I don't understand why this was taken off and never shown again past 1982. I remember this one when I was a real young boy, and then I never saw it again. It stuck in my memory for ALL of my life and I started thinking I had imagined it.

Obviously created in the 70's given the stoned junkie muppet. I love Jim Henson and nothing since his passing whether Sesame or Muppets have endured the legacy as his creative input trademark he left on everything made prior to!
The man touched kids from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, England, Eastern Europe, a true legend some of us grew up on it, along with the likes of Fat Albert and Electric Company, pure genius. Bert and Earnie can't fuckin' beat them.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I've been wondering all my life if I imagined this one. I haven't seen this since 1981 or 1982, I kid you not! You have relieved my mind of a GREAT DEAL of torture over the years!
I remember when R2D2 and C3PO visited Sesame Street, Big Bird had the same number confusion and C3PO sang the same song while R2 provided the beeps and Big Bird asked the same exact number questions.
You know I just got thinking, if Jerry Nelson would have voiced the purple AM, instead of the blue one. Using the same voice. You would have an Arnold Horshack Muppet. lol
Actually, the audio track is not how I remembered it from watching this on SS way back when. I think it came from a record album, sung in a different key, and the voices, though they are the same actors, don't exactly sync up with the Muppets' mouth movements in this video. But still, quite a find!
@SesameOldSchool: I was curious as to why you overdubbed the different version over the video? Was the sound quality really bad on the source from which you got this rarity? If you have the original, I'd love to hear that one too, no matter how bad the sound quality is. I haven't seen this in close to 30 years!
If I'm wrong about this, I hope someone will let me know, but since this clip exists in its Dutch and Arabic versions, my guess is that he used one of those and dubbed the audio from "The Count Counts" album.
@superAJ71: You're right, that's exactly what he did. I would like to hear the original though. It must exist in the archives. Like I stated when this was first uploaded, I've been thinking about this one my whole life and it got to the point where I thought I might have imagined it. Don't know why it was let go of post-1982! This has now got to be one of the RAREST SS clips there is!
And me: I'm just hoping against all hope that someone will dig up and upload the "30 dots" segment where they're heard talking to each other in unintelligible chipmunky voices, possibly brokering a deal with the 30 squares.
Wasn't Jerry also the lead singer for "Ten Turtles" on a LP from CTW?
Also I think he replaced Bud Luckey, the singer from the TV presentation.

I'm a New Yorker.
If they drive slow... I go beep
If they slow more... I go beepbeep
And if they stop... then I go beepbeepbeep
And that's the way it's done :)

I remember at the end of the song, the purple Muppet says, "Good beepin', baby!"

@tncookies: I remember that too. Another thing that I wondered if I had imagined it. Thanks for the confirmation.

@JMaxfield09 Yeah, this user took the album version (which doesn't match the TV version) and slowed down the music.
