@1harleyron Sorry for the late response, but you should find the message of "Low Battery ... Please Wait" to have disappeared within 20 minutes of being charged via A/C (wall) charger.
Bought a Used 30gb with lousy battery to put into my car since it supports ipod.. $10 and about 3 minutes and all is well, and I didn't give crApple another dime. yey!
@bebright107 Our batteries do not come packaged like this. You will need to contact the seller of that battery. Our batteries come packaged in a bag, but not foil.
@ttresnan1 If the device has no response when plugged into the usb of a computer, as well as the clickwheel does not work; that alone would sound like the device needs a new main electronics board. If it is not the board, then it would be a combination of various parts, however given the iPod is not recognized by the computer; that usually means the main electronics board is bad. We sell the parts for this iPod on our website as well as a service to install the parts for you.
weeks ago u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you.well you better start to
@mel23jordan This video pertains mainly to the "Please wait Low Battery . . . " message. The sad face can be any number of problems, which could be your battery. Generally you are going to want to check the hard drive first when you have the sad face.
Hey i had a 40 gb 3rd gen 2003 vitage that worked well until i recently did a firm update. it had a plug icon and now it wont even power up? Suggestions?
@ikast98 it needs to be plugged into the A/C charger (little white brick) and then it will finish the Update and re-boot into the Menu screen. You need to use the A/C charger though, it will not get enough power from the USB port.
@DigiExpress I have done that but it is not doing anything. My iPod was working fine one minute and the next it was off, it won't even charge enough to turn it on at all. Any suggestions?
@mianux724 Go back over your installation and make certain all is connected as it should be. If you are confident in your installation then you may have an issue with the receiving end of the connection. The main electronics board (aka logic board) is basically what regulates the battery when charging.

Thanks a million i thought my ipod was junk but thanks to u and 9 dollars plus shipping i got my new battery in 2 days and installed it in under 5 min. @TheDoviverse to find your generation you can reference one of the model numbers on the iPod. They are located either on the backplate, in small text at the bottom; and will start with A1xxx. If your iPod still turns on then you can go to the Settings and then About and under that menu it will list your model number which will start MC or MB. If you get those numbers you can do a google search or visit Apple's site to reference them. Also a program called MacTracker keeps a list of these.
@ituneshater We do sell the hard drives for either the iPod Photo/4th Generation, iPod Video/5th Generation and iPod Classic/6th generation. The U2 edition falls under the iPod Photo/4th generation model. Our website has the parts categorized under the generaiton of iPod, so you would navigate to the 4th Gen & Photo model on our website. It will list all the replacement parts we sell for this device as well as the cost of those parts.
I have the 5g with the iflash mod from tarkan. That mod makes room in the bottom for more battery. Are there any replacements to fit there or somehow have two batteries with a combiner cable-ish setup?
@micnolmadtube There is nothing I know of that would allow a battery to be wired together in series or parallel to get more use of the space. I would say use that space to find out about RedWine audio or something to that affect. Getting a better sound from the device seems more of an easier step than wiring up dual-batteries. And on a side note I love the CF storage mod, if we could sell it we would; but the prices need to come down a bit.
@DigiExpress On the redwine thing, it's a great mod for sure but one I need. I find the sound just fine probably because I don't hook it up to hifi setups. On the price of the cf mod what price are you referring to? The cf card is quite expensive if you want 64GB or more but the adapter from tarkan is very cheap. £2 or something in that range. I know how to connect to batteries in serial connects, add all positives together and all negatives together.
@micnolmadtube The volt stays the same, the amp's are added. I was hoping someone had made a ribbon adapter to make it easy. About recharging I am not so sure it is that simple since it effectively would be a 2s lithium ion battery with no balancer plug.
@micnolmadtube For the CF mod I was talking about the storage itself, the cards are still a bit pricey to make a 32 or 64 GB conversation "worth it". I will look into the dual battery setup with our technicians, they probably have some insight on this or we could have them do a project ipod, so that we can test these types of mods out. Thanks for the reply, it's great to see the DIY community interacting.
@fiendwithaface13 The Sad Face icon is something that represents any number of issues with an iPod. The first fix would be to attempt to troubleshoot the software side of the issue first by visiting Apple's Support site for the iPod Video model. If there is not a software fix for the issue you may need a battery at the best or a hard drive or logic board in the worst case. We do have a Diagnosis / Repair service for $25.00 (+ s&h), the details of which are on our website.
Hello my ipod video 30gb charges a whole night, i disconnect it from charger and i only get about 10-15 min. of watching video after it says battery low but the battery icon is a little green. Then i turn it on again and listen to music and it gives me about 20-30 min of music time. do you think i need a new battery or what do you think might be the problem?
@MichaelmLopez The age of the device would suggest that the battery would be the culprit, though since the battery icon changes intermittently you may have a logic board problem. If you replace the battery and find the device to be functioning in a similar fashion (i.e. depleting a charge quickly) then you know it is a logic board issue. We do sell either part for the iPod 5th generation Video model on our website.
you can get a 25$ itunes card for 5000 points on checkpoints app. and you start with 300 but if you put in the code bbonme when starting or signing up whatever you wanna call it it gives you a 6,000 bonus. so yea try it out. and you welcome.
My iPod has been claiming that it's charging even when it's not, and the battery reads as full up until it's next to nothing. Is this a battery issue? It also dies pretty quickly, I haven't timed it yet, but I charged it last night and went to sleep with it on, and this morning it was dead. So that's about eight hours.
@koffeeben This would be either a battery or the receiving end of that connection, which is the main electronics board. The battery should last you at least 14 hours of continuous play time. We do carry both of those parts on our website, as well as have a service to Diagnose the issues for you.
hey sir, im having trouble putting my IPOD back together lol. Where the battery is with the two pieces of long wire things to go in the back of the ipod, its not going in. lol. am i missing something?? haha
@MrBenson3436 The longest of those cables is for the battery, the one that reaches to the bottom of the case. This should have about a 90 degree bend in it, and it will seat just to the right of the charging port. That takes some pressure for a proper connection. The shorter cable, with black tape on it, is harder to put into place. There is, on the logic board, a small 'door' it is black/brown colored and the cable needs to be positioned perfectly for the connection. Once connected close it up
@MrBenson3436 the connections on the main electronics board for the headphone jack is the connection beneath the hard drive, literally underneath the hard drive. this is a fpc connector that "flips" open like a hinge. once you seat the cable into the open hinge, close it gently and you will have a good connection. The connection for the battery is located below the hard drive and the connection is a "slider" type which should slide upwards so you can seat the battery ribbon cable, then close it.
@RealHipHopTalkTV I am not certain that you can just reinstall that part. If the ribbon cable or the receiving end are damaged you may have to replace the part attached to it entirely. You can check our website and filter the products for your iPod model only. In there you can find if the part you damaged is something that we sell as a replaceable unit. You could also send the device to us for the repair, our website has all the information on doing so.
@TheFrmktm The iPod Touch (iPad and iPhone) all use a Flash chip on which the data is stored. These chips are soldered directly to the main electronics board and cannot be swapped.
@bogdanovtima Unfortunately when the glue the battery in it can sometimes get stuck to the headphone jack/hold switch cable. Then damage can be done when trying to take the battery out of the iPod. In order to fix the problem a new Headphone Jack part will be needed. We sell them on our websites and can also install them for you if you would like. Check out our website for more information.
@iblaze189 If you are not sure what is causing the problem with your iPod Classic you can always send it to us and we can do a diagnosis on it for $25 and let you know what is making the iPod malfunction. Check out our website for more information
do these instructions apply to the newer ipod classic models? i was under the impression that apple designed those differently to be more difficult to open.
Okay so heres my question. My ipod whenever it hooks up to the computer (windows 7) instantly freezes my Itunes. Also there are some clicking noises associated with this whole deal. Go figure i got the thing about four years back. And a couple nights ago it took a rough hit on the kitchen table but it was nothing that this thing hasnt taken before...... So ive tried everything in the forums will someone please help ME SOSOSOSOSOS
That is more than likely a hard drive problem. That doesn't mean that you need a new hard drive, but it may be stuck in a loop which is freezing your iTunes. For just $25 you can send it in for a diagnosis and a resolution to the problem. Please visit our website or give us a call if you would to place an order.
i dont get it. i ran the tool down the side trying to separate it, but it wont open. both of the tools are dull now because the case shredded both of them
im thinking about doing a couple repairs on my ipod headphone jack, and buying new back and front plates to have annodized how hard would it be to transfer all the parts from one shell to another and do they have foam glued on the shells.
@Jaycente Sorry but you can not use a 30gb headphone jack in an 80gb 5th gen. You can use a 60gb headphone jack in the 80gb or an 80gb in the 60gb but they will not go down to the 30gb. We sell the 80gb headphone jacks on our website though. Check it out for more information.
@TheJunior1018 If you pulled the whole thing off then you would need a new main board. If it was just the black plastic clip then it is fixable. Send it to use and we can help you out. Check out our website for more information.
okay so i got a new battery because my ipod wouldnt hold a chrge and it only worked in the wall unit. i replaced the battery and now i have the same problem again, when i try to charge it says fully charged but when i take it off it dies instantly. any ideas?
@escimojoe751 That sounds like a main board issue. If your main board is not working properly you can go through 10 batteries and they still will not work. The battery is ok, it is just the main board. We sell main boards for both the classic and the video. Check out our website for more information.
@escimojoe751 Well the part you could have snapped off might have been on the main board. You can fix the problem by buying a new main board. Check out our website for more information. Thanks and have a great day
how long will your replacement batterys hold a charge? mine will only hold a charge for about 4 hrs straight of music. when apple says it should run over 20 hrs. i have a 120G ipod classic(pretty sure its a 5th gen.), but the battery is really annoying me. just wondering if its worth it or if its a cheapo battery that holds the same amount of battery life as the one i have now.
@tofu208 So you have the iPod video 60gb? If it is we do repair them and can have one of our technicians take a look at it and let you know what the problem is. This service is $25. For more information check out our website or give us a call.
i have the original 60gb ipod. i have these black smudges on the screen. once in a while they move get bigger, smaller, shorter and longer. do you know what that is and can it be fixed? please let me know! Thanks!!! : )
im not sure what my problem is if i need a new battery,
i have a ipod video 5g, when i plug it into my computer itunes does not recegnise it and it does not show in the windows explorer. when i plug it into the computer this ipod is on and it then shuts off and says very low battery when the ipod is not connected it says that the battery is not low. i cant sync the ipod. WHAT SHOULD I DO!! PLEASE HELP
@derektg3 The problem could be your battery or your iPod may have some other problem. At DigiExpress we could take a look at your iPod and let you know what needs fixed. Visit our website or call for more information
@castlezfinest1 If you'd like to send it in, we'd be glad to help! Our professional diagnosis/repair service is well known to have your iPod repaired quickly and inexpensively, and is just $25 plus return shipping. There is no further cost for repairing your iPod unless additional parts are needed for the repair.
I have an iPod video that won't connect to my computer at all...
It takes it a long time to turn on when not connected to the computer, and when I do connect it, my iTunes either freezes or doesn't recognize it, even though my computer recognizes that it's connected. When I connect it, the iPod screen says 'Do not disconnect' and it won't do anything else. The iPod also freezes and won't work properly at all...
my ipod is broken!!!!!! it is a classic 160gb, i bought it at this one electronic warehouse. i just recently bought it used and i only had it for like 3 weeks. it won't turn on anymore, the ipod only turns on when it is plug into a charger in a outlet. it doesn't turn on when i plug it into my comp, it just start blinking the apple logo and thats all. and when it did work, whenever i would squeeze it, it would turn off. plz help me.
It sounds like something is loose inside, possibly the battery cable. We can fix it for you, if it is just something simple, then the cost is only $25. Please visit our website for more details.
ok heres the deal i brock my ipod opening tool so i used pins and i was able to open it then i did everything you said and i was able to do it so ill give you 5 stars favourite and sub. PS IM ONLY 12
I broke my tools trying to open the ipod. I also hurted myself, and I could not get it OPEN! It's like my ipod has permanent glue! What can I use that doesn't get broken. And makes the job easier?
The glue that holds it together is more like silicon. You can heat it up with a hair dryer to loosen it. You can then use a guitar pick to pry around the edges, but most iPod batteries come with an iPod opening tool. Its very easy.
i used my ipod for 9 continous hours and then switched it off......next time i tried stating it.... it wont start... i tried charging it but computer does not respond too... i used a fire wire to charge but in vain again... its a 5th generation ipod 2 years old
hi. so i replaced the battery, but the battery won't hold a charge. my ipod 5 gen will only work if the ipod is plugged into an outlet. When i plug my ipod into the pc, i get a Please wait very low battery.
Do you have any suggestion as to how I can get the battery working/charging?
Hi, I'm just wondering about the strength or brittleness of the 5th gen iPod video's male port. It's because I dock and undock my 80GB iPod video many tmes evryday to my iM11 speakers and I'd just lke to know if docking and undocking it many times is just OK? (Please take note that I do d docking & undocking really carefully.) It seems to me that the dock port in the iPod is built-in to the main board. How strong is it to withstand evryday docking/undocking? Can it b rpaired if it snaps? Thanks.
Ok before i watched your video i was watching another one one fixing it.
so as i am watching it i was following the instructions and he didnt mention that the battery ribon is conected so i pry it open only to figure out that the whole ribbon and socket came out.
It depends, if the connector pulled off the main board leaving the pins in tact, then you should be able to put it back on. If the pins are broken off, you will need a new main board.
Sorry that you had difficulty, this video does say "do not pull the back plate off" and shows that the battery cable is holding the two pieces together.
We recommend watching each video a few times before starting an installation, so that you are familiar with the procedure.
thanxx for the quik response and the fast shipping!! u guys are great...
still have a problem :(
ok so i re tried to install the battery and now i re connented it to charge and it shows a low battery and says "please wait very low battery" is that wat is suppose to happen?
It may not charge from the computer, try a wall charger for the first charge. If that doesn't work, then you have a different problem. Check the battery cable connection to make sure it is in far enough.
Is there any difference between the 5th gen 30gb ipod video battery and the 80gb ipod classic battery? Or they are just the same? I was just planning to buy a higher capacity battery for my 80gb ipod classic.
The video doesn't mention that there is a release for the battery connection! It's very simple, you just need to lift up on the plastic connector where the ribbon plugs in to open, and press down to clamp the ribbon cable back into place when you're done. Just pulling out the cable and pushing it back in will ruin your cable and connection! (I found this out the hard way!)
do you lose all your stored files if you change your battery?

You can check our website and filter the products for your iPod model only. In there you can find if the part you damaged is something that we sell as a replaceable unit. You could also send the device to us for the repair, our website has all the information on doing so.

Hello would I be able to upgrade the memory on8gb iPod touch to like 16gb or 64gb is it possible
TheFrmktm 1 year ago
@TheFrmktm The iPod Touch (iPad and iPhone) all use a Flash chip on which the data is stored. These chips are soldered directly to the main electronics board and cannot be swapped.
DigiExpress 1 year ago
@bogdanovtima Unfortunately when the glue the battery in it can sometimes get stuck to the headphone jack/hold switch cable. Then damage can be done when trying to take the battery out of the iPod. In order to fix the problem a new Headphone Jack part will be needed. We sell them on our websites and can also install them for you if you would like. Check out our website for more information.

do these instructions apply to the newer ipod classic models? i was under the impression that apple designed those differently to be more difficult to open.
f0ksie 1 year ago
@f0ksie
Yes, they are the same. All Classic models are harder to open than the 5th gen Video models, but they still open the same way.

So ive tried everything in the forums will someone please help ME SOSOSOSOSOS
nsman06 1 year ago
@nsman06
That is more than likely a hard drive problem. That doesn't mean that you need a new hard drive, but it may be stuck in a loop which is freezing your iTunes. For just $25 you can send it in for a diagnosis and a resolution to the problem. Please visit our website or give us a call if you would to place an order.

Check it out for more information.

okay so i got a new battery because my ipod wouldnt hold a chrge and it only worked in the wall unit. i replaced the battery and now i have the same problem again, when i try to charge it says fully charged but when i take it off it dies instantly. any ideas?
escimojoe751 1 year ago
@escimojoe751 That sounds like a main board issue. If your main board is not working properly you can go through 10 batteries and they still will not work. The battery is ok, it is just the main board. We sell main boards for both the classic and the video. Check out our website for more information.

how long will your replacement batterys hold a charge? mine will only hold a charge for about 4 hrs straight of music. when apple says it should run over 20 hrs. i have a 120G ipod classic(pretty sure its a 5th gen.), but the battery is really annoying me. just wondering if its worth it or if its a cheapo battery that holds the same amount of battery life as the one i have now.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I broke my tools trying to open the ipod. I also hurted myself, and I could not get it OPEN! It's like my ipod has permanent glue! What can I use that doesn't get broken. And makes the job easier?
1T54M49 2 years ago
You can use a watch back opening tool or a jeweler's knife, however these tools may leave scratches on your back plate.
DigiExpress 2 years ago
The glue that holds it together is more like silicon. You can heat it up with a hair dryer to loosen it. You can then use a guitar pick to pry around the edges, but most iPod batteries come with an iPod opening tool. Its very easy.

Do you have any suggestion as to how I can get the battery working/charging?
I bought 2 new battery, both had the same result.
Send me a message on youtube mail thingy.
Reply ASAP. Thanks
chineboy359 2 years ago
One of two things could be the problem...
1. You do not have the battery cable connected properly and inserted in the connector deep enough.
2. You main board is the issue, not the battery.
Check the battery connection to make sure the cable is making good contact with the connector. If that doesn't work, you can send it for a diagnosis.

Thanks.
wizardkelly09 3 years ago
Ok before i watched your video i was watching another one one fixing it.
so as i am watching it i was following the instructions and he didnt mention that the battery ribon is conected so i pry it open only to figure out that the whole ribbon and socket came out.
my question to u is that replaceble ?
plz answer back
villsta 3 years ago
It depends, if the connector pulled off the main board leaving the pins in tact, then you should be able to put it back on. If the pins are broken off, you will need a new main board.
Sorry that you had difficulty, this video does say "do not pull the back plate off" and shows that the battery cable is holding the two pieces together.
We recommend watching each video a few times before starting an installation, so that you are familiar with the procedure.
Let us know if we can help.

ok so i re tried to install the battery and now i re connented it to charge and it shows a low battery and says "please wait very low battery" is that wat is suppose to happen?
menviv17 3 years ago
It may not charge from the computer, try a wall charger for the first charge. If that doesn't work, then you have a different problem. Check the battery cable connection to make sure it is in far enough.
Give us a call if you need help.

Is there any difference between the 5th gen 30gb ipod video battery and the 80gb ipod classic battery? Or they are just the same? I was just planning to buy a higher capacity battery for my 80gb ipod classic.

Thanx This Helps I lOve U!!
infamousny2121 3 years ago
The video doesn't mention that there is a release for the battery connection! It's very simple, you just need to lift up on the plastic connector where the ribbon plugs in to open, and press down to clamp the ribbon cable back into place when you're done. Just pulling out the cable and pushing it back in will ruin your cable and connection! (I found this out the hard way!)
