  • ihr Sei!

    ;-)

  • hah, bragging about how easy something is before even having performed it...stereotypical trumpet behavior. I prob. wont be able to make your show, but in any case, I wish you the best with your performance. Eric really did a great job on this.

  • this is one of Maynard's easier charts to pull off for the soloist. Tons of time to rest those chops and the Ab to Bb just kind of pops.

  • @trane1959 Insightful observations. Got a recording of yourself playing it?

  • @3myst actually bro. You can come to the Miles Cafe in NYC on December 1st and watch me do it love, smarty pants.

  • @trane1959 Saw your video.....Ab to Bb didn't pop!

  • i have to honestly say that i like this song better when maynard plays it. but no matter how you look at it eric is still an AMAZING player.

  • no shit dude. also this is too fast lol.

  • i have a recording of dave stahl playing this, and i think if anyone knows what i am talking about and you have a video of it please post it...

    -scott is the man, btw.

  • this guy is definetely AMAZING, but there will never be another maynard.

  • you should seriously go shoot yourself

  • You are idiot and moron!

  • you're a fucking idiot and should shoot yourself in the face

  • this guy rules but maynards tone is so legendary i am bummed out that you would even say that i need to go pray now

  • Maynard is the BEST--Hands down. He's the whole package...it's not all about tone....besides I saw Maynard dozens of times in my life and like all musicians...he had better nights than others. I heard him quite a few times where he nailed every note...no cracks. Eric is awesome too but he is emulating...not originating!

  • Honestly I think Eric is a better player then Maynard sure Maynard had a greater success with his ability cause he was really the first to do it but Maynard's one fundamental flaw was his tone below a high C where as Eric has a good tone in all registers, I think Maynard could play a couple notes higher but I would sacrifice those 2 or 3 noes for Eric's tone any day

  • dont agree with that at all.... wow ur out there

  • well to each there own bun in my opinion Eric has the better tone maynard sounds very pinched in the high lower register but I would still wouldn't trade classic maynard for the world, about 3 years before he died I had the chance to sit in after a maynard concert and watch he and arturo go at lol while we were watching the concert before that jam session I remember arturo leaning over and saying to me "that old sun of a b**ch still has it after all these years" lol CLASSIC

  • The whole point of playing is to have your own sound, everyone has their own style. But maynard had GREAT style and it's something worth emulating. You know he's Rockin out in the afterlife. RIP Maynard

  • MF...

  • Saaatan!!

  • Of course you like Maynard's version better, eric miyashiro is no maynard (although i wouldn't mind playing like him).

  • sadly no one can live up to the boss, but eric in his own right is a very gifted high note player and in my opinion he has moments where he sounds very much fox.

  • You won't hear an argument from me on that point.

  • It's amazing that despite so many great trumpet players trying their hardest none can do it like Maynard. Many can hit the notes, a handful can even come close to his sound and none can combine it with the style Maynard had. Someday maybe someone will and I can't wait to hear that player!!!

  • I agree, no one can match the passion and the fury in his notes. Sure, i can play a double C and i have a good tone, but my double C is like kissing your sister while Maynard's is like kissing Jessica Alba.

  • I totally agree, with what you said and the comparison you made! That was hilarious...

  • my sister is Jessica Alba

  • I like Maynard Ferguson's version better....

  • It's funny to see Jay Chattaway up there conducting his own arrangement.
