@jd27x Hello, I have got Ours Almost 8ft high and it really has improved the game play, But for the best outcome i would suggest the holding the kinect above your head while, you get someone to start game and get an idea of the space you will gain and For all you know, you might not need to go so high as we did.. Also when playing kinect try to avoid dark clothing...
OMG! This is exactly what I said we need to do in our living room to my family, they all scoffed. Thanks for this, now I can show it to them and maybe then we can sort it out proper rather than just speculate.
I am concerned that I might not have enough distance from the kinect to the couch.
I would like to hold off the purchase until I become a little more reassured that it will indeed work. On the xbox site they say that you need 6 to 8 ft of distance. Don't suppose you would be so kind to tell me how far your "best" position is from the kinect (both to the wall and straight line)?
@MrFlyingoz When We first got the Kinect I just had it above the tv and it was 6ft away and I had a 1Ft left of space behind me.So when i set the game up, I was just touching best and it was ok.BUT trying to play two player game, was Almost Impossible you would get loss of Identity because with kinect you do alot of movement side to side...So that when I put it on the wall behind tv and i went from 6FT GAP to a 10FT between me and the kinect and I gain another foot (giving me 2ft) behind me.
@MrFlyingoz Best thing you can do, is get the space size of your room and go to a local Shop/store who have a Kinect on display demo Stand in front of it, at the distance that you measure in your room,,Then you see if Your room big enough. Or be a bit cheeky and ask a friend to borrow there for half an hour and find out that way....
@MrFlyingoz Yes Very Happy with the Setup, About the Height Really you can have it as High as the Cable will reach up from the kinect to xbox.Like I say in my Description, The best way to test it , is to get Behind your Tv and hold the kinect above your Head and then Stand REALLY Still,, the Kinect will move up and down to scan the person in front of it,Get them to setup kinect adventures and when the space grid appears, you can c if u r in good or best.If in Good try lifting the kinect higher
Does it work okay if you mount the kinect higher than the recommended 6ft limit?

got my kinect yesterday. Installed it on the wall at an height of about 7ft from the floor and it worked like a charm. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the video.
I have the same space issue and I wonder if you are still happy with your setup. BTW how high is the sensor? 8 feet?
