Personally, I never liked Eridan when he was introduced.

But then he got better. His characterization got more interesting, and he became the pathetically badass hipster we all (or at least some of us) know and love.

Alright, since everyone is giving their opinions on Eridan, I guess I will too. I personally liked Eridan. The poor guy, he was so unloved. He was jealous of Sollux, and Feferi and Kanaya got in his way, so I personally don't hate him for killing them. I feel sorry for him. I don't see why people hate him. I'm aware he was a bit of a jerk, but come on, there isn't just a LITTLE bit of sympathy for him? He just wanted to be loved and I personally would've put up with him, emotional wreck or not.

I don't hate Eridan.. He was a spoiled douche bag, yes, that much is obvious. Eridan was interesting, to, so say the least. He had the wrong ideas about people, such as when he thought Feferi was also feeling flushed only to have his heart broken. Feferi had a right to be happy as much as everybody else, and I can see why she couldn't take care of Eridan any more. Nobody liked him, and hey, he brought that on himself. But I think knowing it is what really set him over the edge, and he broke.

Yes, Eridan was an asshole, no doubts.

But also were the others. No one took him into account, no one considered him. It was their fault at least. Hell, GAMZEE killed everyone BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING LOLZ, yet Eridan gets more hate, he was just rancorous, grudgeful, and Feferi was quite the slut to him (Even if with motive). Everyone just hated him for the sake of nothing.

@CmdrMander How. Vriska crippled Tavros, yes, but she did it for reasons I don't think even she can understand. She already payed for that by being basically tortured by her best friends. Then she tried to make up for what she did to Aradia, but it ended up getting her betrayed and killed. Then she was abandoned to die alone by the boy she loved. Not to mention she only killed Tavros because she thought he had actually gotten strong enough to kill her, so technically that was also self defense.

@dragonchic13 Sorry for the offense! He was young/confused/sad/lonely, I agree with all that; but he was also an asshole. When things went downhill, he cracked under the pressure; he attempted to kill his crush, his crush's boyfriend, and the one troll who showed him kindness, and in addition destroyed all hope for their race's future. Yes, he was a lost kid; his "it's hard and nobody understands" line, while melodramatic, is also true. But he dealt with his confusion in the worst ways possible.

@assmckicker666 I admit I was pretty angry at Vriska too until I realized a) Tavros was charging at Vriska, not the other way around, when Vriska was trying to save everyone, b) Spidermom's brainwashing and Doc Scratch's mind games that led her to kill Aradia and Tavros in the first place and c) I rewatched Vriska's slow death from bleeding from Vriska's perspective.
