@sworder24 This was the original song. I'm guessing you heard the version with Minnijean Brown Trickey singing in it as well. That's the updated version. I also have a video posted for the that one. I added that one a little over a month ago
@PsychoticPrplFlower Great case study. Although prejudiceisn't as coherent as it was during the early 1960's some things relative to treatment still make comparitives./C.M.
man if i was 1 of those white girls at the school and saw the 9 walk up the staris and the gards wouldn't let them in and white ppl screaming I would have marched right up the steps stood right next to the 9 turned around to face ever1 and yelled....WAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH U ..WE R ALL PPL AND WE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO BECOME 1 HAPPY NATION. U WHITES SHOULD BE A SHAMED OF URSLEFS.
@ashbug30 uh ya i dont think so...people had thought very, very different back then and for saying that u may have gotten arrested or been beaten up yourself :O
@tinaford101x yea probley, but i wouldn't ahve cared at least i wouldn't want 2 be 1 of the white girls who yelled ..screaming get the hell outta her N. I would be a shamed if i was 1 of thoes girls. We actaully read an article about this in class and there was an article about a woman who was one of the girls on the cover screaming at the black kids. She said she was sorry and wish she could have changed how she acting..i was like hell yea!!!!
@Khultan Don't believe me on wat ?? hmm? That I would have been a shamed if i was one of the white girls yelling at one of the black girls, cuz bitch i would have been, don't sit there and tell u don't believe me b/c u don't even fucking no me! Sometimes i think to myself and probley say well it depends if i was in that type of situation...cuz the parents back then bascily taught their children that white ppl are better and stuff like that. Also y did u comment on this months later??
@ashbug30 The comment is months ago, not centuries. You're that easy to get provoked, eh? No, I don't know you and I certainly wasn't singling you out, just responding to a comment which I feel is ridiculous, given the attitudes and conduct of the whites in that region of the U.S. of A. of that era. Really, you would have made your grand stand in your 'plea' for humanity and compassion in a race charged, hostile and divided community? I doubt that. Fear gripped that community.
@ashbug30 Final comment: Like I said, I wasn't singling you out and, yes, I don't know you, I was just responding to a comment, if you can understand that, at least. Good bye.
yes, some of these pictures are from one or more of the Sojourn to the Past trips. =] I'm soo glad to hear how moved you were by the trip. It's a wonderful organization and it's been an honor for me to be able to work with them. =] Keep being the change and stay 'ordinary' :)
Some of those pictures were from Sojourn to the Past weren't they?
Its was a honor to be able to be part of the trip and meet Elizabeth Eckford and Minnijean Brown-Trickey, especially being able to sing this song with Minnijean herself.
I absolutey live the quote "Ordinary People do extraordinary things." (=
I don't know about all schools, but I know many of them closed in 1958 a year after the Little Rock Nine had been admitted to Central High School. A lot of schools in the South closed in order circumvent desegregation.
In 1958 AK Gov. ordered the three high schools in Little Rock closed in response to desegregation. There were actually a lot of school districts, not just in AK, but in other school districts in the South that closed rather than desegregate.
Circumvention of desegregation was done in a number of ways. Administrative procedures indefinitely delayed black students who sought to attend white schools. States outright ignored Brown. Old white schools were desegregated and abandoned for new white schools. Public money was put into segregated private white schools with scholarships paying for white students who couldn't afford it. Then there's the one that still happens, drawing up the district lines to assure mostly white schools.
I felt so bad for them. They have been rejected the whites like if they were nothing. They were strong because they went to a school where there was nothing but white ppl. The ones in 0:25 are disgusting white people.
1957 is the way it use to be, and now you voted in a Black President.
Everyone on the out side is looking in. Don't know if he's a good one yet, but at least America is making big steps to truly become the Land of the Free.
This song Nails it.

You're right hitgong. I live in NZ and for many years I have looked at the USA from outside and been disgusted by the way it claimed to be the 'home of the free' while at the same time stiffeling freedom all over the world and within its own borders. The election of Obama has gone someway to restoring my faith in the courage of the majority of Americans. It really is a massive step, I hope and pray Obama can live up to the challenge.
Today, in California, Prop 8 threatens 2 million Californians, with the elimination of their marriages.
Please - don't let the ugliness of discrimination crawl back in to society.
Today, any American -- white, black, hispanic or asian, will look at this video with horror - seeing how these young innocent children were treated.
Prop 8 attempts to bring this kind of discrimination back into CA constitution. If you have any friends who live in CA - please urge them to vote NO on Prop 8!
Hate is Hate - and it's ALL ugly! Sure, the white bigots of the south wanted those little innocent kids DEAD, and there was NO EXCUSE for that, but today - the zealots want every gay and lesbian in America dead and there's no excuse for that either...
Bigotry is bigotry, hate is hate, and arguing who's HATE is worse is purely ridiculous!
can you send me the pic on 0:16, 0:50, 1:11, 1:35, 2:44, and 3:18 please? ima doing a project and they are reely strong. i appreciate what they did... kinda why i chose the topic little rock nine...i guess...

LDS Mormons say the Mormon GOD segregates people by Skin Color
THE MORMON GOD CURSING PEOPLE WITH DARK BLACK SKIN AS A CURSE The point is the SKIN COLOR IS DARK BLACK & it's A CURSE
"...the Lord God did cause a skin of BLACKNESS to come upon them (Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 5:21)"
"And the skins..were DARK,according to the MARK which was set upon their fathers..which WAS A CURSE upon them...(Book of Mormon,Alma 3:6)"
"and the CURSING which hath come upon their skins...(Book of Mormon,Jacob 3:5)"
