butterfield, but his style on Neil Larsen's High Gear from '79 is on fire. Check it out Feiten Fan, and anyone else who digs that stuff. I heard Buzz with Dave Weckl more recently, and he still cooks. Any more ideas where I can find good Buzz shit?

  • There is a lot of good live Buzz stuff around on the trading circles. With regards to Niel Larsen I checked it out when it was released, and saw the band live, great stuff.

  • A real lead guitar player....good stuff!!

  • I always liked Buzzy on lead.

  • Then again, come to think of it, I think I was the one having an ordinary night! Butterfield's harp and singing on this version is pretty damn good - actually the guitarist has some of Bloomfield's sting too, which I like.

  • The lineup is Butterfield vcls hca, Feiten lead guitar, Ernest Carter dr, Bobby Vega bss,

    Peter Ananasoff gtr. Excellent!

  • Like Butterfield Blues band on an ordinary night, but still good. Not crazy about the flashy lead player but each to his own.

  • Feiten was a rock, not blues guitarist like Bloomfield or even Bishop. He was better than Ralph Wash, the last guitarist in the PBBB.

  • I agree, too many notes, it's not blues, just showing off, annoying immaturity. Rather moot at this point, however.

  • Yes , wasnt Queen of Hearts exquisite ? Buzz played with Gregg in 2000 and a highlight of those shows for me was Buzz on Need Your Love So Bad .. you thought Peter Green was good on that one .. check Buzz !

  • Not Phil Lynott!!

  • I think I accidently deleted a comment about Paul harp...sorry, I belive Paul played Marine Band harmonicas, I am about 85% sure on this but not totally positive. I do know he prefered a Shure mike instead of an Astatic which most Chicago sytle players use.

  • @FeitenFan Paul did play a Marine Band harp he also played Left handed, check out where he holds the mike ?? RIP Paul Butterfield

  • @FeitenFan yes he used Marine Band and not the original more often than the Blues harp variety. Paul is one of the very best harp players ever, but hey there are many giants out ther, Mayall, Musselwhite, Wilson, Blind Owl, I mean the list is long to my souls satisfaction. I hate to be ignorant, as I consider myself fairly knowledgeable and experienced with blues and especially blues harp, but who is the Buzz being referred to here.

  • @canthesoda don't know who that is, but you may have to add another name to the list, name is Ron Beretta out of Chicago, have played for over 30 years and just looking for the right musicians to hook up with and do some recording. AKA Bluesman Ron

  • @FeitenFan Ur right! He used Marine Bands and the Shure PE54 and Shure 545 mics.

  • @FeitenFan early in his career he played through an Electrovoice

  • @FeitenFan yes, i play hohner too, but the Blues Harp model, have laways loved their tone a little better. another good harp is the lee oskar Special 20's

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO I think you meant Lee Oskar Major Diatonic. Special 20's are made by Hohner. I love Marine bands and Special 20's! They are great harps after a little work. Seydel harps are great also but cost a arm...

  • @mrhalter1 you are correct, don't know what i was thinking when i typed that. I still love the Blues Harps, as they fit with the single note style of playing i use, and have always used since first hearing Paul

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO I haven't ever tried the standard hohner blues. I got one of the ms blues that uses hohners modular system. It's pretty nice you can bend the heck out of it. I'll have to try one of the standard blues harps. I've always digged Paul's sound... Just wish he had taken care of himself... I would of loved to see him live but was born a little late for that.... Damn...

  • @mrhalter1 sorry he didn't make it past 87, would have loved to trade harp licks with him. My brother went to high school with Mike Bloomfield, wish i could have traded places with my brother so I would have met him before he hooked up with Paul, history might have been a whole lot different. Might have been the Ron Beretta Blues Band!!!

  • @mrhalter1 yeah, miss him a lot

  • @FeitenFan He exclusivley used marine band harmonicas thats him with one there. he endorsed them on the first album. and he used either a shure pe54 pistol grip mic or a shure 5454 wand mic.

  • Ther is no player remotely like Buzz .. such intensity .. stunning .

  • This is true...I second that opinion..and third it also.

  • richtig guter Blues vom feinsten. Klasse, weiter so

  • I agree !!

  • I believe that's Phil Lynott on Bass.

  • Hi tbcass...

I don't know who the bassist is, but it definitely isn't Phil Lynott!

    Best wishes from the U.K.

  • Thanks but you're many months behind on that one. :-)

  • Ah yes...I hadn't noticed that reply.

    I'll double-check in future!

  • Bloody, bloody good! Butterfield did this on the East-West album with Bloomfield and Bishop on guitars and improved on the version on the 'Better Days' album. Not this good though. Feiten played on the 'Movin' on' album only but took Dinwiddie, Wilson and Beckmeier with him in 'Full Moon'.

  • Butter always had a nack for getting great guitar players, somewhat like Mayall. Feiten rips it on this whole video

  • Don't usually like to hear one of my gods take on another but Buzz acquits himself admirably. (You were expecting otherwise?)

Thanks FF, never knew this treasure trove existed. Keep it coming. Saw Full Moon in LA in May of '82 opening for Jeff Lorber. Been a Buzz fan since Queen Of Hearts.
