  • Of course, 'The Homosexual', that is the social construction, did not exist in Ancient Greece. So no, Alexander the Great was not 'gay' but probably had lots of gay sex.

    Know your Foucault kids.

  • Alexander the great was gay???

  • @Shzaydancingtiger He probably had sex with both men and women, it was not uncommon back then.

  • In the Ancient Greek world, it was believed that if a man lay with a man in love, it would increase his masculinity, since his seed was not being swallowed by the womb of a woman, therefore decreasing his masculinity by taking a part of his seed away from him. It was also believed that a child was the product of a man's seed only, and that a woman was only a vessel in which the child grew. Modern science can tell us differently about that second part, but the Greeks were extremely patriarchal.

  • Precious tribute, Great movie, and their love was so DEEP and BEAUTIFUL as well. Besides, Jared Leto is so, so precious.

  • this video is made my a gay guy !! is to gay the video that why!!!~

  • He have my name, but im not gay .

  • you're a repressed gay

  • ...that was intense.

my eyes were literally glued to the screen for the whole 4 minutes a 5 seconds.

    excellent vid! :)

  • LOS HOSEXUALES DIMINAREMOS EL MUNDO DE NUEVO¡¡¡

  • @kire1721 los "hosexuales" uff ke buenoo osea todo menos los homosexuales xD

  • And also, just in my imagination, I always pictured Alexander the Great as a femme pretty boy. Colin Farrell is a grubby looking action hero single handedly facing down war elephants. All in all I think Oliver Stone wanted to portray Alexander a masculine European superman who enlightened the strange barbaric Persians, and, because he was supposedly so masculine, his homosexuality should be downplayed. Blah very boring.

  • I hated this film. For one thing the Persians are portrayed more like Arabs wearing strange costumes made to look as exotic and "oriental" as possible. Not only that but Roxana was portrayed by a black actress, which is not how she would have appeared. For another thing I have no idea why everyone seems to portray this as a very homosexually explicit film. It's actually very squeamish about the subject. Alexander is also shown as too much of a hypermasculine superhero.

  • do they make out in the movie ? ;)

  • jared leto...his eyes <3

  • Alexander the Great had many wives and had children. He is not gay.

  • @UnaFatsaUnaRasta22 nah but he is bisexual :/

  • I like it!!!

  • they were gays homosexual bastards just like the rest of gayreeks

  • i dont care if alexander was gay or not. for me he was the greatest commander in the world

  • Back then it was not out of the ordinary for a man, especially one of a high rank, to take another man as his lover.

...I mean, come on. Man or woman, who WOULDN'T jump Jared Leto??

  • @OoOBomChickaWowWow Hahaha ain't that the truthX3 But yeah, it's cause there was no such real thing as 'gay' or 'lesbian'. Love was love. Fuck me I wish the world could revert back 2 that... the pre-religion view of love, etc. etc...

  • The Greek King Alexander the Great sent 300 armors, spoils from Asia to one of the most sacred Greek temples, the Athenian Parthenon.

When he returned to Greece, he restored the statues on the Athenian Acropolis that were removed by the Persians.

Alexander speaking with Diogenes:"I desire that victorious HELLENES SHOULD DANCE AGAIN in India.."

  • @SMYRNAfreedom оh, u were thre when Alexander was talking right? IDIOT.. ALEXANDER THE GREAT IS MACEDONIAN AND HE FUCKED GREEK MOMS IN THAT TIME.. AND NOW U CHEER AT HIM HAHAHA IDIOT GAYREEKS

  • THE GREATEST MACEDONIAN KING EVER!

and p.s he was not blonde!

  • Now THAT was one movie that was hard for a heterosexual man, like myself, to watch. In fact, I've never been able to watch it w/o fast forwarding the really gay scenes. Which means that as a whole, I've actually sat down and watched maybe only 20-25% of the movie.

  • @mooncooninc83 I get your point but I find it sad that in this world everything sexual is tagged either as str8 or homo. Is reality that simple ? Can everybody be classified like that ? Sexuality is a fluent matter and come and goes 1) with the genetics 2) with the social constructs 3) with the past experiences. Nobody is "str8" or "gay". We are all on a vast spectrum where all those influences come into play to shape our sexual attractions. Sexuality is a matter of pleasure NOT reproduction

  • @finaltorment I understand from where you're coming from. But, without sounding too insensitive to your views regarding Hueman sexuality, I don't subscribe to the idea that homosexuality is an appropriate way of life. For me, to say that sexuality is a matter of pleasure and not reproduction, is to overemphasize the realm of pleasure. It just sounds a bit too self-serving and attempts to ensure one's innocence. As if to say, that because it brings someone pleasure, it's okay.

  • @mooncooninc83 I agree that self-serving is clearly not the highest morality. What if this sexuality was an opportunity to share morality and positive competition, whatever ? In any case, I would never agree with a vision where sexuality should be there for reproductive means. If we say that, it would lead FAST to overpopulation. ...Homosexuality is, from my point of view, a sexual orientation... not a lifestyle.

  • People should remember that, in those times, and especially in Greece, labels like 'gay' and 'straight' had no meaning. Ever heard of the theban band? Of the bond of young lover / old lover between soldiers? It was the same with the samurai, too. Male love between warriors is older than time, and it didn't make them any less 'manly', on the contrary.

It's useless to try and judge other times with today's (rather flawed, I'd say) homophobic discriminatory logic.

  • Hephaistion and Alexander are in love. It's not that hard. They are soulmates. But imagine how difficult that would be to explain in those times.

  • Beautiful video ^_^

  • Good Vid. I am of the belief that Hephaistion and Alexander were Lovers. and that their love was probably deeper than anything anyone in the world has felt since.

  • Jaaaared <3

  • i don't care if they were lovers or not. but i think that there were strong feelings between them, and i am sure that they cared about each other. and what i really admire is their incredible and awesome friendhship. come to think of it, how many of you could be sure now that they have a friend for life? it's sad, but most of us will never know...

  • hot

  • iweather he was gay or not it shouldn't matter he was still great

  • Congrat's Ulysses0302 great vid and song.

  • Comment removed

  • Ouragous that they keep putting these false disclaimers on these clips. Alexanders

relationship with Hephaistion- and Bagos, are explicitedly recorded by some of his

closest contemporaries (Generals, et al). All, friends & foes alike, confirm their love and Alexander's nature. To deny it is worse than closed mindedness!

  • i wish they kissed or somethin, but im glad their both 2gether in the end (in heaven or wherever) i luv the seen were jared gave colin that ring......they should of had sex tho

  • @destiny21miller There is at least one scene where they

kiss (& several where they embrace...) primarily in

Directors cut - not main (theatrical) release. Watch clips on

You Tube, several show the hug scene where they

capture the kiss shot from behind Alexander. Also shows him

giving Bagoas a long passionate kiss (Singles him out among

the dancers...) and captures Hephaistion's (mixed) reaction, i.e.

between bemused and (more like) peeved than angry - Leto

    plays it just right!

  • sigh...could look all day.....

  • why do we get so wrapped up in the question of sex ?. think of the three most fantastic people you know, and they still could not stand in this mans shadow. if this world goes on for another thousand years, nobody will ever eclipse thie man. he is almost too fantastic to understand.

  • they were lovers most of these men at that time and possibly even now liked girls and boys, perhaps even there own horses lol Alexander in his youth had High Class prostitutes sent to him by his father so they could teach him a rumour has it even when young he came across as a Femm. Male , but shit that was one tough Femm male!! Gay or Not thousands of years later he still captures the imagination of All.

  • such a good movie, a good love story hmm so is brokeback mountain

  • Alexander is my favourite film!!!

    Jared is amazing! <3

  • and guys use the right words alexander the great cant be gay he wasnt gay he was bi he add a child with queen roxanne so he is bi not gay cause he had wives and same as hephaistion and for the record

  • @babyboy1876 That's incorrect; he could've been gay and still had sex with women. It happens.

  • i respect him for what he have done for this world he was an still is one of the world first military general that shape this world in to a good place. his ideas were real the brought education, culture, business, development and a way of live to nations that were live in the past world if many of our world leaders now would look and take a page out of his book what a better world we would have

  • ...for those who are arguing that anicent greek and roman males didn't have sexual relations with males, stop. I'm a Classical Studies major at university, and it is pure fact that they did. I have other 25 books by ancient authors affirming this. Sparta, Athens, Macedonia, it was normal everywhere in Greece.

  • EXACTLY :)

  • @DjLMFAO dar wat i herd the last time a fight that have been going on for year after his death until now where he was lay to rest is in hiding due to the war

  • so wat if he was gay, bi or str8 it doesnt matter we mus give thanks for what he have done for the world. he shape the world into what it is today. he brought education, good will, and many more stuff to the unknown world. a man must not be judge be his sexual life but by what he has offer the world. we must not sit here and talk about who he have sex with the main fact is that the great kingdom of macedonia have been destroyed right

  • now there is currently a war going on by greece and other countries over macedon. what alexander achieve in his life many of you who talking neditive about him will never.

  • @babyboy1876 I agree, but the thing is, most people think that because he achieved so much, he couldn't ever be bisexual or gay. And that's not true. Straight people aren't the only ones that can achieve great things. And I do agree, he should be respected because of his accomplishments and not his sexuality.

  • @babyboy1876 he brought education, good will yeah yeah....blah blah blah, you forget to say that he bring to the world million of deaths!

what is the diffeerence between of Alexander,Napoleon and Hitler, only 1,Alexander was GAY the others 2 NO!

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 So what? At least he brought those things. And who's to say that he didn't kill all of those people because they were going to kill his people? He could have been doing that to protect his kingdom, as did most rulers in history. Are you going to say that they're all terrible for capturing lands? Or just him because you claim that he was gay?

  • @Febnig he conquered lands "only" for his glory, not for education.....etc...bullshit..!

and he has not killed people to protect herself, but he killed millions of people for his egoisem, and his cruelty,he was just a killer, like hitler and napoleon,or Genghis Khan .nothing more!

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 How can you possibly know that he conquered lands for glory and not for education? Do you personally know him? I don't think so.

And again, as I previously said, there are thousands of rulers in history who killed others to protect their people. In the USA, George Washington fought Great Britain, killing many of them, and won America's Independence. He did that for the good of the people who lived in the colonies in the 18th century. Is he a bad person for doing that?

  • @Febnig read history first than comment!

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 Why would I comment if I didn't read history? And anyways, that's my opinion, which you can't find in any history book. Both you and I have no idea on what was going through Alexander's head when he was conquering the lands. Nobody knows if he was doing it for glory or education. There is no possible way of knowing this unless you build a time machine and ask him yourself.

  • @Febnig and YES FUCK all gays...i hate the motherfuckers!

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 So you want to have sex with gay people? Because that's what fuck means. You want to fuck a gay person? Good for you. There was no reason why I needed to know this. And why do you hate they lesbian (if they're gay, it is going to be a lesbian) who has sex with her mother? That's their personal business, not yours. But why is this relevant? We're talking about Alexander, who if he really was gay, I can assure you, he was not having sex with his mother.

  • @Febnig get lost kid...

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 That's the best comeback you could think of? You give up too easily.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 I'd rather not

  • @Febnig go to hell fag

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 Again, no, why should I? The insults you're throwing at me are not effecting me one bit. If anything, you're the one who's a fag that's going to hell.

  • @Febnig ej you little fag ,for the last time shut the fuck up and get lost...

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 For the last time no. Why don't you shut up? If you get so emotional over fights on youtube than don't make stupid comments.

  • Sounds like someone has issues...

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 homofob :P

  • @NoMoreLiesAboutMeToo fuck you...

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 n' fuck u 2 :)

  • @NoMoreLiesAboutMeToo crazy litlle bitch

  • @TheBlackWarrior09 Thank u ;))

  • @babyboy1876 Tell em! :))

  • and to highlight upon Frankie's post...

During Alexander's time, it was commonplace for men to have male lovers, as a tribute to Dionysis. This oft-repeated act is why Paul wrote in the Bible that "a man shall not sleep with another man" which is what people use to say that homosexuality is wrong. I'm sorry, Vascular, but it has been proven, again and again, that Alexander was AT THE LEAST bi-sexual. Also... it has been proven that HE'S DEAD AND THERE IS NO POINT IN ARGUING THIS! Haha....

  • @Setres09

in no sense had it been proven, and you clearly dont have a fuckin clue about it if you think so

  • Don't engage him, for all our sakes. Apparently, he's been trolling elsewhere and making a general idiot and nuisance of himself.

  • lol, okay I won't. Just two more comments.... Vascular, I majored in ancient history and know more aout it that you possibly EVER could. OPEN YOUR EYES AND READ A BOOK INSTEAD OF THE INTERNET and you might start seeing the truth. People who refuse to see sense or fght just to fight are NOT worth it. :-P And I *bow gracefully* am done here :-)

  • In light of this, it is not surprising that there is evidence that their sexual relationship was indeed lifelong. Lucian, writing in his book On Slips of the Tongue describes an occasion when Hephaestion's conversation one morning implied that he had been in Alexander's tent all night.

  • @lovingfrankie

Yet arrian, plutarch ,and diadorus, the most important source on alexander, dont mention it at all

Any evidence there is purely circumstantial

  • you guys do realize that while we care about someone's sexuality, they really didn't give a fuck. this wasn't nomal as in everyone had male companions, but it wasn't like our modern ideas of gay. i think there's a term, presentism or something of reflecting modern ideas into historical situations where they kinda don't apply. as far as 'evidence' goes, there's very little for anything that Alex did and what there is is all second hand. so good luck proving either point.

  • "everyone had male companions?"

What does this mean? If your suggesting that all greek men had sex with other men then your beyond stupid

  • He wasn't gay he was basicly known for being very loving ... he dosn't care wether its a man or woman. GO ALEX!

  • Instead of asking for proof that he was gay, try asking for proof that he WASN'T gay.

  • Honestly, how fucking stupid are you?

He who asserts must also prove. - Aristotle

    Can you understand that? retard

  • @Vascular15

You quoted Aristotle. They teach that in preschool these days? I didn't "assert" whether he was gay or not gay. But, I do remember someone asserting that Alexander was not gay, without proving that he wasn't while demanding proof that he was. Can you understand that? I won't resort to name calling, because, unlike you...I finished school.

  • @AnneMorr

christ how fuckin stupid can you be, its simple

there is alot of evidence he had sex with women, and very litte that he had sex with men

the fact that he had sex with women isnt disputed by anyone with half a fucking brain, what is disputed is that he had sex with men, if you are going to call him gay you have to prove it

now jog the fuck on you retard

  • @Vascular15 duh cause the luv of his was hephaistion

  • @chapiz28 fuck off you retard, come back when you have a fucking clue

  • @AnneMorr Anne, you said it 100% right on! But

ignore this guy (Vascular); all he can do is call

everyone, who disagrees with him - no matter how

much proof we provide, stupid or worse and rain

viscious obscenaties on us. This is not an dis-

course - its one side presenting a factual, honest

& straightforward assertion to receive - from the

other side, the ranting tirade of a selfloathing, hate

filled juvenile pretender; with no credible position!

IGNORE HIM - maybe he'll go away!

  • Not lovers, these two, Greek, definitely, Afraid to speak their minds or show affection, no. But they were brothers in

heart and comrades in arms. Hephastion was not one of Alexander's wives or pretty boys.

  • Since I'm only referring to the movie and not to real history... oh, I'm tired of repeating that all the time someone seems to feel like jumping to Alexander's side to protect his reputation...

  • thats right "protect his reputation". This is not true. But I have just finished a same discussion with another guy, so I am really tired of this stupid discussion. So I will not reply on this..!

  • @Ulysses0302 Such nonsense ("Protect his reputation")

They were lifetime friends & lovers; what are you worried

about - even the BBC docu. (After reviewing all historical

refs.) decided to be honest they had to refer to Hephaistion

as "his (Alexander's) best friend & lover". If the crusty old

BBC can admit it why not you pussies & homophobes?

  • @MrGBOOK I actually just added those disclaimers because I had enough of people going haywire here because their worst fear seems to be that this might be true. I'm surely not a homophob... (since I hoped for a kiss between I guess I'm quite the opposite *lol*) but I just was tired of reading all those "HOW CAN YOU SAY HE WAS GAY?!" comments since no one seemed aware of that this was only the movie, not a history lession ;) I even got one on my profile page, seems to be a hot topic XD

  • @Ulysses0302 I certainly was not directing

those comments at you! I was referring to

all the "deniers" out there - homophobes,

frustrated closet cases or whatever. Please

know how much I respect & appreciate that

you put these wonderful vids together and

posted...I would never think anything but

    good thoughts towards "Ulysses0302'

  • @Strategos300 Only contemporanious accounts from some of his closest (generals, etc.). ALL confirm 1) Hephaistion was his great love. 2) Bagos took (care of him) in Hephaistion's abscence and 3) His one "marriage" was of *(political) convenience! So quit the posturing...

  • @MrGBOOK none confirm, your lying again

  • @Strategos300 Only every historical mention of their relation-

ship. Even those who didn't detail same always spoke of "it"

differently: In ancient Greek referring to all other comrades

as "Loved Alexander", but in Hephaistion's case, they always

used the ancient Greek for "lover OF Alexander"... ENOUGH

    ALREADY!

  • @sahajad Yeah but you gotta admit Jared Leto

provided a perfect image - for what the story

(history) Mary Renault &, of course, what Oliver

Stone was tring to say. I wasn't (initially) very

happy (being an Alexander-phile) with Colin

being cast in the lead. But once he was,

Jared was the perfect Hephaistion!, right hair

    or not...

  • sniff...sniff that was beautiful!!

  • The music is just amazing! And it fits perfectly to the film, great job!

  • Ummm... normally I don't bother replying to this type of video but, 5hitter, not to rain on your rhetoric(which is shoddy and that's me being polite), but you do know that historically Alexander is considered bi? Just like heracles and most other greek hero's... it's really not that big a deal, let alone slander.

  • Oh, is he really considered bi when there is nothing but circumstantial evidence to suggest so.

You should probably read up on your history a bit more instead of blindly believing and perpetuating this modern myth.

  • Actually, most historians think they were lovers. The documentary "In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great," calls Hephaistian Alexander's "friend and lover". Renowned historian Paul Doherty? Lovers. Next month there's a book coming out called "Alexandros: The Lifelong Love Story of Alexander the Great and Hephaistion, Son of Amyntor."

And keep in mind, there's no proof he was straight. The assumption Alexander liked women is circumstantial as well.

  • And in this documentary, who do they state as the source of information for calling him his lover? Or do they just state it without referencing any material.

Do you know that the main sources on Alexanders life come from Arrian, Plutarch, and Diadorus, none of whom say that Alexander ever had sex with men.

  • I have read the sources you're talking about; so did the works I spoke about. Robin Lane Fox, as you said, thinks he was probably bisexual, and gives evidence. Other very credible historians: Mary Renault, Cambridge professor of Greek Studies Paul Cartledge and Andrew Chugg who has been on BBC radio and published in several history journals, and the Random House Encyclopedia (as of 1983).

As for the documentary, see it yourself; it streams on Netflix for free, very informative.

  • @michirucarrera

how stupid can you be, I ask for the sources from this documentary and you tell me to watch it for myself. You are the one who brought it up as if it prooved he was homosexual. bring up the point how even Robin lane Fox says that there is no proof he was gay, and do you even dispute it? No you dont, you just he he gives evidence? What evidence? The completely circumstantial kind?

  • As you didn't respond to my answer to your saying that no credible historian would say Alexander liked men. It makes me wonder how many "credible historians" outside of Robin Lane Fox you've read.

I never said he was homosexual; his sexuality is open to interpretation. I'll continue that argument below against your other note...

  • Can you not read? I said that no credible historian would say he didnt have sex with women, NOT that no credible historian would say he liked men.

O DEAR you have just embarrassed yourself. So now you can start replying to my points, if you can read them that is

  • @michirucarrera

And then you go on to name other historians, excellent, can any of them prove he had sex with men. No, no they cant. If your goin to reply to me , you should actually try and respond specifically to the points I bring up, which you clearly havnt done.

    Again, your a fucking idiot.

  • Can any of the historians prove he had sex with women aside from the one time he got Roxanne pregnant, which was only after Hephaistion was gone and he was insane and drunk?

The sources for Alexander are very contradictory and limited. Proving anything is difficult, so we go by clues and interpretation. If you think he didn't like men, cool: though few historians agree with you, some do.

  • Jesus you are still trying. So your saying that only proven time Alexander had sex with anyone was with a woman!

    Read again, a woman...

Just jog on, my point stands, there is no proof Alexander had sex with men

  • You poor man. You're really angry, aren't you? :( I'm so sorry for you, to have so much trouble even with theories that contradict yours, trouble accepting evidence that's right under your nose.

There are great therapists in your area, I'm sure. Please, for the good of everyone around you, consult them.

And if you ever do become brave and calm enough to look them up, check out some of the documentaries and books I mentioned. They're really very good.

  • Oh, because you cant argue against my logical points, I must be angry in some way. It simply cant be that I would like some real proof that Alexander was gay, instead of going along with conventional thinking because otherwise it would offend some homosexuals

Its very clear from you ignoring any points I make that your the closed minded one, try actually making up your in mind instead of just goin along with the common train of thought,

or dont, i dont give a shit

  • @michirucarrera People keep getting sucked in by

this guy (Vascular15). You give a fact filled, articu-

late response (8 lines) and all he responds to is

the (one line) where you suggest he watch the

documentary; For which you earned entree into his

"stupid" club (Occupied by all who dared differ with

his juvenile, uncouth & often viscious ranting

tirades...). I fell for it - sent him a ten point list of

evidence. His response - "send me proof". You

    can't win - IGNORE HIM!

  • @Vascular15 What's the use - you shower any of us, that answer you, with insults & obscenetys! Rather than memory I looked up Renault's exact quote: "That Hephaistion was his lover seems, on the evi- dence, probable to the verge of certainty". As for your experts - even Plutarch (Who Renault finds "often doubted by historians") concedes Bagoas & the King were intimate. While Arrian is credible its 2nd hand and your Diadorus is 3 genrtations removed. I'll take Ptolemy over all!
  • @MrGBOOK "Probable to the verge of certainty", even Renault one of the most pro homosexual Alexander historians cannot be certain. If she cant, how can you? We dont have Ptolemy as a source you idiot, Plutarch and Arrian did. Do you actually know anything at all? Also neither Plutach nor Arrian said that Alexander ever sex with men. God your pathetic.

  • @MrGBOOK Also what you dont seem to realise is that Plutrachs writings are also "2nd hand". a

And Arrian is the best source we have on Alexander

  • Ever heard of Robin Lane Fox? One of the major historians dealing with Alexander, while he maintains that Alexander the Great was "probably" Bisexual, he even admits in one of his books that there is no real of this. Also your last statement about about Alexander not liking women makes you look like an absolute idiot, you need to keep in mind that no credible historian will even attempt to say that Alexander didnt have sex with women. God you are fucking stupid.

  • He did indeed have sex with women, sparingly. His wife, Roxanne, didn't get pregnant until a month AFTER Hephaistion's death, for example. He had a harem of women to make himself look good in Persia as king, but then almost never went to them. A woman named Barsine claimed to be his mistress, yet had no proof, and probably made it up.

Where did Alexander ever enjoy having sex with women? Where does it say he liked it?

  • Oh so there is proof he had sex with women, but no proof he had sex with men. That would make Alexander a heterosexual.

  • Alexander's parents were worried when he was young because he refused to sleep with women; Olympias set him up with a prostitute, and he refused her. He had a harem but never went to them. He had two (or three) wives and only one got pregnant, after Hephaistion died.

He IS recorded tongue-kissing Bagoas, his other male lover, and receiving a letter from a philosopher criticizing him for "ruling from between Hephaistian's thighs." Which is more than we have between him and ANY woman.

  • Firstly, Im pointing out that you cant read properly, you can read your previous post as evidence of this. So try to take bit more care when reading this one.

I see your first paragraph is more circumstantial evidence, well done, but circumstantial evidence doesnt proove anythin, o youve embarrassed yourself again.

  • And the second paragraph?

And I'm directly asking you: where is the proof he liked women, or enjoyed having sex with them, or even did have sex with them except for the one drunk, insane night with Roxanne?

  • He's recorded as kissing, not tongue kissing. Kissing a man isnt proof that that he had sex with him, you may or may not know that hetero men can show affection for other men, without wanting to do them. Again circumstantial, how surprising

As for that quote? who is the source on that? Because it ISNT one of the main trusted sources about Alexander. I guess you didnt know that though

AGAIN you have embarrassed yourself, it kind of a trend for you isnt it

  • The quote is from a surviving letter of Diogenes of Sinope, from "Letter 24", which is indeed a surviving source.

I notice you aren't providing proof of your side either, even after being directly asked, so you're resorting to insults, probably hoping to embarrass me so I won't notice you have no information of your own to offer. I'm not embarrassed, nor have I missed your points--namely, that you don't have one.

  • And how relevent a source is Diogenes, did he accompany Alexander? Is he in anyway a credible enough source to comment on Alexanders sexuality? Answer is No

And you have very clearly embarrassed yourself , you continually ignore any points I bring up and try to change the subject, Im just not letting you. Face it, your done

  • Too bad, the theory that Alexander did like women is interesting, and I'd love to have a real conversation about it. It's just that followers like you are incapable, and angry because you know how incapable you really are. That really undermines the theory altogether.

Also: you want to put a period after "surprising" in your first paragraph. In the second, capitalize "who", and put a ' between the n and t in isn't, and the n and t in didn't. In the third, you say "it's kind", not "it kind".

  • I was waiting for this, the last refuge for someone who has completely lost an internet argument. Going after my grammar/ spelling because you simply cannot argue my points.

Its fucking pitiful, no i dont want to do any of these things, i dont worry about my grammar as long as i get my oint across

and since you have resorted to this, then i clearly have gotten my point across.

Im not goin to bother to point out your mistake, its just so sad.

  • @bluemaya14 Bi only because of an (arranged) political "wife".

otherewise - very much preferred males (The who & what well

documented!). ther "Greeks", Alexander was Mecedonian - very

not Greek (Sorry, another Greek loss!) And comeon - Heracles,

no one EVER accomplished what Alexander did!

  • @MrGBOOK No contemporary historian states plainly whether Alexander had a sexual relationship with men, according to Robin Lane Fox. There is no proof that he was anything but a heterosexual man.

  • This is beautiful.

  • Wow...this is a GREAT video

  • Im fan of Alexander/Hephaistion, too!

  • so so so beautiful...

  • oh my!!!! this is the best gay couple in the world!!!! yea yea they should have made a damn salacious sex scene.....lol.....but dont show the dick.....just the emotion.....stuff like that....!

  • i wished they wouldve kissed to. jared leto (he plays hephaistion) was like "we didnt take it far enough. we shouldve done a sex scene. it wouldve been the fucking best sex scene. no one will ever do a sex scene again if me and colin did one."

  • *g* What would I have given to see THAT! I was so hoping for a kiss and nothing. There was so much gay kissing in that movie, why not Colin and Jared? Jared was so cute in that role *sigh*

  • @Ulysses0302 Watch again - thry do kiss

(Shot from behind Alexander - as the embrace!)

Also he singles out Bagoas - among the dancers/

scene and gices him a very passionate kiss

(letting all know he will be more than a "slave"

with me...) and we see Hephaistion' response:

Perhaps bemused; even peeved - but not

really mad (He knows - never doubts his re-

    lationship w/Alexander...their lifetime love!)

  • @MrGBOOK what, where? where, where, where? when? not the bagoas one, the hephaistion one?

  • @krizzimouse In at least one of the (apparent) hugging scenes - though you only see Alexan- der from the back, you can see their faces lock; rather than the cheek to cheek view in most of the "hugs"... I'll try and find the exact time/place of that scene & message you when I do (I'd done that before and mis placed it). Stone tried to be more discreet re their intimacy (As the King & "H" would have been), because of the men, who al- ready gossiped. With Bagoas it was different.

  • @MrGBOOK so, have you found it yet? not trying to chase you up, just wondering...

  • @wowee1232123 Oh my gosh! I love this movie but I would have definately loved it more if their relationship had gone much farther. Honestly, i'm annoyed that Alexander and Bagoas seemed to have much more intimate scenes.

  • @zeroendless2 Since Bagoas was (publically) his

like valet or such it allowed him to be alone with the

King virtually all his "private" time. Where-as, with

Hephaistion it was more complicated (He had his

own command - army of men, tent, aides, etc.). We

see the scene where Alexander says he needs

Hephaistion to spend the night - the first thing he

looks over to Bagoas and back to the King; who

then tells Bagoas: "I'll draw my own bath" (You're

    excused...I need my lover tonight!)

  • @MrGBOOK Yeah, I know. I just would have liked to see more. They kiss in the director's cut? I haven't seen that. Maybe i'll buy it.
