Well..I live here on the southeast side.Ive been over the skyway over 100 times. Its not that bad or high at all. Skyway is approx 121 feet over the river.
there are bridges out east that make the skyway look like a baby river bridge.
@tvtimetravel Yes, tolls are separate for each jurisdiction. Skyway is owned by a private group and the Indiana Tollway is owned by the State of Indiana, the home of the Fighting Irish.
this bridge looks eerily simliar to the skyway in burlington ontario.....power lines and a similar looking smaller lift bridge to the right and below. transformer towers tot he right....and the metal arch grid over the middle of the deck....
I have many fond memories of returning to Chicago from South Bend (across this bridge) across this bridge when the steel industry played a bigger role in this region.
Thinking of visting Chicago..really nice vid giving me an idea. =)

@StayingBack71 And there are bridges out here in the West that make those in the East look like toddlers.

Is this expressway mostly on a bridge or mostly on embankment?

@shmuli9 A spectacular bridge.

Do you have to pay the separate tolls for both the Skyway and the Indiana Toll Road in both directions?

I remember riding over that bridge when it first opened, looking out the back of the Ford country squire woody wagon, it was an adventure trip.
