This documentary misrepresents sufism. Sufism better known as tasawwuf is deeply engrained in "ORTHODOX" Islam. The Prophet laid down the meaning of tasawwuf. Its funny how they praise Ali and the auliya(whom I love dearly) but these blessed people would turn in their graves if they knew what they were doing in their name. If you want to learn sufism look into the Quran and Sunnah. Before loving Allah one must fear Allah. This is where true spirituality lies.

Fundamentalists of any religion operate out of fear and ego far more than love of God or anyone else. They spread their fear, polluting everything with it.  Hopefully soon there'll be no receptive ears for their fear-based, divisive, even hateful messages.

A wonderful documentary, about a true mystical branch of Islam, I hope that more tolerance is found both within and outside of Islam, we all loose if we shut out such mystical wisdom.

@waksibra i agree, but true sufism has nothing to do with religion!for the religious people dervishes are godless and heretics!!!if u are in love with the existence, no dogma,no authority,no holy book,no religious laws,no distinction between confesions is needed.just the absolute unity in love with what there is here and now!thats it!

@waksibra it depends on the order!many brotherhoods were forced to become muslims and they practice sufism like a religion!we never read from the quran and if somebody wants to pray he goes to a seperate room,or better for him is to go to a mosque!the only thing which experesses the love for the existence is poetry!thats our holy scripture the poems of seekers who became mad and drunk of love for the beloved.a religious mind can not stand this passion and anarchy,cause love follows no rules!!

@waksibra Bro genuine Sufism is fundametally linked with the Quran and Islam, and goes back to the beginning of Islam. Some people like to perform some of the spiritual practices without embracing Islam, they are free to do so. But it is like practicing Kabbalah without being a Jew, Gnosticism without being a Chrisitian, or Zen without being a Buddhist... you can but your practicing it outside of it's 'system' or greater context. Understand?

Islam and Sufism are different from each other is evident from the fact that ever since the Sufis came in contact with the Muslims they have been waging a war against Islam. For instance, Afifuddin al-Tilimsani explicitly said that the whole Quran is polytheism. And the great Persian Sufi, Abu Sa'id Ibn Abil-Khayr declared: "Not until every mosque beneath the sun Lies ruined, will our holy work be done; And never will true Musalman appear Till faith and Infidelity are one."
